秋の中山道 妻籠宿・馬籠宿｜宿場町に泊まる至福の1泊2日！江戸時代をトレッキング！｜長野｜岐阜
Good morning! We’ve come to Nagiso Town in Nagano Prefecture! Today, we’ll explore the area you see behind me, Tsumago-juku, for a bit and then trek to Magome-juku! Then, we’ll stay overnight in Magome-juku and continue further from there! We parked at Tsumago-juku Parking Lot No. 2! Tomorrow we’ll return to Tsumago-juku by bus! We plan to walk about 3 hours today, so we’ll enjoy the sightseeing while taking our time walking. Now, let’s head to Tsumago-juku first! This post town has welcomed travelers since the Edo period as the 42nd station on the Nakasendo. In 1976, it became the first in Japan to be designated as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. Power lines are buried underground, signs are designed to match the scenery, and the residents work together to preserve this Edo period townscape! We’ll have our luggage delivered to Magome-juku! ¥1,000 per piece of luggage Tsumago-juku has narrow streets! Narai-juku was quite wide, right? But Tsumago is narrow. There are so many elegant buildings, it’s so picturesque! It really feels like the Edo period. We’re going to cross over that mountain to get to Magome. That’s quite a distance! Magome→Tsumago: Mostly downhill Magome→Tsumago: Mostly downhill
Tsumago→Magome: Mostly uphill Let’s buy some souvenirs for the journey! I want chestnuts!! Purchased oyaki! Anmitsu looks good too!! Purchased Shinshu rice crackers! Got them! Looking forward to eating them♪ The rice crackers looked delicious too, so I bought some! Now, finally, shall we cross that mountain to Magome? Let’s do our best! Old man) Back in those days, under the alternate attendance system, there’s only one place with the name “hatago” (inn). It’s still in business!! We’re allowed to tour inside this 250-year-old inn! It’s so spacious inside! Old man) There’s space in the back and front, plus a second floor. Old man) Fluorescent lights aren’t allowed here, only bare bulbs! Why aren’t they allowed? Old man) Fluorescent lights would ruin the atmosphere… But bare bulbs, nowadays there’s only LED. Thank you for the valuable stories!🙏 It’s moving to think that daimyo processions once walked this road. A horse made of straw We’ve left Tsumago-juku and entered the mountains. It really feels like the Nakasendo trail is starting now. The Nakasendo – it’s all in the mountains! The Kiso Road! What? “All of Kiso Road is in the mountains” The road connecting Edo and Kyoto The road connecting Edo and Kyoto isn’t just the Nakasendo, there are others too. The most famous is the Tokaido. The Tokaido That road is also famous. But that road has rivers, and The Tokaido had many large rivers without bridges – people crossed by being carried. The Nakasendo goes through mountains, right? Though steep and snowy, no long delays

→Schedule gets disrupted That’s why the Nakasendo was a popular route! It was often used for alternate attendance as well. Oh really, amazing! The Nakasendo was easier to guard too. So let’s go!! Are you hungry? Yeah. I’m getting a bit hungry. We just started but I’m already getting hungry. We haven’t even gone a third of the way… There seems to be a soba shop here. Shall we have a quick meal here? Let’s eat, get some energy, and cross the pass! There’s an irori fireplace! All menu items are affordable!! These are firm soba noodles! Delicious!! Thick noodles with great texture!! It was a quiet and relaxing restaurant! How was the soba? Those noodles, I really liked them! They had such great texture! (The noodles were) thick! First time eating that style. I quite like that kind. Nice handmade feel. It was delicious! Now then, finally, for real this time, let’s go to Magome! Passing through Otsumago-juku! Otsumago-juku is a small hamlet. Chinese lantern plants are in the nightshade family!! I wonder if these ducks are for eating? The stone pavement is characteristic of the Nakasendo. There are toilets here and there along the way! A waterfall! Located between Tsumago-juku and Magome-juku, this place flourished during the Edo period as a hamlet of seven houses including a checkpoint for controlling timber shipments. At the site of a roadside teahouse where travelers rested, it’s still open as a free rest area! They offer candy and tea! Let’s eat the oyaki we bought in Tsumago-juku! The saltiness of the nozawana is perfect, so delicious!! Nozawana is a classic, isn’t it? The dough is fluffy too♪ The dough is quite substantial! When you climb from Tsumago-juku, there are quite a lot of slopes. Uphill slopes. Tsumago-juku: Elevation 430m Tsumago-juku: Elevation 430m
Magome-juku: Elevation 600m It’s surprisingly tough. It might be easier to go from Magome-juku to Tsumago-juku since it would be mostly downhill. This way has its own climbing challenge, which is good too! The sweet sugar coating matches perfectly with the miso – delicious!! Power restored after the break! What was that? Recovery pose! Now let’s conquer Magome Pass! Magome Pass: Elevation 790m We’re at about 710m now, so about 80m We’ll climb 80m. One final push! People probably think it’s easy. Maybe it’s not that hard. It’s mountain climbing, right? Aren’t you a mountain climbing YouTuber? That too, and the path is easy to walk on. Because it’s well-maintained. Very easy to walk. And it’s cool. It might have been impossible in midsummer. Autumn is perfect. Let’s go! This was the steepest uphill section! Yay! We’ve arrived at Magome Pass! We crossed the pass! Yay! We crossed the pass! It’s 790m. This is also the border between Nagano and Gifu prefectures. It changes at the pass. That last climb was tough! Now let’s head to Magome-juku! There’s a monument with Jippensha Ikku’s comic poem! The meaning was quite intense😂 Late Edo period comic writer, famous for “Tokaido Hizakurige”
Traveled the Nakasendo and wrote “Kiso Kaido Hizakurige” 300m to Magome-juku! Heading to Magome Jinba-ue Observatory! We can see Mt. Ena! It’s huge! Magnificent! It seems so close. Being this close to Mt. Ena is unique to this place! And you can see Magome-juku too. We finally made it. We finally made it! It took longer than expected. We walked slowly, filming everything we wanted, so it took time. Beyond that, you can see the town of Nakatsugawa. A town! We really came through the mountains. “All of Kiso Road is in the mountains” The opening line of Shimazaki Toson’s novel “Before the Dawn” Shimazaki Toson’s family home was the honjin in Magome-juku! What! No way! It’s true! Father Shimazaki Masaki was the 17th head of Magome-juku honjin The 43rd post town on the Nakasendo Along the stone-paved slope that retains its Edo period appearance, souvenir shops and restaurants line the street, preserving the history that served as the setting for Shimazaki Toson’s “Before the Dawn”! The sound of water is soothing. Picking up our delivered luggage!
Pickup time: 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM We’re staying in Magome-juku tonight!! Located almost in the center of Magome-juku street, a traditional Japanese inn preserving its historical character Such a spacious room!! The mattress was fluffy and comfortable for sleeping! Let’s eat! So many different dishes! I’m really tired, everything looks delicious! Let’s try the tempura. Shrimp! Isn’t it huge? Huge! We eat it with matcha salt! That’s unusual! It has a green tint. So crispy! Crispy! Delicious! Such perfectly straight and beautiful shrimp! They have the technique! Delicious! It’s a hot pot! Perfect since it’s getting cool! The broth has great flavor! With meat too, meatballs!! It’s nice staying at an inn on the Nakasendo. Yeah! You can feel the old atmosphere. Of the post town, both night and morning! After finishing trekking, we can just go straight in. (Without going outside)
We can bathe and eat right here. I was about to say the same thing! Really, really, really I was faster! We’re in sync! When you’re tired, if we had to go to a hotel after, it would be quite tough. Arriving right at the hotel is nice! The bath was amazing too! Really amazing! The fatigue disappeared instantly! I almost fell asleep. I really appreciated the value of a bath. I felt that showers alone aren’t enough! It’s the best! Looking forward to tomorrow too. The road is bent twice in a hook shape
to make it difficult for enemies to attack! Magome-juku at night has great atmosphere too. Nice! So quiet! There were so many people, but now they’re all gone! These lights are nice. The warm light is beautiful. In the distance, isn’t it nice seeing Mt. Ena and the town? We haven’t had this before. It’s on a slope. Magome is on a slope. That’s what’s nice about it. Narai-juku and Tsumago-juku weren’t on slopes! A post town on a slope! They built it well on a slope! Looking forward to tomorrow. Is there more tomorrow? Ochiai-juku First time! We can go further ahead. Looking forward to walking. Shall we head back? Good night! It’s raining a bit. A Rinzai Zen temple established in 1558, where the Shimazaki family graves are located. In Shimazaki Toson’s “Before the Dawn,” it appears under the name Manpuku-ji. Amazing view! Wow! Did you find it? Found Shimazaki Toson’s grave. Wow! It’s huge! So he rests here. His name was Haruki. The stone pavement looks great! The wet stone pavement is beautiful, so we’ll enjoy the rain in its own way! Even koi take shelter from rain!! Magome-juku has experienced two major fires! Recently? During the Meiji and Taisho periods. Only parts remained, so they rebuilt. That’s why it looks quite new. The stone pavement and masugata remain from that time. Doesn’t that look good? We had it before, right? We had it before and it was really delicious! Bought it again! So much cream inside! Fluffy and hot! Chestnut! There’s chestnut! Really! Autumn is great, full of delicious things! It’s kuri-kinton! What’s kuri-kinton? You don’t know kuri-kinton!! I’ve heard of kuri-kinton but not sure what it actually is… lol There’s kuri-kinton in New Year’s osechi dishes, but this Central Japan style kuri-kinton is made with just chestnuts + sugar! The New Year’s kuri-kinton is made with chestnuts + sweet potato! They said it’s freshly made!! We can eat what was made this morning♪ Such a smooth texture! It looks smooth already. Amazing! You can tell it’s carefully made. Not much graininess from the chestnuts. Really smooth! I wonder if this has a whole chestnut inside? A whole chestnut with kuri-kinton paste around it! What a luxurious treat! Delicious! Since there’s a chestnut inside, you can taste more chestnut flavor in this one! They’re all delicious! How nice! It’s autumn! Delicious! Since it’s chestnuts, it feels healthy! lol Thank you for watching!

江戸時代にタイムスリップしたような景色ですね。妻籠宿から馬籠宿までの歩きは見てる側も癒されます。
ほんとうに中山道は山の中ですね。
なるさんが美味しく食べる姿は、なるまさ旅動画の定番ですね。美味しく食べている姿が似合っていますよ。
ここ数年、中山道を歩く外国からの旅行客が多いそうですね。昔ながらの日本を感じたいのかな？
涸沢カールの紅葉がピークを迎えたそうです。今年の紅葉は、11年ぶりの当たり年だとニュースで放送されていました。

昔々いと昔、南木曽でテニス合宿を何度かしていたので、妻籠馬込は懐かしくて、一度歩いてみたいと思ってますが、中々タイミングが合いません😅
のんびり歩くと良い感じですが、昔の旅人はのんびり出来なかったんでしょうね。 草津宿の追分道標に、右東海道いせみち、左中仙道美のぢ とあって、本来は瀬田の唐橋が急がば回れの語源ですが、草津もそうなんですね。 私も、宿場の宿に泊まりたいです。
なるさんのザック背負った姿、久々に見ましたが、矢張りカッコイイですね!🤩。流石登山系YouTuber😉👍。しかしお二人馬籠宿・妻籠宿が好きですねぇ!😻。１年前はなるまさ山旅の方で、馬籠宿〜妻籠宿の弾丸トレッキングをされていましたよね!。馬籠は、2005年まで長野県でしたが、行政圏が中津川市に近い為、越県合併で岐阜県に編入されました!。但馬屋さんのお風呂は、男湯は高野槙で、女風呂が木曽檜で出来ており、木の香りに包まれて全身ポカポカになりませんでしたか♨️!（高野槙は檜よりも希少で高価）。今回はトレッキングで、山旅とトラベルの中間の内容でしたが、山が一番鮮やかな紅葉の季節になってきましたので、徐々に山旅の方も更新をしていってください!🙏🙇。
中山道サムライロードpart2ですね,前回は中山道を藪原宿～鳥居峠～奈良井宿を,今回は妻籠宿から馬籠宿とタイムスリップですね。本陣でおじいさんが電灯は裸電球だよ蛍光灯じゃイメージないだろと納得です😅 杉木立に囲まれた峠や街道筋は江戸時代の参勤交代の侍も往来する民衆も同じ景色を観て街道内の宿に泊まり地場の料理を食べるのも同じでしょうね。一緒にタイムスリップさせて頂き.なるさんの説明にも納得。お疲れ様でした。

今年妻籠宿~馬籠宿も歩いたと%コーヒーも飲みたいとも話しました。
元々馬籠宿で私も一泊しようと思いましたが、その次の日程とか色々考えて変更してしました。
でもナルマサさんの映像を通して夜の風景も見れて良かったです。
