The distillery also features well-maintained parks and ponds, making it a popular spot, especially during the cherry blossom season in spring and the autumn foliage season in fall. We introduce ” Hitome Hakkei, ” one of Japan’s top three autumn foliage viewing spots, located in Yabakei Town! Even within Yabakei, famous for its autumn foliage, “Hitome Hakkei” is the most famous! It’s called “Hitome Hakkei” because you can enjoy eight different views at once! This famous scenic spot in the Shin-Yabakei Gorge, named for its panoramic views of the surrounding rocky peaks, including Gunzaruyama, Tobinosuyama, Usozaruyama, Meotoiwa, Oshika Nagao-no-mine, Eboshi-iwa, Sennin-iwa, and Kaibo -rei, is a primeval scenic spot in the Shin-Yabakei Gorge. Kokonoe Dream Grand Suspension Bridge , opened on October 30, 2006, boasts a length of 390 meters, a height of 173 meters, and a width of 1.5 meters. It boasts the highest pedestrian-only suspension bridge in Japan. Right before your eyes, you can see the Shindo Falls and Otaki Falls and Metaki Falls, both of which have been selected as one of Japan’s 100 best waterfalls. Beneath your feet lies the primeval forest of the Naruko River Valley, which flows through the headwaters of the Chikugo River. The changing natural scenery throughout the seasons never ceases to captivate visitors. Ikeyama Water Source : We’ll guide you to the Ikeyama Spring in Ubuyama, Aso District, Kumamoto Prefecture, which has been selected as one of the Ministry of the Environment’s 100 best springs. Surrounded by trees over 200 years old, the area’s most attractive feature is its magnificent scenery. The spring water in this area is rainwater filtered through layers of rock formed by volcanic eruptions of Mount Aso and Mount Kokonoe. The water temperature remains at 13.5°C year-round, boasting an abundant flow of 30 tons per minute, roaring forth from the spring. Sarutobi Senbo Gorge , located in Kusamoto, Yamakuni-cho, Nakatsu City, Oita Prefecture , is home to countless large and small potholes carved over the course of many years by the powerful mountain streams. It’s a recommended spot for viewing fresh greenery and autumn foliage. This natural formation is the result of the trinity of the clear waters of the Yamakuni River, the metamorphic andesite that covers the entire riverbed, and small pebbles. The name “Sarutobi” (Sarutobi) comes from the mountain monkeys that once appeared and hopped from rock to rock. Yabakei Dam Memorial Park “Keisekien” is a 20,000-square-meter Japanese garden located in Yabakei Town, Nakatsu City, Oita Prefecture . Built in 1987 (Showa 62) to commemorate the completion of the Yabakei Dam, the garden recreates the Yabakei mountain stream using tens of thousands of stones and dam water. The park boasts 20,000 trees of 50 species, ponds, rocks, and waterfalls, creating a stunning harmony throughout the seasons. Experience the natural beauty of light and shadow.
