World’s Most Scenic Mountain Train! | 🇨🇭 Interlaken to Kleine Scheidegg

Today we are going to ride Switzerland’s most scenic mountain trains passing by breathtaking scenery!!! Please enjoy the trip! Hello, good afternoon from Interlaken. What a beautiful day. Today we are going to ride on the world’s most beautiful mountain trains. They are special trains known as cogwheel trains. it built to climb very steep slopes that normal trains cannot handle. This is the route. Interlaken – Grindelwald (40 minutes) Grindelwald – Kleine Scheidegg (40 minutes) Kleine Scheidegg – Lauterbrunnen (40 minutes) Lauterbrunnen – Interlaken (20 minutes) 2 hour+ of train rides. I will like to tour the places if possible. The cost is covered by the Swiss Rail Pass.
(details on the cost are in the description) Basically, it’s like a hike without the hiking. The right side should give me a good views. The first train will take us to Grindelwald, a scenic mountain resort town, similar to Interlaken, but surrounded by even taller and steeper mountains. Cogwheel trains are quite rare and can only been ridden in a few places around the world. Apparently the first cogwheel train was built in the US. what even is a Cogwheel train anyway. By the way the window does open. Hello sheep. This train will switch to the cogwheel system during the climb to Grindelwald. Interlaken is located around 500m sealevel and Griendewald is 1000m+ a 500m climb. About 10 minutes into the train journey and the mountains start to appear. Wow. Nice views. The weather seems perfect but it’s actually on the hotter side. I didn’t know this part of Europe could get this hot. I hope it gets a little cooler as we climb in altitude. Mountains That mountain looks cool. I’ll call it Mount Mönch. I wish there was like a AR thing that overlays what mountain is which mountain. More mountains. When going from Interlaken to Grindelwald, it’s best to sit on the right side. The Lauterbrunnen Valley opening up near the end the train ride. Glacial river flowing through the Valley. Grindelwald Terminal is not the terminal. Maybe the train used to terminate here. I feels bad for those who thought the terminal was the terminal. They’re missing out on this scenery. wowza. This is the town of Grindelwald. I think we’re almost at the station. It’s already been 40 minutes? and just like that, we made it to Grindelwald. I feel better now. It’s cooler here. My next train will be on this retro looking train. It takes about 40 minutes from 
Griendelwald to Kleine Schedegg. As you can see, it’s a pretty steep slope. These are the cogwheel train tracks. It’s like a gear. What a beautiful place. You can see rails down there. I will be riding the next train along those tracks. Wow, look at them climbing this steep incline! Heading near that mountain. My next train to kleine scheidegg is at 13:15. Well… I honestly thought the ticket to kleine scheidegg was part of the rail pass, but its not. 51.2 CHF with discount! I won’t make the 1:15 train, so I’ll take the next one. I’ll walk around, maybe eat lunch while I’m here. Ohh I found good one. Oh no, 24 Swiss francs for a hamburger!? Sad I’m going to have to cut the meal budget since my tickets are going to cost me. 24CHF for a burger… wow… Maybe this would be a nice gift. Discount prices? Let’s go. I tried buying something that 
I haven’t tried in my life. A thon Tonno. A Nuii. And a bio schorle. All that for under 10 chf. Tonno = tuna. Enjoying a sandwich with the Swiss scenery. The Views makes a simple sandwich into a memorable meal. Ok now let’s get going. Grindelwald → Kleine Scheidegg Transfer to the Wengernalpbahn cogwheel train. The line climbs through mountains. Unlike the train from Interlaken, the swiss rail pass cannot be used so there’s barely anyone on board. I was asked which side I should sit on for views and I was told to stand in the middle. Both sides are expected good views. Let’s get going. Wowza. Just wow. It was always a mystery to me why train 
are running so deep within the mountains. 40 minutes, 50 Francs. One of the priciest train’s I’ve ever been on… Though the price might well be worth it with the views to come. Indeed, the scenery is breathtaking on both sides. Hello The train arrives at Grindelwald Grund at 944 m. The lowest point of the train journey. The destination of Kleine Scheidegg is 2,061 m. We’re climbing a gradient that’s more than double the normal slope. As you ascend, panoramic views open up with the Eiger North Face towering, to your left and glimpses of the Lower Grindelwald Glacier below. The Mönch and Jungfrau peaks come into view near Kleine Scheidegg. Is this even real life? What a view. Look at how tiny the buildings are. We were there not too long ago. Hello people. Looks like there’s a lot more people descending. This is Cogwheel. Brandegg station There are stops along the hiking route. Is it for those hikers who got tired mid way? I don’t know. Alpiglen Station 5303ft Hello, nice to meet you. There are now cows. Cow territory. 40% of milk production goes towards cheese around this region. Alpine transhumance is a centuries-old Swiss tradition. Switzerland’s beautiful Alpine scenery is a key tourist asset. Subsidies help maintain this traditional landscape. (also 50 Francs per ride) Switzerland’s beauty is truly outstanding, but it’s interesting to learn the effort behind the scenes. I can’t believe I have the whole car to myself. What a beauty! Are we getting close to the station? We made it to Kleine Scheidegg. (2,061 m) The Fuji Line 5th Station being approximately 2,300m so its like having a train ride there. It’s the time for hiking. Let’s go. According to google maps. There is a small lake higher up. Let’s head there. There is another train that can get us even higher. The Jungfraujoch rail but that’s a ride for another day. That train will take you all the way to the highest station in europe, jungfrau station (3,454 meters) You can see Griendelwald from here. So we’ve gradually climbed in altitude since leaving that point. Kleine Scheidegg offers some of the best views in all of Switzerland. In the summer, it’s the perfect hub for hikers, with trails branching out everywhere. Let’s keep walking. The snow isn’t melting even in the summer season. Mount fuji would be bald from June to October so this is a treat. Wowzers. look at this lake. It’s crystal clear. There’s even ash left. Someone must’ve camped here. Look at all the cows here. I hope I don’t get rammed into one. They look so happy. There are all kinds of differernt colored cows. I’ve never been so close to a cow, Ok I think I’m safe. Let’s head back to the station. 9.5 CHF!?!?!?! The beer was cheaper at 4.9 CHF. Cheers to this scenery. Well that was a fun trip. Now heading back to Interlaken but from a different direction. the Kleine Scheidegg → Lauterbrunnen route. There is a lot more people on board it’s hard to find a seat. No need to sit though. What a magnificent view. I started the whole train ride around noon. I think I should’ve arrived sooner. It’s around 4pm and the sun is about to hide behind the mountains. Good bye cows. There’s a vertical river flowing from the mountains. Pass the alpine village of Wengen, perched on a cliff. Departing from Kleine Scheidegg, begin a steep descent into the Lauterbrunnen Valley. What a weird rock formation. Descending. Pass the alpine village of Wengen, perched on a cliff. Departing from Kleine Scheidegg, begin a steep descent into the Lauterbrunnen Valley. Wow, nice lighting. I can see the another fall there. On the final stretch, sweeping views of the U-shaped valley appear on your left, with Staubbach Falls cascading down as you return to Lauterbrunnen. The town of Lauterbrunnen is already covered in the shadows. I think I’ll visit this town in another occasion. Lots of wow moment throughout the trip. Wow, what a ride and what a day. Lauterbrunnen. Let’s head to Interlaken. I’m back now, Now I head back to my hotel. Mini Mt. Fuji What a day it was. If there is a next time, I would like to visit the highest railway station in Europe.     So stunning. I always think cowbells are such a cruel kind of torture for the cows lol Lovely you got up so close and personal. They really are lovely creatures. Don't you hate the prices in a captured market. Par for the course really. It's not so bad if it helps the infrastructure of the tourism, but if it's for plain greed, I do the talking with my feet generally.

    There is a cog railway going up Mount Washington in New Hampshire, USA. I climbed Mt. Washington . It was 80 degrees Fahrenheit at base and below freezing at the top. So even if you go in summer bring warm clothes in your backpack to put on as you ascend. There is a weather station and shelter at the top to warm up. The summit has some of the most violent and unpredictable weather east of the Mississippi. There were many memorial plaques on the way up hiking.
