Palm Sunday is a Christian moveable feast that falls on the Sunday before Easter. The feast commemorates Christ’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem, an event mentioned in each of the four canonical Gospels. Palm Sunday marks the first day of Holy Week. For adherents of mainstream Christianity, it is the last week of the Christian solemn season of Lent that precedes the arrival of Palm Sunday is a Christian moveable feast that falls on the Sunday before Easter. The feast commemorates Christ’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem, an event mentioned in each of the four canonical Gospels. Palm Sunday marks the first day of Holy Week. For adherents of mainstream Christianity, it is the last week of the Christian solemn season of Lent that precedes the arrival of Eastertide

In most liturgical churches, Palm Sunday is celebrated by the blessing and distribution of palm branches (or the branches of other native trees), representing the palm branches that the crowd scattered in front of Christ as he rode into Jerusalem; these palms are sometimes woven into crosses. The difficulty of procuring palms in unfavorable climates led to their substitution with branches of native trees, including box, olive, willow, and yew. The Sunday was often named after these substitute trees, as in Yew Sunday, or by the general term Branch Sunday. In Syriac Christianity it is often called Oshana Sunday or Hosanna Sunday based on the biblical words uttered by the crowd while Jesus entered Jerusalem.

Many churches of mainstream Christian denominations, including the Orthodox, Catholic, Lutheran, Methodist, Anglican, Moravian, and Reformed traditions, distribute palm branches to their congregations during their Palm Sunday liturgies. Christians take these palms, which are often blessed by clergy, to their homes where they hang them alongside Christian art (especially crosses and crucifixes) or keep them in their Bibles and daily devotional books. In the period preceding the next year’s Lent, known as Shrovetide, churches often place a basket in their narthex to collect these palms, which are then ritually burned on Shrove Tuesday to make the ashes to be used on the following day, Ash Wednesday, which is the first day of Lent.

  1. They loved Him then.😢
Thank you for the share. Ive thought so many times of being there for it. Even if i could, im not sure i could😊
The thought watching; to walk where Jesus walked: my soul is overwhelmed and eyes flood.😳😢 i dont know if i could function to walk it with that in mind.😊Praise Jesus always and forever!🙌💞
I do the same at the thought of the woman touching the hem of His garment-to imagine..my soul overloads.😬

  2. It’s crazy how quick man will create images. Didn’t YHVH say he does not like false images?
The cross gets more glory than the Son of YHVH! Throw out the cross and false image of Yeshua and bring glory to abba with Yeshua being inside you and you walking as his image!🎉🎉🎉🎉
He is the BRANCH so we lay down Branches before him to glorify YHVH and the Lamb. If you have no Branch then use your HANDS because you are likened to a TREE and your hands are PALM BRANCHES🙌🏻🙌🏻🌈🌈🌈🌈❤️❤️❤️😇😇

  3. one day will walk through a gate and the past wont matter and with no fear for the future we will be together in loving fellowship held together by a Holy Covenant between all peoples IN HIS GLORIOUS NAME

  4. I don't trust the Roman Catholic Church which deceived the world that Jesus Christ was crucified on Good Friday which is a lie from the pit of hell. How can you get 3 days and 3 nights from Friday to Sunday when the Israeli day starts from evening to evening of the other day? Jesus Christ had to be crucified on a Wednesday and raised Saturday evening to Sunday to be the First Fruits. They have tricked the world from the days of the early Roman Empire.

I watched the Palm Sunday procession in Jerusalem yesterday,it looks like the people in the celebration are tourists and maybe Christian Israelists .I'm not sure this time but 10 years ago when we were there in the Holy Land during palm Sunday ,the people who participated were mostly tourists but at least there's no violence during that time.
