OMIHACHIMAN 🇯🇵 : ville historique sans touristes Hachiman-Yama, sanctuaire Himure Hachimangu

Hello everyone. Today, I’m taking you to the city of Omihachiman in Japan. Here’s a little preview of what you’ll see in this video. [Music] [Music] And as usual, we’ll see you right after. Here we go. Ikimasho. Omihachiman is easily accessible by train from Kyoto and Osaka. Allow about half an hour for transportation. Located on the shores of Lake Biwa, in the center of Shiga Prefecture, Omihachiman is a small Japanese town at the foot of Mount Hachiman-Yama. This town is a former feudal and trading city. It’s also a water town with canals that you can explore by boat. The architecture of the city center still preserves the memory of this rich past. But first, it’s time to eat. [Music] On the menu, it’s Sukiyaki, the Japanese fondue. Suki means pike and yaki means to grill. This is a traditional sweet and savory culinary specialty of Japanese cuisine. [Music] It is a variation of the Chinese hotpot shabu-shabu or nage made with beef and vegetables simmered in a warishita broth composed of Morin, dashi, shoyu saqué and sugar. [Music] I really recommend this dish, it’s delicious. [Music] and a little dessert before leaving. [Music] We will first go to Mount Hachiman-Yama. This is the Himure Hashimangu Shrine which we will visit a little later. You can easily get to Hachiman-Yama by cable car which only takes 4 minutes. For those who prefer to walk, there is also a hiking trail. [Music] You will be able to find very beautiful panoramic views, which makes it an ideal place for photography, for landscapes and for relaxing in nature. [Music] You will find many lamps and decorations throughout your journey. The higher you go, the more magnificent the view becomes, with Lake Biwa, the largest lake in Japan, in front of you. [Music] You will also find many cats roaming free. We will now go back down to Zuiryu-ji Temple. As you can see, apart from the Japanese, there are almost no tourists. [Music] You can spend a peaceful day in this place, which is truly peaceful. This is Zuiryu-Ji Temple. It was founded in 1596 by Tomo. This temple was Monzenki, that is, run by high-ranking people, princesses or daughters of nobles. It was in 1961 that this temple was moved and rebuilt on the site of the former Hachiman-Yama Castle. A little further down, inside a modern complex, you can find an exhibition of Japanese umbrellas, and it is truly magnificent. [Music] We will now go back down by cable car. And for those who are afraid of cable cars, don’t worry, Japan doesn’t joke around at all when it comes to safety. We will now visit the Shinto Himure Hachimangu Shrine. It is dedicated to Hachiman, the kami who protects war, archery, and samurai. The origin of this shrine dates back to the Ojin Tenno era in the 4th century. [Music] It is a very popular place in spring with the cherry blossoms and in autumn with its red maples. [Music] This place is very linked to popular traditions and the city’s major festivals. [Music] [Music]
And now, discover the past by walking along Shinmachi Street with its buildings preserved as if time had stopped in the Edo period. [Music] [Music] You can even find a neighborhood here that seems to appreciate France. It will be time to return to Kyoto and go eat [Music] for dinner. It’ll be a yakitori restaurant. You’ll have to order with a QR code from your smartphone. I didn’t film inside, but I can guarantee it was delicious, and I’ll be back. For dessert, right next to the restaurant, there’ll be this magnificent and delicious ice cream sundae. [Music] [Music] And on my way back to the hotel, I discovered a strange security guard in the basement of Kyoto Station. [Music] So, the tour is now over. Thank you for watching it to the end. Autumn is coming, and I have some nice surprises in store for you at the end of the year. Take care of yourself , and above all, never stop traveling while you can. Matané! [Music]
