【安すぎる!?】初めてのベトナム旅行!グルメに観光全てが想像を超えてくるハノイが最高すぎた

Vietnam VIETNAM Hanoi HANOI This is one of the most chaotic cities in the world, and it is in this chaos that the greatest charm lies. A real journey through Vietnam I encountered over 9 days. Now, on to my trip to Hanoi, Vietnam. Day 1 After checking in at Kansai International Airport , I passed security and immigration without incident. I boarded the familiar VietJet and headed to Hanoi, Vietnam. The seat pitch was quite narrow. I was worried that there would be a delay, but surprisingly, we took off on time. It’s a good start. I arrived in Vietnam about 5 hours from Japan. I was worried about immigration, but I was able to complete it without any questions. There is no need for a visa for stays of up to 45 days. I had all my luggage with me . I always worry about collecting my luggage, but if you put an AirTag in your bag, you can find it and it’s safe. I recommend it, so do try it. First, I secured local currency. This time, I used a Wise card for a quick cash advance. The Wise card is convenient, so if you don’t have one yet, check the description. The rates are good and there are almost no fees, so it’s a good deal. If you have an iPhone, you can check it using the original calculator app. The exchange rate in September 2025 is 10,000 VND = 56 yen. The Vietnamese Dong is a large unit that is difficult to understand. Next is setting up the SIM. The eSIMs from Vietnam’s three major carriers, Viettel, Vinphone, Mobifone , and Klook, are also cheap and recommended. There are also coupons available, so if you’re interested, please check the description. While setting up the SIM, I’ll have some Vietnamese food. Pho is a great way to soothe my tired body. Noi Bai International Airport is large and beautiful, so I’m looking forward to the city of Vietnam! Traveling to the hotelThis time I used the popular local ride-hailing app Grab to head to the hotelIt’s convenient to pre-register your credit card while you’re in Japan so you can use it right awayGrab (12 mins) 67,000 VND (376 JPY) Arrived at the hotelIt ‘s a hotel near the airport but they don’t speak any English so I’m off to a nervous startNew Sky Airport Hotel 344,000 VND (1,930 JPY) for one nightUnfortunate news: most toilets in Vietnam don’t flush toilet paperTonight I’ll order food through Grab and eat it at the hotelThat ‘s it for todayDay 2Good morningFirst I head to 999 COFFEEI’m still intimidated by the Vietnamese atmosphere so I head to this clean-looking restaurantThey have a wide variety of breakfast menus and there were a lot of things I wanted to order but apparently there’s no chef and they can’t make most of the food lolWhat does that mean!? Apparently they can make noodles, so I ordered beef noodles and a drink. Chocolate shake 50,000 VND (281 JPY) Beef noodles 70,000 VND (393 JPY). After breakfast, I headed to my next accommodation. Grab (55 mins) 367,000 VND (2060 JPY). If you’re going directly from the airport to a hotel in the city, the airport transfer service is a good deal. Klook offers a Grab service that can sometimes be cheaper than a taxi to the hotel. If you’re interested, check the description. This road is too difficult with a lot of luggage, about 60kg in total. ← First attempt at crossing the street . Even though there’s a traffic light, it’s like this, barely crossing. It’s so scary . Since I have some time before check-in, it’s time for lunch. Highlands Coffee , commonly known as Vietnam’s Starbucks. I’m still a bit unsure about my second day, so I have lunch at a nicer shop. Banh mi coffee set 39,000 VND (220 JPY). Banh mi pate 19,000VND (107 yen) This banh mi is so delicious I’ve been using it many times on this trip It’s about time to check in Let’s go It seems that today’s accommodation is behind this place I booked it on Airbnb but… is it really up ahead? I have a bad feeling Airbnb 410,000VND (2,300 yen) per night It says it includes a toilet but the toilet is outside the room My honest impression… my honest impression…I can’t really say. Vietnam seems like a lot of things are crazy… Let’s pull ourselves together… I’m going to do some shopping now so is Vietnam really cheap!? Let’s go and check it out. We went to the reliable Aeon Sushi for 65,000 VDN (365 yen). Leaving aside the quality of the ingredients, it’s cheaper than in Japan: strawberries for 120,000 VDN (674 yen) , 1kg of sweet potatoes for 29,900 VDN (167 yen), 1kg of potatoes for 25,000 VDN (140 yen), 1kg of tomatoes for 20,000 VDN (113 yen), 1kg of carrots for 16,000 VDN (90 yen) . Vegetables and fruits are all available here at low prices, there ‘s a wide variety of rice , and best of all, it’s cheap! 5kg of Japanese rice 149,000VDN (836 yen) Japanese rice has become this much 🙏 There are also Japanese manufacturers of diapers and a wide variety of them, but the prices vary so it’s hard to generalize, but I feel like the Japanese brands are a little more expensive than buying them in Japan Curry roux 58,900VDN (330 yen) There is also a wide variety of dressings Kewpie is doing a great job They sell basically everything from products you can’t find in Japan to Japanese products, so I think it’s a little cheaper than in Japan Coke 1.5L 16,500VDN (92 yen) Water 1.5L 7,500VDN (42 yen) I bought a lot of things, so I’ll introduce them when I get back Vietnam also has many major international chains, so even if Vietnamese food doesn’t suit your taste, you should be able to get by. KFC Domino’s McDonald’s There are many familiar stores such as Starbucks . Daiso Next up is Daiso. In Vietnam, everything costs 4,0000 VND, which is about 225 yen in Japanese yen. It ‘s more expensive than Japan, but it seems a little cheaper compared to other countries. A quick search shows that Daiso prices in other countries are like this: Daiso prices around the world: America 333 yen, Thailand 280 yen, Australia 321 yen, New Zealand 303 yen, Malaysia 208 yen. In most countries, it’s around 200-300 yen . When you’re abroad, it’s useful in emergencies and reassuring, but there’s no advantage to 100 yen… I’ll have dinner at Aeon . The kind staff member taught me how to use various things. Since I’m at Aeon, I bought some Japanese-style items. Unfortunately, the quality is quite low, and I won’t buy them again. The toilets are clean and there is a baby room. Essentials for when I get home : 997,838 VND (5,600 yen). I ended up buying some snacks for no reason, but rice and water 5,600 yen for necessities like diapers and snacks is quite cheap compared to Japan. In Japan, rice and diapers alone would probably cost more than this amount. Day 3 Good morning. Starting today, we’ll be sightseeing and eating lots of food. I’m still not used to this scenery. It’s so different from Japan that I don’t even know the traffic rules. If you’re thinking about going to Vietnam, be sure to check out this video. Hoan Kiem Lake A must-visit spot for tourists in Hanoi’s Old Quarter A place of relaxation loved by locals. Doesn’t seem like much of a tourist spot… I’m looking forward to going there at night as it’s lit up and looks beautiful. Let ‘s head to our next stop: Train Street. You can experience the thrill of walking onto the train tracks. One of Hanoi’s most popular tourist spots. I was looking forward to it but for some reason I couldn’t get in. I moved and tried to find another entrance . I couldn’t get in and the security guard had a pretty bad attitude… If anyone knows how to get in, please let me know. Let ‘s pull ourselves together and have lunch. PUKU Aussie beef burger 155,000 VDN (872 yen). A filling burger with a delicious meaty flavor . Chicken pizza 170,000 VDN (957 yen) . Cheap! Let’s take a look at the toilets too. The toilets are… well… okay… the toilets are… well… okay… it’s like this. You can’t flush the paper down the toilets. Thank you for the meal. The staff were fluent in English and kind. After I used my daughter’s own cutlery, they washed it for me at the end. The sidewalks have turned into motorbike parking lots so there’s no space to walk. There are plenty of convenience stores in Vietnam too. In Hanoi you often see Win Mart and Circle K. The atmosphere is no different to a small convenience store in Japan. They also sell rice balls. You never know where motorbikes are coming from in all directions. It’s amazing how no one gets into an accident. My daughter is taking a nap so I’ll go home for now. In search of dinner, I’ll head to the nearby shopping mall. VINCOM MEGA MALL KING BBQ. All-you -can-eat Korean barbecue. 279,000 VND (1,562 JPY). This is my third day in Vietnam. Is it because I haven’t had many decent meals? I suddenly had a craving for food, so I went to an all-you-can-eat yakiniku restaurant . It’s hard to see in the video, but there were a ton of small flies . My appetite suddenly disappeared… Checked the restrooms. The large shopping malls are relatively spacious and clean. When you’re touring tourist spots, it can be a hassle to not find a restroom, so it might be a good idea to stop by a place like this to use the restroom. I’ll head home and go to bed. Day 4. Good morning . I’ve been washing my clothes by hand since the morning. When I travel abroad, I wash my clothes and underwear frequently by hand. With small children, I change clothes a lot, so if I can’t keep up, I’ll go to the laundromat. I ordered curry for brunch on Grab. Indian food is high quality in every country, so I recommend eating curry when traveling abroad . Today I’m going to the old town again to enjoy some sightseeing and food. This city is chaotic again today lol . I honestly do n’t understand why there aren’t any accidents. I don’t think I could drive like this. I took a Grab to go eat from the Airbnb I’m staying at, but the road here is closed. Vehicles are closed from 7pm on Fridays. Apparently the road is closed all day every weekend, but the Grab driver didn’t know, so he kept going around in circles, saying he couldn’t go through here. He kept saying something in Vietnamese, but I didn’t understand, so he dropped me off right in front of here . From here, we’ll pass by Hoan Kiem Lake on the way to the restaurant. I was dropped off along the way, so I’m not sure what the fare will be, but I’ll try contacting Grab. I asked, but they didn’t reply. It’s now a pedestrian zone, so my daughter can walk freely for the first time in a while. First, we’ll go for some Vietnamese pho. It ‘s a must-eat when you come to Vietnam! Oh! A large building comes into view in front of me. It ‘s officially St. Joseph’s Cathedral, a Gothic-style church built in 1886 during the French colonial period. You can tour the interior of the building, and it’s popular as a wedding photo spot . I didn’t go inside this time, but the stained glass is beautiful and apparently can be viewed for free. It suddenly appeared in the middle of the city, and it’s impressive. It’s about a three-minute walk from here to the restaurant, but as usual , the sidewalks are n’t available. 10 A popular pho restaurant that has a queue every day Beef pho 70,000 VDN (394 yen) You can choose how cooked you want your meat, making it easy for even small children to eat Pho A light soup but with a strong flavor It’s also great that you can change the flavor with lime or chili pepper in the second half It changes the flavor completely so you can enjoy it twice There are so many on the table so you can add as much as you like It’s recommended to eat it without adding anything at first It was so delicious that I ate it all in one go The Pho I just visited, 10, is so popular that it seems like there are a lot of fake stores, so be sure to check the location in the description to avoid making a mistake Hoan Kiem Lake This might be a good place for couples The bridge reflected in the pond is beautiful Day 5 Good morning Today I’m heading to the Old Quarter Before that, I need some cash In Vietnam, there are many opportunities to pay with cash, so I’ll try to withdraw money from an ATM using the Wise card I showed you at the beginning The ATM can be switched to English, so just follow the steps Insert your card Enter your PIN Select withdrawal and the amount This time, there were no ATM fees when I withdrew with my Wise card. It was much more economical than exchanging foreign currency, so I was saved. ATM fees in Vietnam are about 100 to 400 yen , and the withdrawal limit is about 15,000 to 30,000 yen. By the way, it seems that ATMs in Vietnam often suck in cards and don’t come out, so it’s a good idea to carry at least two cards, including a spare. I was glad that I wasn’t injured this time. I came to the tourist area of the Old Quarter, but the atmosphere is just too Vietnamese 🇻🇳 It ‘s so free! This is a shop that sells precious metals and has the best exchange rate in Hanoi, so it’s a little confusing. Apparently, in Vietnam, there are many places that offer good deals when exchanging money at precious metals shops. Today, I would like to visit some famous tourist spots, but first, I’ll fill my stomach. BANH MI 25 I came to Hanoi’s most famous banh mi shop. There was a line from the morning, but I was able to get a seat without waiting much. There was a wide variety of banh mi to choose from, so it was hard to choose. They also sell leather souvenirs inside the shop. You can tell by looking at them that they’re delicious. I finished it in no time. It was delicious. This is a must-see when you come to Hanoi. Next, I’ll go see the World Heritage Site in the Old Quarter. As I was walking, I spotted an airplane and a tank . I found a huge statue that seemed to be a military museum. This is a statue of Lenin, made as a symbol of friendship between Russia and Vietnam. Who is Lenin? Right? Lenin , a Russian “revolutionary ,” led the Russian Revolution , and created the world’s first socialist state, the Soviet Union. He also had close ties to the socialist state of Vietnam, so a statue was erected. Socialist countries – land and factories belong to the country and society as a whole – aim to reduce the gap between rich and poor through wealth distribution – aim for worker-centered politics and economy Currently, there are only five socialist countries. Countries considered to be socialist countries: Vietnam, China , Laos , North Korea, Cuba. Thang Long Ruins : Entrance fee: 100,000 VND (560 JPY). Thang Long Ruins : Thang Long Ruins is the remains of a royal palace in the center of Hanoi. Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, was called Thang Long until around 1800. In 2010, it was registered as a World Heritage Site and became Hanoi’s most popular tourist destination. It’s gloomy weather, but it’s humid and hot . I take refuge in a Lotteria. Bulgogi burger (the only thing I didn’t like on my Vietnam trip). I head back to the hotel for a nap . I take a Grab to dinner at Huong Lien , a restaurant with a very local feel . It’s actually famous for being visited by former President Obama! They have an Obama set on the menu . The beer, noodles, and vegetables arrive within seconds of ordering. The Obama Combo is 130,000 VND (738 JPY). This is rice noodles dipped in a soup with a Vietnamese specialty, bun cha hamburger. It’s a dish you won’t find in Japan. It ‘s exquisite. I’m risking my life to cross here. Can I do this? I managed to get my laundry done just in time , as I had requested the day before . It felt like I was experiencing local life, which was great ! Let’s follow the locals as they cross the border and return. Part 2 will continue. Please subscribe to the channel and don’t forget to rate it highly next time. The second half of Vietnam : I still can’t go home. A chaotic city!? A city of fine cuisine!?
