Living the Dream in Vilcabamba: A Foreigner’s Raw Guide to Ecuadorian Life
[Applause] What’s up everybody? This is Carl from Abundant Living Ecuador and today is Good Friday and we’re going into town with Elelliana. We’re going to go buy some water and some gas um propane tanks that are in the back. And we’re going to be dropping off some stuff uh at the at the dump at the garbage dump. Some garbage out there. And that’s basically it. And we’re going to see what’s up in Vil Kabama, Ecuador on uh Good Friday. Holy Friday. Good Friday. Vieres Santo. Check it out. And by the way, those two gas tanks that last about probably a month or something depending on the usage were $2.50 each. So $5 for those gas tanks right there. [Music] All right. And so here I have some bananas from Kinada. Mhm. Whole bunch of bananas right here. $6 for the bunch. There you go. All right, I’m going to bite. Great bananas. Got to get some water over here. Then I also got some watermelons. Sandas. 375 each. These are big. These are nice and big. And by the way, might as well show you what I’m drinking. Oh, it’s empty. But, uh, coconuts, $2. They were fresh, um, in the fridge. So, cold. Very, very nice. Also, my wife wanted me to buy some colloidal silver. We’ve been nebulizing the collodial silver for bacteras, viruses, and all of that. Um, she’s been doing that anyways. So, the whole big bottle of collal silver was $20. Oh, and by the way, this is how you hang bananas. So, you hang them up from this this thing. Um, if you hang them upside down on the other side, basically the bananas will eventually ripen and and come off. So, that’s a nice bunch of bananas here. Another thing is that we have a bunch of aloe vera here that we grow in pots and uh we like it. It’s actually really good. Have it over there and over here. So, I took some leaves and I’m basically soaking them in water. Um, so basically all the bitter stuff ends up uh going down there. I only put those in today, this morning. Um, but basically it’s it’s kind of gooey and stuff. I’ll show you how to how to make it tomorrow morning. I blend it and uh it’s actually really really healthy for you. Really healthy for your digestive system. Hey, just wanted to show you guys I am making some vegan peanut butter chocolate truffles. This is my workstation right here. Check it out. So, this is basically my workstation. I make those into balls. These are the peanut butter flavor. Um, and I will cover them here with some organic cacao paste. And they will become like that. They haven’t dried yet. And then I put them in the fridge. And this is the final product. So, these are organic vegan chocolate truffles. Peanut butter chocolate truffles. These are um these are great. Uh some people like them a lot. And basically, I’m making them with some organic peanut butter. There you go. Like that. Very very yummy. from Ecuador from Chiwar Bamba and then some cacao paste which I will sweeten with cane juice, organic cane sugar and basically uh this is the this is the final product right here and I am coming up with some other flavors so stay tuned. All right. So, there’s this guy here that sells here right there from the street lights here in Vilka Bomba. He sells all of these medicinal drinks. And this what I’m drinking is tuna, which is cactus cactus juice with kampuri or uh amargo. It’s very bitter. It’s a bitter herb from Peru. And very good. I’m going to try [Music] that. Oh. It’s awful. Awful. But check it out. Hey guys, thanks so much for tuning in. Taking this quick break to remind you we run Vil Kabomba lifestyle retreats. If you’re interested in checking out this area, hanging out with us, getting all the information you could possibly want and having a great time. Check out the links below. Thanks so much. Back to the program. They give you another glass of aloe vera. It’s a little sweet with linasa and all that aloe vera linas. Panella. Yeah. And this gracias, it’s about 50 cents here. 50 cents for the whole thing. Gracias. Hey guys, just wanted to show uh you guys this is the aloe vera that I soaked for 2 days in water. Um basically all of the bitterness comes out in the water which is wonderful. Um and I’ll show you that real quick. All right. So, I would basically um get this aloe vera and cut the sides, which are pretty spiky. Cut those. And basically, you’re going to cut the skin there. There you go. Cheek. Boom. And um you have this beautiful aloe vera gel. And technically you could cut it like here and get all the gel here. And so normally it’s super bitter. Like extremely extremely bitter. I’m just going to show you guys. I’m not not going to lie. I’m not lying. Uh I’m just going to show you. Okay. So, it’s still a little bit bitter, but definitely way better. It’s It’s actually fine. Like, you could just eat it like that, but we’re going to It’s very gooey. So, we’re going to blend it and make into a drink. All right. All right. So, I took out the gel of a whole leaf of aloe vera and I’m going to be putting it, look at this gooey, gooey. Putting it into the blender. and turning it into a drink. All right. So, I’m going to add one cup of water and two teaspoon of delicious honey. This is uh honey from Portoarpus National Park. Great for I mean it’s great. It’s actually really really tasty. And I’m just going to blend it. And I think this, you know, it’s nice. It’s a little bit bitter. Not very much. There’s a nice touch of honey and stuff. It’s actually uh it’s actually great. Great for your digestive system. great for um there’s bunch of vitamin C, vitamin vitamins, minerals, and all of that. And uh got my beautiful property here. Very good spot. So, I just wanted to show you something random. I’m making some treats for my dogs. And basically, I am grinding some oat. So, oats. So, it’s basically oat flour with some with some um sprouts with some lentil sprouts and a whole bunch of eggs. And I mix this with uh with uh basically I mix it together. And I there’s there’s this beautiful little paste there. And then I’m going to put it in the air fryer and make them into balls. And the dogs look at that. Good girl. Sit down. Stay down. Stay. Stay. Go. Good girl. [Music] down. Sit. Sit. Down. Down. It’s our little home over here. The kids are jumping on the trampoline. Crazy. And check it out. But we have a little treehouse over there. Pretty cool. I need to fix it up. And the moon is out about to watch the stars and hang out on a Tuesday evening. Once again, we are here at Addicted Gym. Great gym here in Vilabama, Ecuador. Check it out. Look at the beautiful views right from here. Great viewpoint of Bil Kabomba. Look at the beautiful mountains over there. This is south. You go down into Peru on the Pan-American Highway. This is the Addicted Gym. All right. So, I’m about to go on the scale. Wow. So, believe it or not, I made a video about a month, month and a half ago. I weighed about 200 lb. I weigh now uh 213 214 lb. So, I basically gained 14 lb uh in a month, month and a half. That being said, I was doing a juice cleanse, a juice fast, so I was I wasn’t eating any um solid food, which is, you know, why I was I was quite a bit lighter. Plus, I’ve gained a lot of uh muscles. Actually, I I have gained a little bit of fat for sure. Uh but I’m eating a fully plant-based diet, basically vegan diet. Uh and I’ve actually gained quite a bit of strength. Uh I actually feel I actually feel really good, feel really strong, and feel very uh very uh very healthy. So, anyways, um this is the gym, Addicted Gym. Here it is $25 a month. Uh so, you can come and sign up for a month. Otherwise, it’s $3 per session. And it’s great, great gym, great gym to have here in Vilabomba, Ecuador. We hope to see you here one day in Vila Bomba, southern Ecuador. And until then, see you next time. Hey guys, we’re here in Vilka Bomba with the Abundant Living team. I want to try those treats!🤣My mom made similar ones for the Pomeranians and her friends husband ate them one day not knowing they were for the dogs and he really liked them!
Planning on exploring Ecuador for a couple years to determine if this is where we will settle. This video is really interesting because one of our lifestyle goals is to increase consumption of fruits & vegetables. Reminds me I need to watch & read more about what additional fruits & veggies I want to gather to try as soon as we arrive.
That is a wonderful life 🎉❤ You rock Carlitos 😊
Wait, wait! As a chocoholic who is also addicted to peanut butter, I expect to get samples, when I see you next!!! You should do a cookbook for us non-vegans. Take care of that beautiful family.
Great video.
Treats look delicious.
Dog treats came out nice too. Lentil sprouts very cool, i make those too.
Love to see this as this is how I choose to eat as well, which I'm sure would work out great for me down there.
Did you move your dogs or are they from Ecuador.
If you moved them, how did that go?
Thank you😊🙏🌍
Good to see you back at it Carl – buena suerte !
