Hello from Yunnan hearty breakfast prepared by the hotel it’s getting colder these few days after breakfast we will depart to Lijiang otw there we will stop by Shaxi old town which is also the famous China drama filming location a lot of uphill driving luckily we book a private car service driver stopped by this beautiful spot for us to take picture finally here after 2hrs plus of driving looks like a really quiet and peaceful town the water is so clear the town looks so beautiful under sunshine loving the vibe here walking and saw many people taking photo of the coffee shop that’s the shop that appeared a lot in the drama but there is a long queue we will skip this time a huge tree that is 300 yeras old the town was an important stop of the ancient Tea Horse Trail many buildings are well preserved here cute doggie taking nap walking while listening to flowing water sound is relaxing it’s already lunch time and we just randomly pick a restaurant with a nice view of the street got a stir fried chicken and egg with a mushroom / fungi (Shu Hua) I had never seen before boss said it can only be found on mountain with clean fresh air did not expect much but it is really good texture is a bit crunchy and chewy plus very flavourful walked pass a street with beautiful Ginkgo tree nice bright yellow colour nearby the river there are live singing performance this place makes me feel like slowing down and enjoy the moment we spent a good time here now let’s head to Lijiang it’s another 1hr plus of driving and we are in Lijiang our hotel is located inside the Lijiang Ancient Town and hidden in a small alley it’s cozy and calming and they have a giant size doggie ‘Tiantian’ the room is also clean and nice we dropped our luggage and went down to play with Tiantian so cute and fluffy he is 160pounds XD even heavier than me showing off his roar to get a snack time to explore the town at night time we need to wake up early tomorrow for the snow mountain so we will just have dinner and a short walk tonight randomly picked a restaurant the peppermint & crispy pork is quite nice this vege is famous in Yunnan with with the silky texture feeling warm and rejuvenated after a nice meal I got attracted by the smell of the red date cake it tastes really nice and fragrant it’s 7am in the morning grabbed something for breakfast and we are heading to mountain the sky is getting brighter and the sunrise reflecting on the snow mountain it turned into golden colour so pretty worth to wake up early for this view there are 3 cable car routes here the one to Yulong Snow Mountain is under maintenance today so we visited the Yun Shan Ping instead many tourists came here by joining one day trip online luckily our hotel owner was able to arrange a private car for us let’s get some steaming hot bun a wild goat spotted the forest under morning sunshine looks dreamy the sunlight beams on green moss is so pleasant to see the path to observation deck is about 1km through the mystical forest I can see the snow mountain from here we couldn’t go up to snow mountain due to maintenance but seems like the view here is really nice too sometimes it’s not too bad when plan changed it often leads to unexpected beautiful views I got so hungry after all the walking let’s grab a simple lunch at the cafe maybe because I am hungry the egg and cheese bagel taste so good got down from cable car and took the bus to Blue Moon Valley it’s a blue colour lake at the foot of Yulong Snow Mountain the water is crystal clear there are people taking photo in traditional costume I actually wanted to try it but it might takes some time and we still have places to go later wow the tiffany blue colour I rented a traditional costume XD there was a small rental shop nearby so I decided to get one I can wear this while visiting the village all the houses here are built with stones and rocks 😂 since we here we decided to take a short horse riding it’s kinda scary and taller than it looks I am using my whole body strength to keep myself balance XD really strong wind and cold here luckily the costume keep me warm we took a 20mins ride around the lake it was a new experience thank you Mr Horse back to Lijiang Old Town for dinner the weather is really cold today we will be having hotpot I am exhausted after a full day of activies we went back to rest after dinner waking up to this nice garden view feeling refreshed since the start of the day we are checking out the hotel today but I haven’t really got chance to explore the old town yet so we will spend time in the old town today till late evening and play with Tian tian in the garden he is still sleepy in the morning XD the owner will be taking Tian tian out for a walk and invited us to follow along he is taking us uphill where you get to see the whole town what a view he looks tired after climbing uphill the old town looks so different in the morning and night it’s cozy and peaceful in the morning and lively at night now let’s go check out some shops thinking of buying tea since it is Yunnan speciality lady boss is friendly and patiently explain to us the types of tea I have learnt that a good quality tea should have clear bright colour with a soothing, fragrant taste got a Pu’er tea for parents lunch time i am loving all these cozy window seats in Yunnan ordered a set meal with 4 dishes and the portion surprised us not sure about the name of this vege but it tastes really good with the mushrooms sour fish is very soft and appetizing pork belly is deep fried to be very crunchy and flavourful I always like century egg but this one taste a bit different from usual the rest of the day we just wander around in the town and I thought of having a warm afternoon tea found a nice shop with beautiful yard we will take a break here the osmanthus milk tea is served in a set with fruits and snacks I’ve always wanted to try this in cold weather it feels so cozy and warm cute puppy playing in the yard I enjoyed the quiet time till the sky darkened we shall be moving to our last hotel in Lijiang now the hotel is located in a more remote area I booked this place to experience waking up to the snow mountain view they prepared a light dessert as refreshment can’t see any view now so let’s go back to room there is not much eateries nearby so we ordered food delivery grilled skewers are the best for a night like this but it’s so cold today that the food is not warm anymore at least the taste is good woke up to this 🥺 the sky is glowing as the sun rises going down to the garden for fresh air and the breathtaking view it’s so cold even the water has frozen what a peaceful and calming morning it’s cold so let’s eat something to warm up myself the stay included a set of breakfast this siew mai is different from what I usually eat the filling is rice instead of prawn and meat XD we will be leaving Lijiang today before that I wanted to visit the Baisha Old Town nearby they offer a ride to and from the old town if you are staying at the hotel it’s only a 5 mins driving this seems like a very tranquil and quiet town it’s getting popular recently because of the snow mountain view the small alley looks like a painting I smell fresh steamed bun and got a rose bun without sugar that textue is good but better buy the one with sugar XD the shops along the street are cute and nostalgic how nice if I have a house with window like this got attarcted by a unique coffee shop it’s filled with coffee aroma as soon as I open the wooden door giving me a nostalgia of old times with the rustic feel only coffee beans and black coffee are sold here some beans are unique like whisky or rose infused although price is on higher side it seems like a good quality beans speaking of coffee I feel like having a cup of latte the cafe has upstairs seating that you can look at the snow mountain but the balcony was so crowded I rather just sit facing the yard it’s not too bad either coffee is simple but it’s the ambience of the cafe that makes it special found a restaurant that serve Cantonese cuisine chestnut and braised pork soft and tender with subtle sweetness of chestnut goes so well with white rice nice comforting meal before leaving Lijiang picked up our luggages from hotel and depart to Kunming city arrived in Kunming after 3.5hrs of train our hotel is just next to the old street there are many eateries and food to try here we will just try different street food as dinner today this mini bean cake (仙豆糕) is really good it’s still warm and soft with smooth sweet potato paste and mochi inside I didn’t manage to capture the hotel name yesterday it is simple but clean and near to the shopping street we rest in hotel till brunch time and came out to find food today is our last day here so we will just take it slow I spent long time deciding what to eat this looks like a nice local delicacy spicy rice noodle with tofu spicy potato wedges and deep fried pork a very thick cut of potato deep fried pork is normal but the rice noodle is delicious spicy and rich broth is perfect for weather like this we walked to Green Lake park seagulls started flying to Yunnan during winter time is ‘wooo’ the way of communicating with seagulls XD wow look at the yellow ginkgo trees beautiful there is a lady feeding squirrel it is so chubby and cute! the park is bigger than I expected saw tanghulu and I must get one huge and juicy strawberry and it’s only RMB10 nearby the park there is a street with many ginkgo trees we leisurely strolled around the city till evening back to the old street near hotel for food then we will be heading to the airport this is a Pu’er tea base tang yuan with four different flavours of tang yuan this is savoury ham and there are peanuts, black sesame and rose flavours found a nice restaurant nearby to have our dinner the PuErh tea pork bone is very crispy and juicy randomly picked this stir fried pork with mushroom and it was so good very flavourful and full of ‘wok hey’ XD a satisfying meal to end our Yunnan trip I enjoyed the chill vibe and nice food in Yunnan
