Welcome to Yubari. I was alone in my precious city. This is the mock mine tunnel at the Coal Museum. It is a real tunnel that has been renovated. There is an enormous sense of pressure. I’m claustrophobic so I want to get out quickly. This is a tunnel where coal was mined 30 to 40 years ago, so it is definitely worth seeing. You can even touch the coal seams. Let’s go back in time and start from the entrance of the Coal Museum. In Japan, it is not permitted for individuals to take videos in museums and memorial halls, but I was told it was OK here. This is the surface tunnel leading to the mine. I’m a coward, so it’s a bit sad. It looks like this machine is used to dig a tunnel. This is where the real mine begins. In Yubari, there have been several mine accidents, resulting in many deaths. This is one of them. I’m going to say hello to the gods at Yubari Shrine. Take a stroll along Cinema Street in Honcyo. Japanese tourists are also less likely to visit. The hotel where you can stay is not operational. The ski resort here is open, but the hotel is not. That seems kind of weird, doesn’t it? I buy Usagiya’s cinnamon donuts, a famous Yubari confectionery. The soccer field I visited when I was young. I’ll eat soba noodles. It’s a retro shop. This is Shimizusawa Shopping Street. It’s really quiet. The cafeteria that was there when I was here before is no longer there. It’s a shame. Oyubari Station ruins. Buses and freight cars from 40 years ago. Superior Dam Beneath this lake there was once a city with a population of 20,000. When I watch YouTube, I see people criticizing Yubari, and as a fellow Japanese, I feel ashamed and sad. Kuriyamacho Station. We’re going to a retro restaurant in Kurisawa-cho. This soy sauce ramen is the type from 50 years ago. It’s light and delicious. Finally, we will take a dip in Naganuma Onsen in Naganuma Town. Thank you for watching. I would be happy if you would register. いく街が夕張なんです。
今は、人が少なくなりものすごく静かです。
何かのきっかけで、人々が行き交う街になってほしいです。
若い頃から旅など、したことがなく
人生終盤になって、ひとり旅に目覚めました。
一言では言えませんが、とにかく楽しいですよ
北海道の素晴らしい景色にいる自分、なんか何処となく彷徨っている自分
