The Village Where the Sun Rises Twice – Transylvania’s Most Beautiful Village

This is the most beautiful village in all of Transylvania… and I’m about to show you why! Here’s what’s coming… This is the most beautiful village in all of Transylvania… and I’m about to show you why! Tucked between dramatic mountains and timeless houses, it feels like stepping into another world A place where the past meets the present, and culture thrives amidst breathtaking landscapes This is the kind of place where time slows down, and life follows a gentler rhythm. And here’s something magical—Rimetea is known as the village where the sun rises twice On July mornings, the sun first peeks above the valley, then slips behind the cliffs Moments later, it rises again — filling the rooftops with golden light. Now just relax… let the sound of footsteps and the whispers of the village guide you Because what you’re about to discover is a world unlike any other — a place time almost forgot As we walk through the main street, notice the architecture. The houses are painted white, with green wooden shutters and stone foundations. Each doorway feels like part of a story, decorated with flowers, rugs, or old wooden gates. WOW… these walls are ALIVE… with flowers! A true feast for the eyes. Alright, let’s step inside and see what a little local restaurant looks like — you’re gonna love this! This place is tiny… but it’s magic! And here’s the menu — no fancy design, just pure tradition It honestly feels like sitting at someone’s home, where every dish is made with love. But if you want to see a truly WOW restaurant under the open sky, stay until the end — the dishes there are next-level. And right here you can grab some homemade goodies — jars of jam, sweet preserves, and even zacusca. If you’ve never heard of it, zacusca is a traditional spread made from roasted vegetables — smoky, rich, and absolutely addictive And now, check out this view — the tallest tower in Rimetea! Let’s see it from above! Standing in the heart of Rimetea, this tower was finished back in 1670. And from up here, you get a stunning view over the village This village is bursting with flowers — and you’ll be seeing them everywhere in this video! Families worked hard to preserve the old charm while adding just enough comfort for daily life. Here’s a cozy little café where you can already stop for something refreshing and delicious. Would you stop here for a drink? Or maybe try a homemade dessert? Look at these baskets of flowers — aren’t they beautiful? Do you guys like dogs? Maybe you even have one at home — what’s their name? And now we’re inside… and wow, it’s packed with handmade treasures! Mountains… you’ll keep seeing them, ‘cause I’m in love with these views! Mountains are amazing… but these houses? So perfectly aligned, like something out of a postcard — I could admire them all day! They’re not just beautiful — they’ve been carefully restored Starting in 1996, the Transylvania Trust launched a massive conservation program Over 138 old houses were rehabilitated using traditional materials and methods The project earned Rimetea the prestigious Europa Nostra medal in 1999 — a top European award for heritage preservation If you enjoy the video, please give it a thumbs up! It means a lot to me, thank you so much!🙏 Here we are, right in the heart of Rimetea. Today feels different — the village is alive! It’s a national holiday in Romania, Saint Mary’s Day, and more people than usual have come out to celebrate. Families are strolling along the streets. Visitors sit down at local restaurants, enjoying traditional food. Others stop to take photos of the white houses and the mountain views. And look up — some people are even flying over Rimetea with paragliders! Would you dare to try it if you were here? This gentleman sells plums — and the famous plum brandy, pălincă! Unique colors. Unique views. Put them together — and you get the magic of Rimetea. Let’s see what we find in this store This is one of the favorite spots for photos — especially for ladies. And the best part? You don’t need to be a pro photographer… with this backdrop, every picture turns out stunning! Look up—Piatra Secuiului dominates the landscape. Locals say the mountain guards the village And here we are at the Rimetea Monastery The exterior is absolutely stunning, with its bright white walls, golden details, and those elegant domes rising into the sky It’s a true architectural gem. Inside, it seems filming isn’t allowed, but even from the outside, it leaves a powerful impression I know some of you ladies love flowers — so these little colorful breaks are for you But, gentlemen, don’t scroll away, I’ve seen plenty of guys enjoy them too And this here is a lángos — a real local favorite in this region, and originally from Hungary Mine is loaded with cheese, sour cream — simple, but so tasty You can tell it’s a holiday today — just look at all these cars lined up! Normally, Rimetea feels much quieter, and if you’d like, I also have videos showing the village almost empty Trust me, it has a completely different charm then It’s said that the mountain stands like a guardian of the village Hiking to the top takes about two hours, but the view is unforgettable. Fields stretch like a quilt, and Rimetea looks tiny below. Would you rather climb to see it, or sit at a table with a glass of wine and watch the colors change with the light? Is this even real? A rose with two colors, looking like it’s been painted by hand And this house right here… I swear, I’d love it as my vacation home Simple, cozy, and honestly — I adore it! Walking through this village makes me feel incredibly relaxed. Even if the sun is hot, the worries and stress just disappear Life here is so different from the city, where I was born and where I still live. There’s something special about slowing down, hearing your own footsteps, and breathing fresh air Walking in nature isn’t just exercise — it clears your mind, lowers stress, and makes you feel alive. That’s why being here feels like stepping into another world… one where time moves slower, and peace is everywhere If you liked this video, a simple thumbs up would really help! Thanks a million for your support! 🙏 Next time, I’d love to rent a bike I’m sure exploring Rimetea on two wheels would be a whole new and exciting experience. And now, let’s enjoy something truly unique together — the old village mill This place is pure authenticity, the kind you rarely find today Outside, you’ll find dreamy views, the soft sound of water, and corn cobs hanging like timeless decorations. And inside, you’ll find objects that are hundreds of years old, each with its own story. It feels like stepping into a living storybook… and now, I’ll let you soak in the view. If you stay overnight, the guesthouses are charming and authentic. Rooms are inside old stone houses with thick walls and traditional furniture. Handwoven carpets decorate the floors, and wooden beds creak with history Prices vary by season, usually ranging from €40 to €100 per night. Breakfast often includes homemade jam, fresh milk, and warm bread straight from the oven. Would you book a balcony facing the mountain, or a courtyard where you hear roosters at dawn? Just catching some shade — I kinda forgot the sunscreen, and the summer sun here doesn’t play around! At least this tiny river keeps me company — its gentle murmur is better than any playlist. WOW… this village never stops surprising. The stream, the flowers, the quiet streets and the view — it’s pure calm Not just a hole in the ground — this was an entrance to Rimetea’s old mining tunnels The village once lived from mining, and traces of that history are still here. The mix of these houses and the mountain views is just pure magic Rimetea is also proud of its artisans. In small shops you’ll find wool blankets woven for mountain winters. Willow baskets, sturdy and light, sit by the door. Embroidered cloths tell stories through their colorful patterns. Buying here isn’t just a souvenir—it’s a way to support skills passed down for generations. If you were to choose, would you take home a warm blanket or a handwoven basket? Did you ever have grandparents in the countryside? Do these images of the village bring back memories for you? WOW! Look at this view! Haystacks, rooftops, and mountains… this is the countryside dream! It’s the kind of view that makes you stop, breathe deep, and just smile The dog may not be the friendliest face in the village… but hey, he’s just doing his job as a guard Enjoyed the journey? A like would mean the world to me — thank you so much for being here! Getting to Rimetea is actually easy. From Cluj-Napoca, it’s just about 1 to 1.5 hours by car And if you’re flying in, Cluj also has the nearest airport This village may look small… but it has a big heart. Rimetea is home to just about a thousand people — that’s it Most of them are Hungarian, and they call the village by its Hungarian name: Torockó For centuries, people here worked in the mines and forged iron — that’s what kept the village alive Today, things are different Locals welcome visitors, sell handmade crafts, and share their traditions with anyone who walks these streets. And here’s what makes it even more special: life here moves slower People actually know each other, they greet you with a smile, and it feels like stepping back in time This is not just a place you visit… it’s a community you get to feel Now we’re on a hidden path From here, you see the villagers’ gardens And behind them… the mountains In the end, simple life might just be the best life — and the healthiest one too. This kids are riding their bikes through the village — they look like locals They don’t know it yet, but one day they’ll remember this great childhood for the rest of their lives Right now we’re at Király in Rimetea — one of the most beautiful guesthouses in the area The views from here are just insane: you wake up with the Székelykő and the Trascău mountains right outside your window. Just imagine having dinner here — mountains towering in the background, the village at your feet, and it all feels almost unreal. Or picture yourself having breakfast up here — there’s simply no better way to start the day It really does feel like we’ve stepped into paradise, doesn’t it? The guesthouses feel like a fairy tale — set among green fields and mountains Birds are singing, kids are laughing on the playground, and everywhere you look, nature and village life blend perfectly together This is the kind of place where time slows down, and you can finally breathe We can even hear Hungarian folk music floating through the air. Now we’re heading towards the edge of the village — let’s see what surprises are waiting for us there No matter how long I stay here, I just can’t get enough of this view Every time I look up, the mountains feel even more powerful, the air even fresher, the whole scene more alive Nature here isn’t just beautiful — it’s breathtaking This is a surprise just for those of you who love cars: we’ve got a classic beauty parked here A vintage convertible that turns heads I’m not sure exactly which model it is — maybe a Cadillac from the ’60s? Can someone tell us in the comments what model this beauty really is? Just a short dravi away lies Colțești Fortress, also known as Trascău Fortress. And here in the same village you’ll also find the most famous restaurant in the area — no way we’re skipping that Legend says this fortress was first built around 1296 by the Thoroczkay family It was perched high on a limestone ridge, watching over the land. Through the centuries, the fortress was destroyed, rebuilt, and later abandoned — and now it’s finally being restored. From the drone, you can spot the scaffolding, the crumbling towers, and the steep cliffs dropping into the valley It feels like watching history come back to life, in a place that’s half legend and half reality We’ve made it to Székelykő Mansion in Colțești, and this place is more than a restaurant — it’s an experience. Tucked between mountains, the view alone makes every meal unforgettable The food brings the spirit of Transylvania to your plate — rich flavors, local cheese, and traditional dishes So I went for a plate of sarmale — cabbage rolls served with sour cream and a slice of smoked pork on the side To go with it, a refreshing homemade lemonade And for dessert, I had to try the house specialty Cow’s curd cheese doughnuts, topped with blueberry jam and sour cream These aren’t just any sweets, they’re the stars of the region And I can tell you — they taste just as amazing as they look! Sorry for making you crave them… that’s the risk of traveling with me! And the bill? Just 119 lei — that’s about €24 or $27. And it even comes in this cute little box, which honestly makes paying almost fun! From above, Castelul Templul Cavalerilor looks like a fortress hidden in a storybook Surrounded by cliffs and rolling hills, its red rooftops stand out against the wild beauty of the Apuseni Mountains And this is how Rimetea looks from above as the sun sets But here’s the secret: the sun actually “sets” earlier in Rimetea, because it’s surrounded by high hills and steep cliffs If you made it all the way to the end, you’re truly special — and I loved having you with me on this journey! But hey, don’t stop here If you loved this video wait until you see my other videos — hidden villages, epic landscapes, stunning towns and islands you won’t believe are real So hit that like button if you enjoyed this adventure, and make sure to watch the next video — because trust me, it’s even better.
