Nara ๐ŸฆŒ & Uji ๐Ÿต in 1 Day | Nara Deer, Todaiji Temple, Uji Matcha ๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ต Vlog

[Music] Good morning everybody. Welcome to day two of our Japan trip. Uh, surprisingly enough, we’re kind of the only ones here in this area of the station. So that’s giving me a little bit of pause. But I think we’re on the right track this time. Let’s end the bad streak of um commuting in the wrong way. So today it’s going to be very exciting cuz we’re going to go to Nara which is about an hour away by express train from Kyoto station where we are right now. And then after that we’re going to head to Uji which is the home of the nation’s matcha. So first in Nada Park we’re going to go and see the deer and Toddi Temple. And then we’re going to head over to Uji right after that. Now, we’re just going to wait here for the train for a few minutes. They’re here, right next to me. Here they are waiting for the train. Do you guys think we’re in the right direction? Yes, I believe so. [Music] Heat. Heat. N. [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat. [Music] [Music] We’re at the Tajayi Temple Grounds now. And as soon as we got off the bus stop, I feel like overwhelmed, like in a good way. I feel so happy. Guys, wait till you see how many deer there are. [Music] [Music] head. We’re on our way to Toadi Temple now. We got kind of sidetracked at the entrance cuz there’s so many deer. This is nice. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] After the Toai um main gate, you have to line up and get your tickets. Uh yesterday at Komizer, it was 500 yen per person, so we’ll see how much it is here. But we’re really enjoying ourselves, guys. Mimi got one. Oh my god. Oh my gosh. It’s so beautiful. My camera’s out of out of Oh my gosh. [Music] What are you doing? Heat. Heat. [Music] You got to be creative, guys. Time to buy a souvenir. I’m so excited. Or this one. Or this one. scored some nice goods. Mom bought this um bag, red bag with a cream. I bought this blue bag with flowers. So, now we’re finished with Nakar. Bye-bye. We’re supposed to go to Uji now, but it’s a really long commute to get there, like an hour plus. So, what we’re going to do is we’re just going to grab something to eat, even just from the convenience store, because we’re hungry. We ate breakfast at 4:00 a.m. We haven’t eaten since. So, first order would be to find anything to eat. [Music] [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Hey guys, I’m here with a voice over now to kind of just explain the last few clips of us in Uji. So, first of all, I would like to say Uji was very beautiful, but as you can tell, we went during the summertime, which I know a lot of people sway tourists from visiting Japan in the summertime, and it’s very valid, guys, because I think we ended up being close to having a heat stroke. Hence why there’s a lack of clips in this last part. Once we arrived in Uji, we went through the Uji Bridge was just beautiful. And I wish I had more time to spend there. But the walk from the train station to the place we wanted to go to, which is Tuen, the oldest tea house in the world. The walk there was excruciatingly hot. Do not recommend. And then when we arrived at Tuen, even though it said online that it was open, only a section of it was open. So only the gift shop and the ice cream shop was open. The actual restaurant itself was not. I think it might be closed during the weekends. And we went here on a Sunday, I believe. So, that was a bummer. I think this is why I call these travel vlogs and not travel guides. If you’ve seen my travel guides in Korea and whatnot, those are very well researched. I came in there with a plan. After we got some ice cream and tuin to just keep us alive, we went to Nakamura Tokichi, which is a well-known tea house as well, but it was jampacked. And you could already tell that we would have to spend like at least half an hour waiting for a table. And at this point, we were really hungry, not just for sweets and matcha, but for like an actual proper meal. And actually, I think it was kind of a blessing in disguise because we found this really cute, very cozy restaurant. The owner, I’m assuming she was the owner, and our server was super nice, and it was a very calm place to be, and only locals were dining there. Highly recommend it. I ordered some matcha soba, which is so unique, guys. There is a very faint taste of matcha and it was really good. All of the side dishes we had as well were Kyoto classic side dishes. So, it was so good and my mom couldn’t stop raving about it. Everything she ate, she really liked and I loved my meal as well. So, yeah, we just enjoyed our time. Thank you. My taste for match. I don’t know. Very fluffy. This is the cafe, guys. Cafe Mumiji. But you have to go up the second floor over here. Highly recommend. It’s next to an matcha ice cream place. And then afterwards, I was planning on buying some matcha, but at that time, I think it was already maybe 100 p.m. A lot of places were packed with people. and you could tell that their matcha was running out. You guys know there’s a matcha shortage right now. This is recorded in 2025. Maybe that’ll change in the future. But to be honest, the inconveniences we had today and day one in Kyoto were actually quite minor. It was just because of the heat that made it seem like major inconveniences. I’m sure if we had walked around Uji in the fall or in the spring, it really would not have been a big deal. Actually, it would have been fun to just sightsee and just walk around, but because it was so hot and humid, it just felt exhausting. And like I said, we almost did have a heat stroke. But yeah, after that, we actually just quietly headed on back to Kyoto, went back to our hotel. We ended up eating dinner just at Kyoto station. We just got some bento boxes and that was fine. I didn’t want to end this on a sour note. The reality is things didn’t go to plan, but we carry on. That’s just what happens when you travel, especially when you travel without like super concrete plans. Hopefully, your Japan trip will go on smoother, but not to worry, we still have day three of our time in Kyoto, which was also very fun. So, I’ll see you guys then. Thank you so much for watching, and I hope you learned something new. See you guys.
