【草津の隠れ宿】湯畑徒歩圏内!広々館内でゆったりくつろぐ老舗名旅館|草津ホテル1913
One of Japan’s three most famous hot springs. A purely Japanese-style hot spring inn founded 112 years ago, where the culture of massaging the hot springs has been passed down. Enjoy sukiyaki with tender beef. A hot spring directly from the source. An open- air bath where you can enjoy two types of hot springs. This channel shows a couple enjoying their many hobbies. If you are interested in the video, please subscribe to the channel. Please enjoy until the end of the video. “Happiever Channel” Today’s destination is Kusatsu Onsen. Get off the highway at “Ikaho Interchange”, which is also known as Ikaho Onsen. I wonder if the mountain you see in front of you is Kusatsu. On the way to Kusatsu, there was a section where the melody of “Kusatsu Bushi” was playing. After passing through the mountain road, we arrived at the gateway to Kusatsu Onsen. It’s about a two and a half hour drive from “Ikaho IC”. This time, we will be staying at a historic hotel near the Yubatake. “Kusatsu Hotel 1913” We arrived at our lodging for the night, Kusatsu Hotel 1913. There’s ample parking for guests. The wooden building of Kusatsu Hotel 1913 dates backover 100 years. Its stately exterior is a symbol of Kusatsu Onsen. The entrance is at the end of the two pine trees. The driveway is imposing and impressively large. We left our shoes there and changed into slippers inside. A cool breeze blew through the windows in the lobby lounge. Kusatsu Hotel is divided into five buildings. The large public bath and dining area are still new. After checking in, a waitress will guide you to your room. After check-in, hot coffee is served from 3:00 PM. Because it’s an old wooden building, there are no elevators. If you’re concerned, we recommend requesting a first-floor room when booking. Here’s a look at our room: It was 26,000 yen per person for one night with two meals. It was a spacious and modern room! (Large Japanese-style bedroom) I was drawn to the room’s atmosphere and booked the spacious bedroom. Sainokawara Park is visible to the right outside the window. The room is simple, but it offers ample storage space and comfortable chairs, allowing you to stretch out and relax. Since this building is 100 years old, some noise from the hallway and neighboring rooms can be heard. Yukata obi belts and towels are provided on the bed. The Kusatsu Hotel logo is very cute . The sink is very stylish. The two mirrors are also a nice touch. The restroom is also clean and very beautiful. A kettle, water, tea bags, mugs, and other items are provided. The refrigerator looks like this. There is no bath in the room, but there is a hair dryer. In the evening, we put on our haori coats and yukatas and headed to the Yubatake baths. We’ll show you what that was like in the second half of the video, so stay tuned! Scan the QR code for hotel information. You can check the room type information on the hotel’s website. After leaving our luggage at the hotel, we took a break in the quiet lobby. We received a complimentary welcome drink (hot coffee) and complimentary sweets from the gift shop. The hotel also sells Kusatsu-themed souvenirs. Kusatsu Hotel’s use of space and product displays are sophisticated, incorporating many ingenious ideas to delight guests. They also sell rice containers for cooked rice. The footbath cafe offers a relaxing space enveloped in the warmth of wood. The scenery and tranquility make you feel like you’ve traveled back in time, which is very soothing. There’s a footbath at the back of the cafe space. I love sightseeing, but I also love relaxing at a ryokan. How do you spend your time at an inn? Please let me know in the comments. Here’s an introduction to Kusatsu Hotel’s large hot spring bath. The corridor with three private baths is equipped with lockers for valuables, so you can feel safe and secure. *Photography permission has been granted. Kusatsu Hotel’s hot spring water is directly drawn from the source. The temperature of the hot spring is approximately 42°C(107℉), making it a comfortable temperature. There are two types of hot spring water: Nishinokawara and Bandai. The washing area was clean and easy to use. Cold water is also available for after-bath use. Relaxation corners are located throughout the hotel, which is a nice touch. Please subscribe to our channel! From here, we’ll be sharing a stroll around the Yubatake. Located in the center of Kusatsu Onsen, the Yubatake features approximately 4,000 liters of hot spring water gushing out every minute. The water’s temperature is lowered by exposing it to the open air. Souvenir shops and inns line the Yubatake area. We came here to try some deep-fried manju (fried buns). The heavy, crispy buns had a delicious crispy coating and sweet bean paste filling. Time to enjoy a soft serve made with fresh local free-range eggs! The rich egg flavor was satisfying, and they instantly cooled down my hot body. You can also enjoy a view of the Yubatake from the benches on the terrace. The Yubatake experience was cancelled, so we decided to stop by. We enjoyed the Yubatake until dinner time, when the monkeys from the Nikko Sarugundan performed a “Yu-momi” (hot spring massage). Now, we’ll be sharing a look at dinner, which started at 6:00 PM. The dining area has an open ceiling and a spacious design. The seats are well-spaced and the space is spacious. “Dinner Menu” We’ll start with the appetizers. The plum wine served with the appetizer , grilled duck marinated in sake koji miso, pork and vegetable rolls in sake malt miso, and white sesame sauce, was jointly developed by the Kusa Onsen Landlady Association and a local brewery. Its gorgeous aroma makes it the perfect aperitif. The white sesame sauce with asparagus offers a sweet and chewy flavor . The sake lees miso complements the vegetables and pork perfectly. The tenderly marinated duck meat had a rich, meaty flavor. “The rainbow trout” The rainbow trout from Gunma Prefecture has a subtle, unctuous flavor. The softly stewed pork and daikon radish pair perfectly with the tenderly stewed pork and daikon radish in the dashi broth! The elegant seasoning was so delicious I wanted seconds. The sweetfish simmered in sansho pepper was seasoned with a subtle hint of sansho pepper, bringing out the natural flavor of the ingredients. The main dish was beef sukiyaki. Rice and miso soup can be served at any time. Refills are available. The meat was tender and delicious, with a perfect balance of fatty and lean meat. The sweet sukiyaki sauce paired perfectly with the raw egg. In addition to beef, the hot pot also contained maitake mushrooms, green onions, tofu, and chrysanthemum. The sauce soaked into the tofu and maitake mushrooms, making them incredibly delicious! Kusatsu Hotel’s cuisine makes generous use of ingredients from Gunma Prefecture, allowing us to enjoy each dish. While they offer a room-only option, we highly recommend trying dinner if you stay overnight. For dessert, we had “kuzumochi” (kuzu rice cakes) with grapes and oranges. It was refreshing and delicious. After changing into our yukata, we headed to the illuminated Yubatake. It’s about a 7minute walk from Kusatsu Hotel to the Yubatake. The illuminated Yubatake is also bustling with activity. Kusatsu Onsen is popular with Japanese tourists, and seeing everyone wearing yukata creates a lovely atmosphere. The fantastic steam from the hot springs is very beautiful. The view from the temple on high ground. I tried the foot bath at the Yubatake. The hot spring water was quite hot. Don’t forget to bring a towel after your foot bath. Some inns will take you to the Yubatake by bus, but those within walking distance can easily come even at night. At night, the gentle lighting creates a different atmosphere than during the day. Let’s talk about Kusatsu Onsen. Kusatsu Onsen is known as one of Japan’s three most famous hot springs. It flourished as a therapeutic spa during the Muromachi period, and even Tokugawa Ieyasu is said to have ordered its hot springs during the Edo period. Kusatsu’s hot springs are highly acidic and have excellent antibacterial properties, so much so that it’s joked that they’re effective against everything except lovesickness. The “yu-momi” (massaging) method of cooling the hot spring water is a unique Kusatsu specialty. The “Yubatake,” the symbol of Kusatsu, exudes the aroma of sulfur in addition to the yu-momi (massaging) process. Kusatsu Onsen is located at an altitude of approximately 1,200 meters and is a popular summer resort. Kusatsu Hotel was founded in 1913. The wooden building retains the appearance of a traditional Japanese inn, brimming with Taisho-era romanticism (nostalgia). The soft, hot spring waters of Nishinokawara are used by only six hot spring inns in Kusatsu Onsen. As this building is over 100 years old, there are no elevators or soundproofing, so noise easily echoes. Please be careful not to disturb other guests. As we enjoyed the Yubatake, food tours, hot springs, and meals, it quickly became late into the night. Although it is a historic building, the rooms are air-conditioned, making it comfortable even as summer approaches. While Kusatsu Onsen has many hot springs, we had a particularly pleasant stay at Kusatsu Hotel. The next morning, “Kusatsu Onsen Character Yumomi-chan Socks” It’s time for breakfast! The room key doesn’t auto-lock, so be sure to lock it! We stayed on only three rooms on the floor. The building is decorated with exhibits and furnishings, giving it a museum-like feel. The wooden floors creak as you walk down the hallway, evoking the historic atmosphere of the building. “Breakfast Area” The dining area is bathed in ample morning sunlight. Both morning and evening, staff members guided us to our seats. Each dish was carefully prepared, which made me a little nervous. It was time for the long-awaited breakfast! The salmon, tamagoyaki, and simmered kelp tamagoyaki with thickly sliced kelp were delicious, with a homey flavor. The miso soup was chock-full of mushrooms. The stew contained meat, so the flavor was well-absorbed. There were plenty of rice side dishes, which made the rice go down very well. Finally, I’d like to introduce Gunma Prefecture’s specialty, “Himokawa Udon.” Located right in front of Kusatsu Hotel, “Himokawa Kamakichi” offers Himokawa Udon (served in a colander) . This seasonal offering features chilled sudachi udon. The noodles, about the width of a mouth, are rolled so thin you can practically see through to the other side. The broth was well-absorbed, chewy, and delicious. The sudachi(a small Japanese citrus fruit) flavor permeated the broth, creating a refreshing, summery flavor that was a real delight. The bowl and the sudachi were beautifully presented. This time, I introduced Kusatsu Onsen and Kusatsu Hotel. Summer is just around the corner, so why not relax in a cool place?
