MÉXICO ME ESTÁ VOLVIENDO LOCA 🇲🇽
– I’m really going crazy. – Why? – If there’s one thing in Mexico, it’s magical towns. – There are many. – But today I told my husband – that I’m not going to take you to just any magical town, – but a mystical place. – Opa. – whose surroundings are full of mystery, – many Mayans. – And we have the sweatshirt because it gets cold too. – Opa. Where is this woman going to take me? – You’ll see, – I know where to take me – If it’s cold, we’ll set it on fire with our fire. – What a poet – Why do I open the limousine door for you, my love ? – How’s my friend doing? Is everything okay? – Where are you going? – You’re going for a ride – Get in the limousine, my love. – Look, you’re closing the door on me, kid. Everything. – Thanks. – Today we’re going to San Cristóbal de las Casas, which is a magical town. – An hour here from Tuxtla, the capital of Chiapas. – It’s one of the most visited towns in the entire state. – Of course. – And although Chiapas is known for its heat, – it’s cold in San Cristóbal because we’re going up to about 2,000 meters above sea level. – We bought the tickets here, – we’re going in a Traffic, as you can see. – It cost us 130 pesos for the two of us. – An hour’s drive on the highway, more or less. – It’s a good thing we got the front row, – because if it goes around the curves, you know what happens to me. – There’s Lissana, the walkie-talkie if you want to call your Estonian family. – Okay, and we’ll set off in a bit. – All right, people. – And here we arrive in San Cristóbal de las Casas, – a magical little town like so many in Mexico. – We’re at more than 2,000 meters above sea level. – Here – the weather is beautiful, – it already feels very cool. – They say that when people who live here go to Chiapas —that is, when they go to the capital—they feel so hot that they want to come back here quickly —because they’ve gotten used to living in the cool air here. – And Chiapas is really a hot state —and here you have to come on a bus —because it feels cool. – It’s 23 degrees right now, and it gets really hot at night. – The nice thing about this town is that besides being nationally and internationally known —because people come from all over to visit it —many international tourists come here as well. – The nice thing is that it still preserves a lot of the Mayan culture, the indigenous culture, and it blends with current traditions. – So here you can still see a lot of living indigenous culture —in this region of Chiapas. – Look, there’s a well-renovated white church right there. – And this is where we came from —from the bus terminal where we were. – We have to walk seven blocks to get to the colonial center. – So let’s go and see what we find along the way. – I came to Chiapas and learned something I couldn’t believe. – I thought amber was something Baltic, – Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, because there you see it everywhere and it’s like something traditional. – Well, I came to Chiapas and I hear people talking – Oh look, this beautiful amber, I want to buy it. – I said, it can’t be amber. – And yes. Market for sweets and amber crafts. – There’s amber jewelry. – Even today we saw a guy at the bus terminal selling crafts made of amber. – And the lady, but is it real amber? – And he grabbed a lighter and lit the stone on fire to prove to her it was real amber. – It’s a matter of taste, look. – What a variety of sweets. – There it is, look. – It’s petrified tree wax. – Tree wax that’s been there for years. – But I can’t believe it’s here too. – How are you doing, friend? Is everything okay? – Everything okay? – Everything okay. – This is your job. Excuse me, right? – Yes, yes, go ahead. – Look, there are the stones for both of us – and the gentleman here was explaining to us. – What’s your name, sir? – Emilio. – Emilio. He was explaining to us that the amber here comes from the mines. – Yes, that’s right. – And this process takes thousands of years to solidify, right? – That’s right, thousands of years. – It’s full of little animals. – Of course, the bugs remain inside. – Of course. – And something like that is very rare to find. – You’ve already seen a smoothed amber stone where the bug solidified in Estonia too. – They’re the most expensive pieces, let’s say, because it’s rare, right? – I also have one like this one, which has a kind of ant on the tip. – An ant, I mean, how old is the ant? – How old is the ant in there, right? – I was surprised to find it in Mexico. – Did you see, my love? – Now we’re entering through the pedestrian street. It’s called Andador del Carmen, – a very well-known place here in the magical town – because you can walk freely and it’s full of cafes. – There’s a strong coffee scent because in Chiapas —many Mexicans will know, others from outside, not so much —but it’s from here, they say, that the best coffee in Mexico comes out. – I crave coffee on every corner, so we’ll have to go try some. – There’s also a lot of chocolate, cacao, and corn —because you know that in all the Mayan towns, the essence of their cuisine and their economy came from corn, so they still cultivate it here, and the truth is that… – You can tell because it’s a magical town, because it’s super picturesque, beautiful, colorful , and always well-maintained. – What surprises me in Mexico is that there are so many well-maintained towns, the vibrant, painted centers. – Well, things are getting a little more lively here —and I think we’re lucky because today is Sunday —and they’re dancing right there. So yeah, let’s go quickly. – Come on, let’s go. Let’s see. – Thanks. What’s that? – Keychain? What’s that for? – For your backpack. What would this be? This image. – Do you have a backpack, Commander Marcos? More like before. – How much does this cost? – 50 – 50 pesos. – Okay, I’ll take one. How much does this cost? – I’ll leave 100 like that for both of us. – Okay, okay, I’ll take both. – The lady sold me everything. – That’s fine. – Thank you very much. – Thank you. – I’m having a nice day. Thank you very much, Lisanna. – I wanted to buy this. Thank you. Because here it is. – Look at you, me, and the baby when we have a child. – How nice. – And this one has a backpack on the back. – Look like us traveling. – I think he said this one is Chamula. – Yes. We’re going to see dancing. – Let’s go. – But we just arrived today. – The whole town here together, sitting watching the celebration in front of the town hall. Look, people, right here , they’re already getting everything ready, hanging up the little flags with the colors of Mexico, decorating the entire plaza for the Shout, which will be on September 15th. Imagine coming here to Mexico and missing those festivities. You can’t pass that up. That’s why, to not miss any information, you always have to be connected on your phone with mobile data , and we recommend Saily. Saily is a virtual SIM card that you can download to your phone through the app. You can choose the plan that best suits your budget with the data you need , and you’ll be able to browse easily on your phone throughout Mexico, access the internet, send WhatsApp messages to Instagram, share photos of the party and the celebrations at fair prices, and you’ll also be able to browse securely, since it also has web protection and VPN. Exactly. – So if you want peace of mind and not to pay roaming charges when you return from vacation, download the E-SIM Saily with the code MYL we left on the screen. You’ll get 15% off your first purchase. – That’s right. – So take advantage – and let’s continue the trip because Lisanna installed it for you. – and so we don’t get lost anymore. – Always connected – where you took me – This is the Cathedral of San Cristóbal, – an important tourist stop here next to the plaza, – for those who like religious tourism. – It’s always interesting to come visit because every cathedral, – every church in Mexico has a unique and different architecture. – Look, this one for example, is made of wood and is all white. – There are others that have a lot of gold, – others that have the most varied architectures. – And there’s a bell, have you ever seen a bell? – Look. Do you know how much this weighs? Tons. – Could it have broken? – Maybe
– The church is beautiful, everything is very well preserved. – Look at that Puerto Mateo. – Like they did in the old days, you see? – Here begins 20 de noviembre Avenue, which is the historic center of the city. – You can see that there is an impressive crowd of people. – And maybe here’s a place where Lisanna can taste Chiapaneco Coffee. – Yes, because it says on the door. – Premium Coffee, – let’s try it. Then. – There’s also a wide variety of sweets here. – Here’s the coffee with the cool climate. – It’s delicious. – They’ve always had coffee like this, very good, mild – and almond milk. – It’s delicious, very delicious. – I’d say it’s the best coffee in Mexico. – I feel like every state we visit has its own coffee, almost. – So I’m not that expert to always say the best. – Now, something that’s really calling my attention is that, well, – this town is considered the cultural heart of the Highlands of Chiapas, – they call it that. – And you really see a very lively indigenous culture. – Many communities can be seen throughout the town working, – selling their crafts, as you saw, we bought the keychains. – And here the communities that, let’s say, inhabit this area – are the Tozotzil and the Teseltal. – I don’t know if I pronounced them correctly, my love, – but I tried my best – and they wear their traditional clothing. – And yesterday before coming here, I watched a documentary about Mayan culture – and many say that the Mayans, the Mayan civilization, no longer exist, – but the anthropologist explained that on the contrary, – they do exist, they are still alive and they are here – and they continue with their customs, their religions, – growing their food and one really sees all of that very much alive here. – And obviously we’re always going to see the mix of culture – that came with the colonizers, – mixed with traditions. – Mayans, indigenous, no – and very modern things like the capybara. – And very modern things like the capybara. – This year the capybara is in fashion. – All over the world, I think, because – it went viral. – Yes. – Although I don’t know if there are capybaras in Mexico. – Lisanna, I would like to try a pox. A pox poxeo, right? P or X. – Do you know what that is? – Tell me, my love. – No, I don’t know exactly what it is. I’m going to investigate, find out. – Now we’ll tell you by showing it. – Come on, let’s go. – When we came to Chiapas , we thought the most touristy place would be El Sumidero, – but the number of tourists who come to this city is really impressive. – And it’s a lot of local tourism. – We read that foreigners used to come here, – but maybe now because of the time of year you see more Mexicans – visiting the place here than people from other countries. – The line of cars here waiting to park is miles long. Look, – it’s Sunday and I think it’s a perfect day trip, right? – A perfect day trip. – You come to Tuxtla, take the bus, stay here all day, and at the end of the day you come back. – Although people told us to stay in San Cristóbal – and I understand why it’s very beautiful for walking around and all that – but we also went to Tuxtla because we thought it was cheaper, right? – And for me, I like seeing everyday life more. – than places that are too touristy. – But that’s a personal taste of mine. – I have more fun visiting a city where – I know you can see the daily lives of ordinary people – than going to a place that’s too touristy – and everything is set up for tourism, where you can see original and touristy things, but I don’t get to experience the daily lives of the people – which is what I like the most. – We got lost and a follower rescued us. Here it is. – Here’s the famous Pox – Pox – How’s my friend doing? Everything okay? Do you work here? Yes, of course. – I’m making a YouTube video – and we came especially to try the ancestral drink, – Isn’t that right? What do you say? – This is the place. – We read on the internet that there’s a, I don’t know, or a posh test here. – Well, here we give free posh testing to anyone who wants to come and try it, obviously. – It’s a drink endemic to here. – Endemic to the region. – Not from all of Chiapas. – No – specifically it’s like from Los Altos here in Chiapas. – I want to do the tasting. – Of course. – Let’s taste it. – It’s 45 degrees here. – This is the natural flavor. – The basic one, let’s say. – Basic, yes. Here because that’s how it started, right? – The flavors weren’t created yet and the versions were made over time. 45 degrees is strong. – Is this your brand, Poxna? – Well, it’s the brand here of the. – The brand you represent. – Well, look, this has, for example, you can even see the little oil it leaves behind. – That means it’s good quality. – Of course, because there are some that are like very watery. – Watery. – Yes, very watery. Other smells. – Strong. – It’s strong, – but a nice aromatic smell. – Of course. Before we start, – first let’s give it a light kiss. – You inhale and exhale to feel like the first – How about Lisanna? – It seems like tequila. – It seems like tequila. – Is it similar to you? – Yes, now I felt a different touch than the first sip. No, – I mean, I feel a difference, but it reminds me a lot of a drink made from agave. – An agave distillate. It reminds you a lot. It’s delicious. – Right now comes the añejo, – it’s more aged, let’s say. – This one, for example, has been aged for 8 years in oak barrels. – This one feels strong from the barrel. – Woody. – Of course. – It has a little sweet touch – and a touch of wood. – It’s the strongest I feel. – How much is a bottle of these? – Those are 600 – $35 a bottle. – How much is this one? – 250 pesos. – 250. A very high-quality drink. Very good, really. – Let’s try one more, Lisanna. – That one looks dark, like a wine. – It’s a posx that comes sort of fused. Fused with Jamaica, which is Hibiscus. – Oh, look. – This one has 18% alcohol. – Obviously the amount is much lower. – This one has the color of the Jamaican drink. – Yes. Maybe I like this one better. – Much smoother. – It’s a sweet juice, – just like Lisanna likes it. – But dangerous. – But dangerous. – These are the ones you don’t realize you’re drinking. You drink them. – You drink them and then you can’t get up from your chair. – That one. – That one is delicious. Very delicious. – So far I’m sticking with the añejo, – my favorite so far. – There’s another one missing, – but this one is made from chocolate, it’s the base, – it doesn’t contain milk and well, it’s chocolate here just like the region. – Chiapas. – Of course. Now comes your favorite, for sure. – This one is thicker, it has 18%. “How different “—it’s good, I’d say a very high-quality pure chocolate, a cocoa with alcohol, with alcohol. “This one, for example, with coffee or ice cream. Incredible. ” “So, final verdict, Lisanna?” – I’m between those two. – Maybe this chocolate with vanilla ice cream. – I have to say that if you’re telling me to have a relaxing drink, – like to relax a stone, I’ll go with this one, with the añejo. – And if I’m having a day where I want something sweeter, – more dessert, I’ll go with the chocolate. – Roger, it was truly a pleasure, a pleasure having met you. – Thank you. – We had an excellent tasting. – Where do people find them here? – Where can they come to have the best box in this city? – Well, here in San Cristóbal, where can I find them? – La Espirituosa, that’s what it’s called. – Well, Poxna is our brand, there it is. But the place where we are is – La Espiritua Espirituosa and here we have some of the. – Best posh there is here. – So come and check it out, it’s worth it and the service. – 10 points, 5 stars, – if I’m not mistaken. – Look, a peach. – Ah, look there, my love. – She has a smaller one. Where? Here. – Ah, tiny one. – Look, a little peach. – How delicious. – Oh, my love, she broke loose. – Could it be a peach? – It looks like it, but it’s raw. – Yes, it’s a peach. – Do you know what it’s like to have a peach plant in your house? – Priceless. – I’m honestly going crazy – because – Because I don’t know, you see, I can’t even find the words for how crazy I am. – What’s wrong with you, my love? What’s happening to you? – Tell me, Open up to me. – As we’ve been saying in several videos, each place is more beautiful than the next. – That’s why I’m going crazy, – because I don’t understand how it can be. – And how do people receive you? – Exactly. – You saw that guy opened the door of the bar for us, gave us a taste, explained everything to us – Good people and all the plants, food. – The variety of everything, everything. – That’s why I’m going crazy. – Here we found a street full of leather things. – It smells like leather, and it must be all the clothes people wear. – I don’t know if you’re paying attention, Lisanna. – That young lady is wearing a traditional skirt. – Yes, I’ve seen it. – It’s like it’s made of lambskin. And recently, something very curious happened. – The Adidas brand copied this sandal – from Oaxaca. – From Oaxaca, but it’s very similar to this one. – And they copied the model, and Adidas had to apologize – for copying that because it’s a model, let’s say, created by the indigenous people – from here in Mexico. – So they asked for care, my love. – They publicly apologized. – But look here how the communities also treat leather – and they make very pretty sandal designs with the name of Chiapas. – Look. And the little flag. – And this Mexico. – But here there are all the leather stores, shoes, hats – and there are many stores that sell leather. – And the smell of leather is delicious. – I like the smell of leather, – it reminds me of my town in Argentina, – because many people made leather things for horses too. – Did you know that Mateo went to an agricultural school? – He was a farmer. – Was there a woman carrying the load there, you see? – I’d say this is the town that maintains – more of the indigenous traditions of Mexico that we’ve already visited. – It’s impressive. Look at these streets. People, – I don’t want to scare you, but look what’s up there in the sky. – A terrible storm is coming. Well, let’s hurry then. – It’s starting to thunder, I think it’s going to rain. – And here we see more and more of the indigenous community of the place. – They’re even wearing the local clothing, which are these wool skirts. – We see the women here wearing them. – For us, it’s something very different, unique, really. – And with Lisanna, it really catches our attention because – it’s something we’ve never seen before, how they dress. – It’s quite different. – And here we are entering a busy market area, – lots of shops, lots of people moving around. – They told us there was a food market here, we’re looking for it. – It’s packed. – How many people are here? – I think the market is from here – because the indigenous communities – let’s say it’s more touristy here and the surrounding areas are the indigenous towns – who come to sell here, the city where all the tourists come. – But this part doesn’t seem touristy to me either. – Here we’re seeing local life. – Local. Local life. – There’s some corn, look how delicious. – They’re here, I wanted to try a dish. I don’t know if we’re going to find dishes here or more food – because the communities come to sell a lot of fruits and vegetables. – Do you see the peanuts? – Peanuts in the shell, see? – Look at all the movement of people. – Look, Lisanna, the peaches we just saw at the plant, look how delicious. – How big. – We already tried this in Thailand, with Lisanna. – The whole community comes here to sell everything they grow, – corn tortillas, corn on the cob. – Look at the grapes. – Look at what a different grape. – A little finger. And those tangerines look delicious, my God. – And prickly pear that comes out of the cactus, I love it. Have you tried prickly pear yet? – Yes. – I love it. – What a beautiful color the fruit has here. – A lot of movement in the market. – Look, the market is very busy here today. – They sell green beans there. – Lots of root vegetables, potatoes. – How beautiful, man. Look, Lisana, at that corn. Colorful, colorful. – Do you remember chicha morada? – Yes, – delicious. – It’s like that, that’s right. Chicha morada too. – I think chicha morada is completely purple. – Completely purple. – You know, Lisana, that indigenous communities are great farmers, – workers of the land, that’s why they are very good farmers. – Look at the potato, – Look at the potato, how pretty. – How do they call them? – 20 pesos a potato, a dollar a sack. – Very cheap. Is there permission? Excuse me. – We have garlic for sale here too. Wow. – They look like candy. – They look like colorful chocolates. – They’re beans. How incredible. – They’re purple beans. – I love how we ended up here. – Because it wasn’t the plan and I didn’t know. – It wasn’t the plan, but it’s what you know that Mateo – if there’s something he likes, it’s this. – Look here how they sell all the beans. – What a beautiful color. It’s a purple bean. – It’s a bean. – Bean. Bean from Chiapas. Bean from Chiapas, Mexico. – Look at the color it has. No, my God. – Who else on this channel loves radishes? – How great. – Look at these radishes. – Wow. I love eating radishes. – My mom always made us radish salad at home. – It’s so big. – It’s so big. – I’d buy everything at this market. – And I’m sure, Lisanna – that everything is made without pesticides. It’s all grown by families. – The radish is tiny. – It looks like an onion, – Lisanna. And can you imagine that all of this comes from sacred Mayan lands? – Can you believe something like that? – Delicious. – Well, let’s keep looking to see what else we find. – A lot of Chiapas culture – up here at altitude – is about eating delicious broths. – They’re going to tell me those who get cold. – Who wouldn’t like to eat a delicious chicken broth – with egg protein, – rice, a little rice. – Here we have some seasonings to add, – lemon, a little onion – and here are some corn tortillas that look very homemade. – Look at this. A complete meal for a cool day —which just got chilly after the rain. —Hee hee hee, —Okay . —Who are you and where are you from? —Try me. Lisanna, the chicken broth. What a delicious broth. —Broth gives strength, it heals. —If you have the flu, something’s wrong, you drink chicken broth. – and it’s strong, my girl. – How delicious. – Look at this broth, my people. – Enjoy it, make the most of it. I’ll show it to you here on the screen. – And some tototos. – Add rice then. – And look what we have here. – It was hidden, pepper and onion to add to the broth. – So, cuisine from Chiapas, Chiapaneca, – stops here from Mateo Lisanna’s YouTube for everyone. – Come to Chiapas and enjoy – everything. – Now I invite you as a last discount, today’s challenge, to climb San Cristóbalito. – There’s a church up there, but you have to climb everything. – And there’s something else that Lisanna will love, – which is the last forest left in the city, – the only one, it’s up there, behind that church. – Last forest, – because there’s a forest that used to be all over the city – and with urbanization it disappeared, but up there one remained. – Look, let’s go. – Do you want to go see it ? – Let’s go. – Okay, let’s go. – We made it, my love. We reached the top. – I didn’t reach it. Now we do have the view of the mountains. – I think from up here we have to finish the video, my love. – Yes, I have a lot of cacti. – What do you call a cactusarium ? – Yes, yes, a cactus zoo. If you have more than one country – One country? – Yes. Huacachina cactus. – Chiapas cactus. – Estonian cactus. – There’s a zoo there. – Estonian cactus. – So, well, – if you liked it, you’re probably tired like us. – So the video’s over, you can go. – Subscribe because I don’t have time to talk anymore. – I’m out of breath. – One like and bye bye.
