In the last episode, we went to Sakaiminato from Yonago Airport, and this episode is about to start the Oki Islands series We took a bus from outside Sakaiminato Station to Shichiriku Port The fare is 500 yen per adult The Oki Islands are located in the Sea of Japan and were designated as a UNESCO Global Geopark in 2013 The Oki Islands are made up of 180 large and small islands, four of which are inhabited, and our first stop is “Chiburijima” After 15 minutes, we arrived at Shichiriku Port As soon as I got off the bus, I was attracted to the Oki Kisen! It’s a big boat Then I walked back to the pier building First, we bought ferry tickets at the ticket office To take the Kuniga ferry, you need to fill in the “Passengers List” (they provide English version) The process of buying tickets was smooth let’s boarding we’re going to “Kurii Port” first, which is the port of “Chiburijima”, other ports will be in the coming episodes The Kuniga that we are about to ride is a ferry that can carry nearly 800 passengers as well as vehicles! From Shichiriku Port to Kurii Port, the fare for a 2nd class room is 3,510 yen (USD 24) per person It was “Obon” (an important traditional festival for worshiping ancestors in Japan), so there were many people on board It’s boarding time After putting down our luggage, we found a seat, and there were small pillows I walked onto the deck and met a group of students from the volleyball team We will return to Shimane in 4 days The students were still waving The ship also introduced the Kuniga (くにが號) The weather was nice that day also saw a lot of interesting islands Then I walked back to the cabin, near the boarding gate, it is a place to store large luggage There is a small shop in the opposite apart from selling snacks There are also dolls of Kuniga (くにが號) and postcards from the Oki Islands There is a kids’ space also a game room didn’t expect it has alcoholic beverages as well The second floor is first-class (separate room), special classes (3,000 to 5,000 yen more expensive than a second-class). After visiting the ferry, I went back to the 2nd class area After two hours, we arrived at Kurii Port (the port of Chiburijima) you need to return the ticket when getting off, so remember to keep it We had made a reservation for a sightseeing taxi before the trip met the tour guide, bye Kuniga (くにが號) It suddenly rained heavily… The itinerary we chose was to go to two attractions, and the charge for 90 minutes was 7,500 yen Chiburijima is the smallest of the four islands in the Oki Islands, located at the southernmost point and has a population of only 600 people This tranquil island is rich in natural resources and offers sweeping views of the sea from the top of the mountain The tour guide was introducing the oki cows on Chiburijima Our first stop is the highest mountain on Chiburijima, Mt. Akahage (赤ハゲ山) at an altitude of 324.5 meters Mt. Akahage (赤ハゲ山) The monument has a poem, it means “the eyes of the cow are overflowing with wild radish flowers” Fortunately, when we arrived, the heavy rain had stopped On the left is “Nishinoshima”, and on the right is “Mt. Takuhi” “Mt. Takuhi” is the highest peak on Nishinoshima Mt. Akahage is the only peak on Chiburijima and offers a 360-degree view we also saw cows Mt. Takuhi & Nakanoshima The display board also introduced the history of Dozen (including (i) Chiburijima, (ii) Nishinoshima & (iii) Nakanoshima) Discovered this small island Remember at the beginning of the video, I mentioned that the Oki Islands are a global geopark? Walking up to the observation deck, the view is even more expansive really never get tired of watching it After staying for almost half an hour, we set off for another attraction and we met the islanders of Chiburijima Hello The tour guide said that there are many herds of cattle grazing here on this Mt. Akahage (赤ハゲ山) We then continued on our way after a while, we met oki cows again As long as you stop the car slowly, oki cows will give way Chiburijima has only 600 people live, but has about 800 cattle (adults and calves) “moo”~ Are you welcoming us? We also met another islander: the tanuki There are about 2,000 tanuki on the island On the way, we met a pair of cows again The entire Chiburijima is a large ranch Islanders can be seen everywhere By the time we reached the second spot, the weather was better Sekiheki Red Cliff (知夫赤壁) we walked for 8 minutes from parking lot to the second attraction, Red Cliff kept walking up the slope and took a break first If you get closer, you will see Red Cliff, it’s nearly 200 meters high Very brightly colored rock veins The scenery is very beautiful! But please note that there is no fence ahead, so everyone must pay attention! The Red Cliff is a lava erupting through cracks in the earth’s crust, which then cools to form a steep rock wall, which is bright red due to the oxidation of the iron in the magma during the eruption I was so attracted by this beautiful scenery that I couldn’t help but say, “It’s so beautiful 好靚呀.” It was really stunning Everyone should take care and have a safe trip The formation of Red Cliff is also introduced on the board After enjoying it for nearly half an hour, we left Red Cliff we met oki cows again, the tail also hit the car As long as you stop slowly, the cows will slowly walk away Our first stop in the Oki Islands, “Chiburijima”, the scenery is already very beautiful and shocking! It also makes us reluctant to leave But at the same time, we were looking forward to the beautiful scenery of the other three islands This is an oyster farm it’s really a beautiful island We returned to the pier Get ready to set off for the next island Ticket office and shop inside the pier After communicating with the staff, we knew that the ferry connecting the islands do not need to fill out the “Passenger List” We also went outside to find the spot for boarding we thought it was the boarding spot and we had lunch here (onigiri purchased before departure in the morning) the connecting ferry is coming then we realized that the boarding spot was 100 meters away The “Isokaze” (いそかぜ號) is an inter-island ferry of Dozen (including (i) Chiburijima, (ii) Nishinoshima & (iii) Nakanoshima) Each trip is 300 yen, which is directly give to the crew before boarding Goodbye Chiburijima! and we continued with the second onigiri The next stop is “Ama”! I hope you like this video, please like, share & subscribe! See you in the next video
