🇩🇪 BREMEN Winter Walking Tour | Germany Travel Guide 2025
Let’s start! A rainy road trip to Bremen this morning Let’s see if Bremen’s charm can shine through the clouds And here we are! We will spend the weekend here in Bremen I hope the weather will get better later Let’s park first Parked and ready to explore! But first, let’s embrace the drizzle Bremen’s historic city center is small enough to explore on foot Welcome to Bremen’s Marktplatz, the heart of the city
and one of the most stunning historical squares in Germany. We will explore this later A cozy breakfast sounds perfect right now Let’s go to Schnoor district Hoping to find a cozy café to warm up because nothing pairs better with rain than a hot drink We’re entering Schnoor district now The name “Schnoor” means “string” in Low German because the houses are lined up like pearls on a string! Schnoor is the oldest district in Bremen, dating back to the 15th century Schnoor’s narrow alleys feel like stepping into a Brothers Grimm fairytale We’re looking for this café, Teestübchen We found it! but… fully booked! reservations only No worries, there are a lot of cafés here Let’s look around Found a cozy spot—Lagom! Swedish name, German charm, and warm, inviting vibes chose this table next to the window We ordered hot chocolate and flat white very tempting! I love the warm and cosy vibe here I ordered the toasted croissant with tomatoes and cheddar cheese. Yummy! Let’s explore more of Schnoor district A beautiful Gothic church that has stood here since the 14th century! Inside, it’s peaceful and beautifully simple making it a great spot to take a break from exploring “Book of Life” It was once home to fishermen and sailors and now it’s a reminder of the neighborhood’s deep connection
to Bremen’s maritime history Schnoor is also known for its artisan shops This is a 17th-century building once used for storing goods
from Bremen’s trading days Now it’s a theater Still Christmas here I think this is a residential area Time to leave this old district We’re here at Marktplatz again We will go back here later There are a lot of food stalls here We want to try African cuisine from Mataa’s Kitchen We went for the spicy vegan sampler—SO flavorful and affordable too Rain already stopped by this time One of my favorite spots is this Cathedral We will go back here later Meet Roland, standing tall since 1404 symbolizes Bremen’s independence and freedom Time to drop our bags, recharge, and get ready for more exploring Refreshed and ready for more Bremen magic Now let’s go to Marktplatz again The weather got better Built in 1537, once for merchants, now a Chamber of Commerce powerhouse! Two imposing towers, each 98 meters tall,
dominate the skyline and offer panoramic views of Bremen but the towers are closed during winter A mix of Romanesque and Gothic architecture This cathedral is also beautiful inside They call this Bleikeller or Lead Cellar where mummies from the 16th and 17th centuries are preserved Built in the early 15th century, this UNESCO World Heritage Site
is a masterpiece of Gothic and Renaissance architecture The carvings depict biblical and mythological figures, like Charlemagne and St. Peter symbolizing justice and faith Rathaus is closed on Saturdays and Sundays so we weren’t able to go inside At just 100 meters long, this little lane is packed with stunning architecture, rich history, and artistic flair Every day, these 30 Meissen porcelain bells chime and rotating wooden panels reveal famous explorers like Columbus and Marco Polo Next, let’s go to Weser Promenade This has been a hub of activity since the 13th century when it served as Bremen’s main harbor for merchants and trade Today, it’s transformed into a vibrant riverside destination St. Martini Church is one of Bremen’s oldest churches This striking ship with green sails is the Alexander von Humboldt Originally a training ship, it’s now a hotel and restaurant Let’s go back to the town center TIme for dinner Located in the Town Hall’s basement, this historic restaurant offers authentic German cuisine in a cozy, traditional setting It has an impressive wine collection I ordered fried fish with mussels and shrimps, veggies and mashed potatoes and of course, German beer Tasty! Bremen at night – pure magic! Ending the night with a few drinks at our hotel bar I ordered Sun-Chai Next day drizzling again One last look at Bremen’s Rathaus and Parliament Building Bremen blends old and new effortlessly Back here From top to bottom – rooster, cat, dog and donkey Why rub the donkey’s legs? It’s said to bring good luck! Back here at Böttcherstraße Came back for the Glockenspiel Glockenspiel plays only three times a day in winter – 12NN, 3 and 6PM One last look before we say goodbye Just as we leave… the rain stops and the sky clears Thank you for joining me on this peaceful journey through Bremen’s most beautiful spots If you enjoyed this video, please give it a like, and don’t forget to subscribe for more relaxing travel vlogs
