【JAPAN’S LOCAL KITCHENS】 第四十七旅「🍜沖縄の食堂!セレクション!🍛」(30分SP)【🇯🇵字幕👂】
Haisai! Let’s start today from the studio! – It’s been a while, hasn’t it? – It sure is. Do you remember, Kana? Previously, about Okinawa soba
we introduced several restaurants, starting too from the studio! – And today is the sequel! – So, that means…
after Okinawa soba, what’s next… taco rice? This time, the theme is local restaurants “shokudo”
that are essential to life in Okinawa, and this time we’ll be introducing Kana’s pick-up restaurant,
and in the second part, my pick-up restaurant! Let’s get started! Ready…
Let’s Goya! Everyone, please support the channel! Kana, what do you think of shokudo local-restaurants? They’re casual places used every day. When I was in high school, I used to go there often with friends to eat after school, and in Okinawa City there’s something called “A Lunch”,
which is a one-plate meal with a lot of toppings! Okinawan local restaurants, in French terms,
are like family-run bistros, or street-corner bistros where you can casually drop in
and enjoy a light croque monsieur or a sandwich, and maybe even a few drinks. So, which one of these wonderful Okinawan restaurants
did you choose to introduce? Of course, it’s the town of Koza where I was born and raised! – Oh! – Here we go! – Oh! Okay, I’ll be the first to start! So, I’ve come to Okinawa City, where I was born and raised! This time, I’d like to introduce a long-established restaurant
on Central Park Avenue. Here it is! Here it is! Mickey’s Local Eatery! Let’s geo in! – Nice to meet you! – Nice to meet you too! – Please! – It’s a restaurant I’ve always wanted to come to!
– Why didn’t you come sooner? It’s true! I’m from Okinawa City,
but I haven’t been able to come here before! – Tell us again what kind of restaurant it is!
– I’m the second generation owner, and… it’s just regular home cooking! So, if I’ve time,
you can tell me “I want to eat this or that today!” and I’ll make it! and if you’re a regular customer,
you can even order things that are not even on the menu! – Not on the menu!? – As we also cook dinner here,
we offer daily options like “We have sashimi today!” or so! – Well, anything goes!
– Ask first! But once you become a regular customer! – How long has it been around? – I wonder how long…
– It’s already a long-established restaurant! – A long time! I think it ‘s been around for close to 60 years… – Has it always been in this location?
– No! My mother used to run it where the Music Town is now, – so when Music Town opened, we moved here,
and it’s been 20 years now. – That’s right. – So for that long! As for our foreigners customers,
it’s now the grandchildren’s generation. They saw the photo that their grandfather had put up
and thought, “This is it! Here!”. So we scaled down the sign from before, and even the cracks
are the same! We recreated it and rebuilt it. – The chairs are the same, the height and length of the counter
is the same too. – Just like back then! – Exactly the same. – Now, grandchildren of the first customers
bring their children too! – That’s great! – It’s fun! Mickey’s Shokudo has been a beloved restaurant for many years, and I’m so happy to be here, so let’s get started… – Can I have something to eat? – Please! Here’s the menu. – Hmm, what is this? Saito Donburi! – It’s Saito Donburi!
– The Saito Donburi is fried chicken, seasoned with sweet and sour pork sauce,
and served on top of rice. It was invented by Mr. Saito, – and now I named it after him.
– I see, so Mr. Saito’s creation! – He hasn’t given us permission, though but… – Oh really! Wow!
– But he’s a regular customer, so it’s okay! – There are so many items on the menu that I can’t decide,
but I’d love to try the Saito Donburi, please! – Okay! – Please wait a moment! I’ll make it right away! – Thank you! – Okay, sorry to keep you waiting! This is the Saito bowl!
– Wow, it looks delicious! – Here you go. – That was quick! – This is a “shokudo”, after all!
– You were so efficient! – There’s loads of chicken on top! – That’s right!
But sorry, sometimes there are only three pieces… I measure it while I’m dozing, so sometimes it’s more, sometimes it’s less! But I generally keep the gram weight the same! – Sometimes you get a big hit, and sometimes
you may think “Huh!?”, so please bear with me! – I get it! – So how’s this seasoned? – This is sweet and sour pork sauce!
The chicken is deep-fried first, then seasoned with the sauce,
and then placed on top of the rice like this, but this also being a customer’s idea, in fact when we just
used rice, it was a bit “too heavy!”, so we added cabbage. So it’s rice, cabbage, and chicken on top, right? – Please try it! – Thank you! Let’s eat! – Enjoy! Wow, that looks delicious! Today might be a big hit!
There’s loads of chicken on top! Let’s eat! Delicious! – Maamaa, it’s delicious! – Thank you! The chicken is so juicy and tender! I wonder if it’s also seasoned with ketchup or oyster sauce?
It’s well seasoned, and it goes down well with rice! The taste is quite strong, so as the customer said,
the cabbage on top might be the key! Let’s have another bite! Yes! It’s an original seasoning, but somehow it tastes nostalgic,
like real home cooking, and it has a comforting flavor. If I become a regular, she might make my own original menu,
so I’ll come back often and become a regular soon! – Wow, it looked really delicious. Like, your expression showed
how delicious it was. – It was just amazing. This is filled with so much of Mickey Maamaa’s love, – That’s great. It looked delicious! Are you full? – Yes! But there were other menu items,
and I tried some unusual ones! – Wow! – There’s more to come! – “Wow!” is all I can say. There’s another menu item that caught my eye.
Um, among the a la carte dishes, there’s this herb sausage. – Isn’t that rare in a shokudo? – It is! I tried it and it was delicious. So those who want to eat it
can just order it! That’s why I keep it there. So, along with the herb sausage,
there’s another dish that caught my eye… “high heels”! – I’m not sure what this is, so can I order it? – Sure! I’ll go ahead and make it now. Please wait a moment! High heels!? Do you all know what they are?
I wonder what they’re like? ? – Okay, sorry to keep you waiting. Here you go! – Thank you! Here’s the herb sausage. And here are the high heels! This, Maama, is… a hand! Right? – Chicken feet! – Feet! There are only two, so…
But, you know, they used to eat this in the past too in Okinawa. – Really? – The way to eat was to make it into a soup.
You have soups with potatoes, radishes, pork ribs, right? Instead of those, there were just these two feet! But only the head of the household could eat them. Because there are only two per bird,
so only grandparents or so could eat them. So they were precious, or rather, rare. – And then now, you pour one of the sauces over them!
– Just the feet! They were probably walking like this… But the best part is that only the collagen remains,
so it’s good for dry skin or sore knees. It’s a new world, but I trust you Maamaa… I’ll try it. Well, I think I’ll start with a slightly larger one! It looks meaty. Here we go. It’s feet, really! The meat just falls apart in your mouth, and it’s jiggly!
It’s similar to pork! – It’s cartilage, and it’s kind of crunchy!
– It’s crunchy and it’s full of moisture too! – As we can see on your skin, so smooth!
– Oh, I just started to use a new foundation. – Isn’t it this? Not thanks to the high heels? – Oh! I should have said thanks to the high heels! But I just changed my foundation. – Delicious! – Was it good? I often eat this while drinking a bit.
– It definitely goes well with alcohol, right? – The herbal aroma is nice, and it’s quite strong, so it really
goes well with alcohol, right? – It goes well with alcohol, yes! I might end up eating a lot of this! – The saltiness is also great! – Great!
– And the texture is very chewy and delicious! I feel like I’ve reached a higher stage in life… – As my first attempt to this…
but I was surprised at how delicious it was! – I’m glad! High heels are great for your beauty,
and Mickey Shokudo has a lot to offer, – so please come and see Mickey’s Maamaa! – Thank you! – Sending you power! – Sending you power! – Wow, you did a great job, High Heels! – Look at my skin! – Isn’t it smooth? – Hydrated! Smooth! Your skin looks like silk.
– I’m so happy! – But it wasn’t that I tried so hard, i fact I really liked the taste.
– Oh, right! – That’s right! I ate it all. That dish! Shokudo restaurants really feel like social spaces,
and you can communicate with the staff like this! I thought it was so much fun to have a chat. It really is like a bistro! Bistros are a little more
focused on alcohol, but it feels like a cafe bistro! This warmth, like in France…
as within Japan, Okinawans have a warm feeling, so maybe there’s something similar
to southern France where I’m from. I thought it was really interesting, this commonality
with shokudo like these, and cafe bistros in France! So, Vincent, which shokudo will you introduce next? Oh my, that’s right… I have to introduce a shokudo too… but I don’t know much about shokudo…
so I don’t really know where to go… – What should I do? – It’s okay. – Cos’ we received a video message from a very special person.
– Huh? Who? ? Hi hi, here’s Yonabaru Town’s Beyoncé. Hiii! Dee! So once again, this is Izumi,
the tourism ambassador for Yonabaru Town! Oh, my gosh, Vincent!
What? You don’t know any shokudo? Oh, come on! There’s a great place in Yonabaru. In Miijima Ward, written with “new”, “island” and “ward”!
There’s a place called “Miijima Community Store”! Go and check it out! There, handsome guys will introduce it! So Vincent, you’ll have a blast! Nice food, nice guys, it should be great!!! Enjoy ! Now, onto the second part of Okinawa’s shokudo!
Following on from Kana-san, I’ve come to Yonabaru, Izumi-san recommended a restaurant here,
in Yonabaru Town, so I came. It’s Mijima Community Store! There are various menus written there,
and the wood is really lovely. This way. Let’s go in! – Hello. – Welcome! – Nice to meet you! – Ok, it’s a proper food store! Great, great! – So stylish!
– As it’s called Kyodo Baiten I was not sure it’s a shokudo. – I’m Yamanoha, manager of Miijima Kyodo Baiten.
– Nice to meet you. – Izumi-san recommended it to me! – Thank you! At first, as it’s called Kyodo Baiten, I thought it maybe
was not a restaurant, but it actually is! But then, why is it called Kyodo Baiten? There used to be a Kyodo Baiten here, so we wanted to create a place where everyone could gather, with a nostalgic feel, through this restaurant, and so we named it Kyodo Baiten. I see. It’s really wonderful!
The wood and timber give it a calming atmosphere, – and speaking of Yonabaru, the Rope Festival, after all.
– Wow! Interesting! – There are photos, and the rope is real too! – The rope is real, too! – Real?!
– Yes, we’ve rewoven it in miniature. – Amazing! – It’s called a communal store,
but does it have a communal store space inside? – Yes! There is a corner where we sell sashimi and snacks. Wow, that’s wonderful! It has a Showa-era feel to it, – but since it’s about shokudo, I’d love to try some
of the flavors I’m curious about. – Definitely! During the day, we serve Okinawa soba and set meals,
and then, we also operate as an izakaya in the evening! So you do operate as an izakaya too!
Well, since this is about shokudo, I’d like to have a set meal, – so let’s sit down for a bit, look at the menu and choose.
– Definitely! Now, I’d like to see the menu… Rich soba, light soba, set meals…
There are so many to choose from! Chicken nanban set meal! Oh! – I love chicken nanban and it matches the recommendations!
So I’ll go with that. – Sure! Kana’s place looked delicious, but I can’t be lose!
Not that I’m competing, though. – Well, thank you. – Thank you. Wow, what a stylish restaurant! Thank you, Izumi-san! For pointing out such a great place! It’s so stylish, and the wood and so is all handmade, after the original community store there was gone the young people of Yonabaru worked hard to renovate the old house and create this wonderful new restaurant, which also has a community store space, and serves
as a shokudo during the day and an izakaya at night! I think it’s helping to revitalize the area, and is so stylish, isn’t it? It’s stylish, and I always imagined shokudo as somewhere
where you either use a ticket or ask the staff, but… – Touchscreen? – That’s right! – Very high-tech for a shokudo! So finally! I love chicken nanban, so I ordered chicken nanban… – Amazing! I had chicken, but you chose chicken too!
– That’s right, we’re competing with chickens! – You’re all about competition! – With the “same” chicken,
but well, it’s not a question of which chicken is better! Let’s take a look! – Sorry to keep you waiting! – Here it is. Amazing!
– It’s the chicken nanban set meal! – It’s got mozuku seaweed and a fried egg on top…
– It looks delicious! – Is that tartar sauce on top of this chicken nanban?
Wow, it has a really homemade feel to it! – Yes, that’s right. This is our homemade tartar sauce made with pearl eggs
from Yaese Town, which we also sell at our shop. The mozuku seaweed is handmade from Chinen area. – This is miso soup is made with the Okinawa soba broth
we serve at lunchtime! – It’s definitely delicious! – Let’s eat! – Here you go! Wow, this pearl egg tartar sauce looks delicious. Let’s eat. It’s crispy, and the tartar sauce is very rich! – It’s tartar, but not too tartar!
– What do you mean by tartar but not too tartar? – The natural sweetness of the egg really comes through
and it’s absolutely delicious! – Oh, I see, it’s not heavy! I almost want to eat the tartar sauce alone with a spoon. And the chicken is also lean and not oily, but very juicy! Let’s take another bite! – I think this is the most delicious chicken nanban
I’ve ever eaten! – It’s number one! Not just in Okinawa, but all over the country! Let’s eat! I love eggs so much, and this is so eggy
I think it’s okay to call it the king of eggs! It’s the ultimate egg! This chicken nanban is just, well, I can only express it in the tone of my voice, it’s so delicious! Now all that’s left is for you all to actually try it… Delightful…! Kana, please come and try it too! It’s super delicious!
I’m sure you’ll want to eat it just by watching from the studio! I’ll be waiting. Let’s come again! – Looked delicious! – Yes! It was delicious!
I was sure you would think it looks delicious! It was really an egg like… those pearl eggs, as for “jewels”,
they’re eggs from Yaese Town, called “pearl eggs”, – Wow! – They’re so rich, but also sweet,
how should I put it, it’s just the egg… it’s like the king of eggs, I said the king of eggs, – Well, Izumi-san, you’re right to pick it! – No doubt about it! – At first I thought you chose it just based on the waiter’s face…
– For being handsome! Like she kept saying “handsome, handsome” over and over so… So, I thought your part would end with the set meal,
but then you tried some other menu items, so I thought I shouldn’t be outdone,
and I tried a bit of the evening izakaya menu too! There’s more to come! You chose two items from the izakaya menu
as your recommendation… – This is made with pearl eggs! – The pearl eggs that
we mentioned earlier! – Pearl eggs egg pouch! – This is liver cutlet made with pineapple pork liver!
– What an interesting menu item! – Pork liver! It smells great, and has a slight sweetness!
Let’s eat! I can’t wait! Did you hear that? It said “gushyu!” It was like “gyugyugyu!” – This is bound to be a popular dish, right? – It is!
– I thought so! – I hope people know about it! – It’s already popular, and I’m sure there will be even more
people who absolutely want to try it now! – Definitely! – What is this pineapple pork? Is it raised on pineapple? – Yes. It’s pork with sweetness and less odor. – No odor! – It’s good. – No odor! – This would go well with a little alcohol.
– Yes, definitely! With alcohol! – I thought so! Great! I thought liver would be strong, but it was totally fine,
and in fact, it’s super delicious! Actually, there’s one more thing that you may not really like… – What kind of bad choice is that! It’s interesting!
– What, what, what is it? ? – Goat. – Goat… goat… – Okay, what kind of goat dishes do you have?
– At our restaurant here, we have goat sashimi, goat soup,
and chiirichi (goat blood stir-fry). You said “you may not like it,” and now that I’ve heard it,
it really doesn’t seem like I would… Especially the chiirichi and the goat sashimi, but…
Okay, maybe I can handle the soup? – Yes, definitely! – I’ll give it a try… I think… – Sorry to have kept you waiting!
– Oh no, I was not waiting. Not at all. – I’m not waiting for goat soup.
– Why!! I’ve never seen a reporter like that! Goat… I love goats…
My dream is to have a goat someday… – It’ll be hard to eat if you think so!
– But it was turned into soup… The goat has turned into soup! – Is this ginger? – It’s ginger. Ginger and fuuchiba (mugwort). So, be honest!! You’re trying to mask the goat’s smell
with the bitterness of the ginger and fuuchiba, right?! – Why? I’ve never seen a reporter like this!
– No, to enhance the flavor! – I see. Well, first I’ll try the goat soup without adding anything…
for the second time in my life…
The first time wasn’t convincing, so let’s see the second time… but, it’s a specialty dish here, so…
It’s a specialty dish of the Mijima Cooperative Store so… – Let’s start with something a little small!!
– Wait, wait! What is this? ? – By the way, do you like goat, Kana? Can you eat it?
– I’m not found of it either. – You’re probably laughing in the studio, watching me suffer!
– But it’s way tootiny, isn’t it!? – Let’s eat. Ah, interesting. Oh, oh… I see… It feels like this goat has eaten a lot of grass. – It tastes like grass. – Does it taste like grass?
– It’s surprisingly different from what I imagined!
I thought it would be more… wild, – but this is quite mild, isn’t it? – Yes, I guess it is! – You… guess? – Yes. – You mean… you guess… Hold on a minute, Takeya-san,
do you not eat goat yourself? – You’re right, I don’t eat that much either… – What??? Really?
– Even though you recommended it to me so enthusiastically? Well, Even I thought it was easy to eat and delicious! Ah, that’s good, then, one more bite…
I started with a small one, so I’ll go for the big one next… Let’s eat! Ah, it’s soft! The bigger part is softer! The bigger part has even less of an odor. I don’t really dislike lamb, or Jingisukan, or anything like that, so if you think of it as a slightly lively wild lamb
that’s been released into the wild, then yeah, it’s totally fine! It’s still mild, but with a strong, natural flavor, I guess? It still has that natural flavor, so even people who like the strong flavor of goat soup will probably be totally satisfied! Now, with this, ginger and fuuchiba! Oh, this is good. This is so good! It’s almost like the medicinal cuisine I’ve had in Okinawa, so it feels Okinawan, and at the same time healthy. And with this, because the flavors of these two are so strong,
you can’t really taste the goat anymore! It’s totally easy to eat though! Surprisingly, I thought I’d give up afterone bite,
but it’s totally fine, it’s fine, it’s fine! I could totally eat this, I wouldn’t say I’d eat it every day, but well, I guess I could eat it regularly,
maybe once every two months or so… Give it a try, Kana-san, next time! – It was awesome! – Thank you! – As expected from Izumi-san’s recommendation! – Thank you. By the way, I know Izumi is quite a face-chaser,
but like, what is your relationship? Well, I’m… her weekends’ boyfriend. – What! Every time I see Izumi-san, she proposes to me,
so she’s such a love-struck woman! – Yes! That’s right! I have to be careful! Scaryyyyyy! – Takeya-san, thank you so much for today! – Thank you. – As expected from Izumi, that was a great recommandation!
– Thank you! – I hope you continue to be sucessful!
– Yes, I’ll do my best. Thank you! – Ah, I laughed so much! – The goat! First of all, Vincent, your report was amazing!
So honest! I could feel your reluctance to eat… When you ate goat, how tiny that bite was! ?
What was that? Like a chip?? But it was interesting! Maybe for someone who likes
wild things… my mistake! For those who like goat meat… It’s very, very delicious, however, as it is mild,
even those who don’t like it can eat it like me, and it still has that wild taste, that grassy taste… – Wait!! I’m doing my best to recommend it now!
– Imagining the goat eating grass? – Because… – That’s what it felt like!
– That it eats a lot of grass… – That kind of goat! – You can really feel that it eats a lot of grass!
– The meat has a natural, muddy taste of grass… – That was hilarious! You’re such an honest reporter, so great!
– To the goats! While watching, you kept saying,
“I’ve never seen a food review like this! I’ve never seen
a reporter like this!”, but it was fun! Anyway, it’s a really nice shokudo, first of all it’s stylish, and the menu is extensive…
And then there’s that egg, that chicken. The place was so cute, and this good old-fashioned communal store with the young energy of the people there were in perfect harmony! It was an amazing place where young people, and of course older people, are working hard to keep it going, and it was so profound. It wasn’t just shokudo-restaurants, I really felt like
I got to see another side of Okinawa in these two places! – What about you, Kana?
– It was filled with the warmth of Okinawa, and when you go to the shokudo,
you kind of feel like, “I’m back home!” – “I’m back!” – I see. – There’s also a warmth of welcome, and there are still plenty of places like that in Okinawa,
so I’d like to go to all kinds of shokudo places. That’s great!
Everyone, please come and try an Okinawan shokudo! I don’t really need to say this to people from Okinawa,
as everyone has definitely already been there, but for those of you who aren’t in Okinawa, please try an Okinawan shokudo, it’s a culture that you can’t find anywhere else! So, everyone…
See You Shisa! Today again, we learned a lot about Okinawa’s charms! Even though I am an Uchinanchu (Okinawan native),
I made various discoveries too! So everyone, please subscribe to the channel!
Yutashiku Unige Sabira (Please)! (in Okinawan) Hope you’ll watch again!

Vincent devant la soupe de chèvre m'a trop fait rire 😂😂😂. En vrai ça avait l'air bon, j'ai eu faim durant toute la vidéo 🥲🥲🥲. Vivement Midi 🤤🤤🤤.
Merci pour la vidéo, See You Shiisa !!!!!!!!
The lovely "Shoku-repo" made me chuckle😁 It sounds like there's no difference between your real intention and what you said!
