[Music] The true beauty of a culture lives within its own lands. From the elegance of the kimono to the art of calligraphy to ancient temples to the flavors of its food and festivals to the energy of its cities to the joy of traditional games and the serenity of nature. So, let’s dive into this amazing journey to discover Japan. Travel east from India and you’ll step into a land already living 3 hours and 30 minutes in the future. In Tokyo’s heart, Shabuya Crossing surges with thousands moving at once. Japan spans 377,973 km. A land of mountains and islands. Each spring, Nara’s parks blush pink with nearly 2,000 cherry blossom trees. And nearby, over 1,200 seca deer roam freely. Beyond its beauty, Japan holds a 99% literacy rate, among the world’s highest. [Music] Japanese traditional culture is shaped by two spiritual pillars, Buddhism and Shinto. Buddhism arrived from the Asian continent over a thousand years ago, bringing temples, meditation, and the quiet beauty of Zen gardens. Then there’s Shinto, Japan’s native belief system, where sacred spirits or kami dwell in nature. From towering Tory gates to seasonal shrine festivals, Shinto celebrates the living world around us. Together, these two traditions blend seamlessly, forming the spiritual heart of Japan. Then there’s the tea ceremony where every movement reflects harmony, respect, and presence. Then as the year ends, silence gives way to sound with temple bells struck 108 times to cleanse the soul and welcome the new. What? Tokyo, Japan’s vibrant capital where ancient tradition meets a skyline alive with light. By night, it becomes a neon wonderland glowing from Shabuya to Shinjuku with lights so bright they’re visible from space. And with over 37 million people in its metropolitan area as of 2024, Tokyo stands as the most populous city on Earth. Shin Kansi. They call it the bullet train, but to me it’s the white queen of the rails. Sleek, commanding, and impossibly graceful. Watch as she glides through the countryside, raining over the tracks at a regal 320 km hour, turning distance into a fleeting thought. Then there’s the Twilight Express Mizu Kaz, Japan’s five-star hotel on rails. Carrying just 34 guests in absolute luxury, it glides from Kyoto to Shimanoski with sweeping windows and gourmet dining. It’s not just a train, it’s a moving masterpiece. Japan may be the world’s neon light hub, but it’s also the kingdom of vending machines. With over 3.9 million across the country, it holds one of the highest machineto-people ratios on Earth. And Tokyo alone packs in more vending machines than any other city in Japan, making it a true world record contender. Then night rolls in and the streets turn into a sea of umbrellas. Each one catching the glow of neon on rain slick pavement. Tokyo moves like it’s got somewhere to be. Waves of people, the hum of traffic, the buzz of signs. And up in Shinjjuku, a giant 3D cat wans out from its billboard, watching it all unfold. [Music] Not bad. Not bad. Now you in this segment we step into the timeless elegance of Japan’s traditional dress, the kimono. Its name means thing to wear. Yet each one is a work of art with patterns that echo the seasons and centuries of tradition. From the vibrant furode to the refined tummas and tied with a wide silk obi, the kimono turns clothing into living culture. Oh, that was so cute. Yeah, that was cute. The chubby guy. In this segment, a canopy of lanterns drapes the sky. Each one painted with flowers, animals, and whispered stories in color. Not far away, in the hush of a small workshop, hands fold washi paper and bend bamboo, coaxing light into shape. By morning, those same lanterns sway at a shrine dressed in vivid silks and fresh blooms. Its gates alive with prayers and the soft chime of bells. In this segment, Tanabata flickers by. Bamboo swaying under paper wishes drifting toward the stars. Then the night blooms. Gold bursts over the river, followed by crimson, sapphire, and silver. Each firework met with gasps and laughter. For a few brilliant moments, the sky is alive with light and sound, then fades like a wish set free. If we’re discovering Japan for the first time, how could we possibly overlook its flavors and traditions at the table? Smoky skewers turning over charcoal, golden batter crackling in hot oil, and the warm, savory air that wraps around you like a welcome. Then comes sushi. Cool, glistening slices of the sea draped over vinegared rice so tender it almost melts before it touches your tongue. Next, the bento box. A tiny world under one lid with glossy rice, savory meats, and bright pickles in perfect harmony. Then steaming ramen. Springy noodles in slow simmered broth crowned with chashu, egg, and nori wrapping you in pure comfort. Doen Bori Canal. So this this is Dotenburi, Osaka’s loudest, brightest, most delicious street. And after soaking all this in, here’s where I crashed for the night. Capsule Hotel in Osaka. Even rest is engineered. A capsule compact, hushed, just big enough for dreams. Dinosaur receptionist Henna Hotel. But in this city, even checkin is an adventure where a dinosaur in a bow tie welcomes you to your stay. Or maybe you prefer a human touch. Almost. A perfectly poised humanoid greets you in flawless Japanese or English, ready to make your arrival effortless. Last, but not least, meet Lord Mount Fuji, our final destination, a symbol of Japan’s beauty, tradition, and timeless spirit, standing watch over the land we’ve explored together. Thank you for joining me on this journey through neon streets, robot hotels, and serene peaks. If you enjoyed this adventure, please like, subscribe, and share your thoughts in the comments.
