中古の軽バンで日本一周、ついに念願の石川県までやってきました…!!
Hey guys, it’s Yuuka! I just arrived in Ishikawa! Today I’m gonna do a Japan road trip in Ishikawa with Papa Clipper! Last time I did the Okinawa edition, and the likes hit 9,834, so… I brought exactly $65 for this trip too. It’s actually my first time driving all the way to Hokuriku, so I’m super excited today! Alright, let’s roll without slacking until I pull out the keys. This should be like the 13th prefecture in my Japan trip! So I’ve covered about one-fourth already! It’s been over a year since I started this journey, so at this pace, it’ll probably take me like 4 years to finish. *So please enjoy this series patiently until I get there!* Thanks so much for all the likes on the Okinawa edition last time! Because of that, I’ve got a bit more budget today, so I’m planning to eat a ton of yummy stuff! And of course, Ishikawa is super famous for seafood, so I really wanna eat that, and just chow down on a bunch of goodies and go a little wild (?). The Sea of Japan is kinda rough and the current’s strong, so the fish there get really firm and tasty! At least that’s what I’ve heard. So yeah, I’m really looking forward to it! It’s right about lunchtime now, so I’m heading to a spot where I can fuel up. Right now I’m driving along a road called Jonan Street, and it looks like Kanazawa Castle Park is just up ahead. I wanna see a lot of Kanazawa, but it seems pretty big! Not sure if I can make it from end to end. *By the way, Ishikawa is ranked 3rd for Japan’s longest north-to-south prefectures.* 3rd place is kinda impressive, right? At first I thought I’d need to rent a car or drive everywhere just to cover it all, but actually, the sightseeing spots are packed pretty close together. It’s way more convenient than I expected! Places like Kenrokuen Garden and where I’m headed now— they’re all right next to each other! So it’s really easy to get around, and I’m thankful for that. I was just on the phone with my mom, and I told her I was in Ishikawa, and she said my dad actually went to university here too! So does that mean Papa Clipper’s from Kanazawa too? *FYI, Papa Clipper ≠ my actual dad, okay!* Since my dad graduated like 20–30 years before we met, this is probably Papa Clipper’s first time here! Apparently Ishikawa is one of the rainiest prefectures in Japan. They even say, “Forget your lunch but don’t forget your umbrella.” So Ishikawa × me, the rain-girl… of course it was fated to rain today, right? Ishikawa has some of the highest rainfall in the whole country, so maybe it’s not actually my fault this time? *Am I trying to blame today’s rain on Ishikawa?* Since I’ve been traveling all over Japan, I’ve actually gotten a bit used to driving lately. When I first got Papa Clipper, I used to hunch over the wheel like this while driving. But now I can drive more relaxed, so I think I’ve improved a lot. But you know, they say it’s most dangerous when you get too comfy, so I’ll keep reminding myself—safety first, always! In about 5 minutes, I’ll reach my first destination. Can’t wait! Where is it…? The place I wanted to visit. Ah, found it! There it is! It’s Omicho Market! I’m here to eat some super fresh fish! Inside looks like this—there are spots to eat and stalls selling fish. It kinda reminds me of the Yaizu Fish Center I visited during the Shizuoka edition of my trip. Well, I guess most markets have this vibe. So fun! I seriously love markets like this. *Omicho Market has around 170 shops—super famous in Kanazawa!* It’s even called the “kitchen of Kanazawa.” They sell fruit, fish of course, and even clothes like this too. There’s so much variety, it’s fun to walk around. Oh, look look! Funny T-shirts! It says “Meat is my friend.” If I bought this, would everyone get mad at me…? Maybe I wouldn’t get any likes anymore…? *Likes are precious, so I’ll try to spend them wisely.* So yeah, I’ll hold back this time. The nice thing about this market is the roof overhead— since it’s raining today, I can explore without an umbrella. So easy! Ooh, meat sushi street food! Look, look! Seared meat sushi! Apparently it’s exclusive to Omicho Market. Okay, let’s give this a try! The chef sears the Noto beef right in front of you, so even waiting is fun! He seasons each piece so carefully—seriously, applause, gratitude, emotions everywhere! And then, to finish, he sprinkles gold flakes… I wanted them to sprinkle me too! Got my Noto beef seared sushi! It even has gold flakes on top, but maybe that’s why it’s crazy expensive— $7 for just two pieces! Gotta savor every bite. Alright, let’s dig in! Wow, this looks sooo good. What the heck?! It’s so soft, melty, and delicious! Oh no, my $7 disappeared so fast… Too good… *Two pieces gone in seconds—RIP last bite.* I ordered a raw oyster! It looks amazing… This oyster cost $5. They also had blackthroat seaperch, and I wanted to try it, but each one was like $7, kinda pricey, so I just went with the oyster to stay on budget. Look! It’s all jiggly! This has gotta be delicious, right? UMAI! (So good!) *It’s so good I’m literally dancing without realizing it.* Oops… someone saw me… That was amazing, thank you! Seriously, it was insanely good. Ahhh, I’m so happy right now. That oyster was so good I should rename myself “Yu-yster.” Or maybe “Suzuoyster Yuuka.” Sounds like someone who’s super itchy though, huh? Ahhh, seriously delicious. UMAI UMAI UMAI! This oyster’s insane. Wait, hold up—they’ve got sea urchin! It looks sooo good. But it’s $6 each, pretty pricey… I’m definitely overspending my budget, huh… What should I do…? Okay, I gave in to temptation, sorry! This’ll really be the last one, I promise! Wow, sea urchin! It’s my first time touching the outside of a sea urchin! Alright, let’s eat! Looks incredible… *Me, looking way too happy eating sea urchin.* It’s delicious, but it disappears in an instant too. UMAI! That was amazing, thank you! And just like that—it’s gone. I’m back in the car now. I’m not totally full, but it was insanely delicious! But if I’d stayed at the market longer, I probably would’ve blown through my whole budget. So I’m glad I managed to escape! Omicho Market was seriously amazing. The best thing I had was— definitely the raw oyster! I absolutely love oysters. Buying it at the counter and eating it right there was such a fresh and fun experience. Wait, isn’t the Daikoku drugstore chain usually in western Japan? I just spotted one here! So does that mean Ishikawa counts as western Japan? I always thought Ishikawa was more like central Japan… kinda right in the middle, right? I mean, I was in Okinawa recently, and I even went to Hokkaido (not part of this series, though). I’ve really been moving around a ton! When I entered the market it was raining, but when I came out it had stopped— and now it’s raining again! The weather changes so much here… Anyway, the next spot I’m going to is actually even prettier when it rains, so it kind of works out! I’ve really been looking forward to this place too. I can’t see Kanazawa Castle itself right now, but I’m driving along Horidori Street by the moat. *This path runs along Kanazawa Castle’s stone walls and moat, with gorgeous scenery year-round.* *…Even though it’s raining ‘cause of me.* They were selling a lot of alcohol at Omicho Market too, like draft beer for $3.50—I really wanted one! But during this Japan trip series, I can’t drink. There were even signs saying “Day drinking available!” Seriously, so tempting. But nope—no matter what, I’m not drinking! *If I give in, it’s game over right away.* Now I’ve arrived at Higashi Chaya District! This place has been around since the late Edo period, and it’s famous for its beautiful historic streets. Time to do a little exploring! *This street is lined with lattice-doored townhouses, preserving old tea house culture—one of Kanazawa’s top spots.* The streets look like this. So many retro buildings—it’s such a vibe! Feels like a set from a samurai drama. It’s got this kinda mysterious atmosphere. Like I’ll meet a cat, get led by it, and end up in another country—totally sounds like a movie plot. *Movie title: “The Cat of Chaya District and My Sober Life”* You can catch a bus here from Kanazawa Station, and it only takes like 10 minutes. So the access is really good. I drove today so it doesn’t matter for me, but even if you came by train, it’s easy to get here. Apparently right after lunch is the golden time when there aren’t many tourists. And yeah, it’s actually not that crowded right now. Feels like I time-traveled back to the Edo period. Edo~ Edo Edo~♪ I, um… would love to eat a gold-leaf ice cream, de arinsu~ Oh, found one! Gold-leaf ice cream! Isn’t this crazy? It’s completely covered in gold leaf! Does gold leaf even taste like anything? Whoa, wait—it’s pricey… About $6.50! Hakuichi’s stuff is expensive… but I still wanna try it! Since I’m here, might as well… *Hakuichi is a Kanazawa staple where you can enjoy gold culture—everything from ice cream to crafts.* Got my gold-leaf ice cream! Wow, I thought it was just photo editing, but the real thing is seriously gold and shiny! This one cost me $7— but will it actually taste good? Let’s give it a try! Yum! Well, $7 is kinda overpriced… Definitely the priciest ice cream of my life. But the flavor itself is rich and tasty. The gold leaf doesn’t really have a taste though. This shop is called Hakuichi, and this was $7 with tax—at Hakuichi, of course. But honestly, the gold leaf part is pretty small, so it might be gone in one bite—“Paku-ichi!” *Lowkey ordered it just so I could make that pun.* Oh no, aren’t my lips totally gold now? I’m so bad at eating this… Oh no, the gold leaf stuck to my mouth! Eh, oh well, it’s kinda funny. Makes me look fancy though, right? That was yummy! Alright, time to stroll around a bit more. Looks like this shop sells Kutani ware. I was looking it up yesterday, and I found there’s even a Kutani pottery-making class. I thought it’d be fun to try making it myself, but turns out today’s their day off. So I’ll just check out the ones they’re selling. Wow! I wish I could’ve painted Papa Clipper on one too. So cute! Kutani ware started in the early Edo period in Kaga—
it’s a colorful porcelain known for its vivid “Kutani gosai” and gold decorations. Leaving Higashi Chaya District now, and heading to Kahokugata Metasequoia Avenue. Metasequoia is a type of cedar tree, and there are over 500 of them lined up here— a perfect road trip route! But wow, the name’s a tongue twister— Kahokugata Metasequoia… it’s suuuper hard to say! *I literally had to retry like 20 times lol* But apparently it’s gorgeous, so I’m excited! This area is just calm country roads—really beautiful. The greenery is so lively! Probably about 5 more minutes till I get there. It’s already the perfect drive route though! It’s been raining on and off since this morning, but right now it’s finally stopped. So this is my chance! Please don’t rain again… *Praying at max speed* My hometown is also pretty rural and green, but this area definitely has even more greenery. Kinda losing that competition… Nature here is amazing! Those plants on the left—are they lotus? They look a bit like the huge lotus I saw in Akita. Almost there! I think I’ll see it soon! Isn’t that it? The Metasequoia trees? Metasequoia Avenue! Wow… It’s even more stunning than I imagined—lined up perfectly! Kahokugata Metasequoia Avenue has about 500 trees in the reclaimed Kahokugata area,
changing scenery with each season. Super popular for drives and photos! This is so cool! Feels like I wandered into a forest. It’s supposed to be a popular spot, but since it’s a weekday, it’s not crowded at all. Lucky me! Made it out the other side! That was so much fun! That Metasequoia Avenue was seriously amazing! Getting to see beautiful views from the car is the best. I love drive routes like this! Papa Clipper’s probably happy too, seeing all these views. And I can sightsee without even getting out—so it’s win-win! Ishikawa actually has another really cool drive course. I’m heading there now. Right now I’m driving along the coastal bypass, and the clouds are super thick, like almost black. Not sure if the weather will hold… Will I get to see the sunset? *When you’re a pro rain-girl like me, even clear skies attract storm clouds.* Almost there! The place I’m going now is called Chirihama Nagisa Driveway. It’s pretty famous—maybe you’ve heard of it? It’s the only road in Japan where you can actually drive on the beach! Heading right down to the ocean! Hang in there, Papa Clipper! The sea is sooo beautiful. I bet car camping here would be super fun too. This is wild… Isn’t it crazy that you can drive literally right along the edge of the sea? Kinda worried my tires might get stuck. But wow! This is so cool! The ocean’s like 2 meters away. Such a weird feeling. Feels kinda like I’m doing something I shouldn’t… Like someone’s about to tell me, “Get out of here!” Oooh this is fun! Doesn’t this feel like one of those Mario Kart desert courses? *This one!* *The sand here is so fine and mixed with seawater that it packs solid—
that’s why cars can drive on it.* That’s the secret! So it’s not just normal sand, that’s why it works. There’s this site called Ishikawa Road Info, and it tells you whether you can drive here that day or if it’s closed to traffic. I checked it beforehand before coming here. Thankfully today was an open day! So if you want to come here, definitely check that first. ‘Cause some days it’s totally closed to cars. This time of day should’ve had a beautiful sunset… That’s why I came around now, but… looks like I won’t get to see it today. Ishikawa’s rainy weather × me, the rain-girl… what a terrifying combo! *Encountered a mysterious flock of birds* So cute—what kind of birds are these? Wow! They’re moving totally in sync! Adorable. Go on, little guys—conquer the Sea of Japan! (who even am I right now) This stretch feels long… how many kilometers is it? *Chirihama Nagisa Driveway is about 8 km long!* *Some parts are so bumpy, even the rice cooker in the back almost fell out.* Hang in there, Papa Clipper… you okay back there? And… that’s the end! That was maybe 2 or 3 kilometers? Super fun! Yep, I really love drive courses like this. So cool! If you know any other fun drive routes in other prefectures, please tell me—I’ll definitely go! Anyway, as you’ve probably guessed, I’m starting to get hungry… so I’m heading back toward Kanazawa Station to find something tasty to eat. After about an hour of driving, I’m back near Kanazawa Station. Sorry, people of Ishikawa—I totally brought the heavy rain… Right now I’m heading to a certain parking lot. If you’re local, maybe you already know where I’m going? Mawaru Sushi—Morimori Sushi, Kanazawa Station branch! I’ve made it to Morimori Sushi! From check-in to actually sitting down, I waited two whole hours! There were like 60 groups in line. Apparently I was the very last person they accepted today. It’s 9:25 PM now, and I just barely got in with 5 minutes left before last order. That was way too close! Here’s what the menu looks like— but I’d already studied the recommended dishes beforehand, so I quickly ordered everything I wanted. *The lineup here makes me jealous of Ishikawa locals.* I’m so glad I finally got to eat at Morimori Sushi. But after waiting 2 hours… if it’s not insanely delicious, it won’t feel worth it. Here comes my salmon and yellowtail! How’s it gonna taste…? Alright, let’s dig in! Was that two-hour wait really worth it…? Is it actually *that* good? I’m pretty strict when it comes to food, so I’ll judge harshly. What is this…? It’s insanely good. Can you see this? The topping is way bigger than the rice. That’s why it’s called “Morimori Sushi”—the toppings are piled high! So good. Okay, next up—yellowtail! It looks so plump and juicy. Mmm, delicious… This is crazy… Too good… I’m so happy right now. *If only I could have a beer too, it’d be a perfect 120 points…* The “Station Front 3-Piece Set.” Looks way too good. I’ve gotta eat fast—this place closes at 10 PM, so I only have about 30 minutes left. But thanks to my limited budget today, at least I won’t end up overstuffing myself. *Without a budget cap, I’d probably crush 100 plates easy.* So tasty… Mmm, mmm, sooo good! Morimori Sushi is insane… Apparently this chain actually has a few branches in Tokyo too. But eating it here in Ishikawa is special—everything’s local, and they have items you can only get at this store. So it feels totally different from eating it in Tokyo. What’s this one? First time trying it—shrimp maybe? Yeah, looks like shrimp. It’s green so I wasn’t sure at first. *It’s actually Botan shrimp from the Station Front 3-Piece Set.* *So good my chopsticks won’t stop—going full throttle now.* Eating Morimori Sushi has made me feel mori-mori (super energized) too! Eel! I love eel so much. I’m so happy I get to eat this. *It melts in your mouth the second you take a bite.* [When you’re eating something truly amazing] → you go silent. Why is this so ridiculously good… Eel… When you think of Ishikawa, you think of crab, right? Of course I ordered some crab too. So ridiculously good… *If I could eat this every day, I’d totally move to Kanazawa.* I also ordered buri (yellowtail) soup. It’s packed with fish and looks amazing. Look at that—it’s huge, right? Looks so good… Ahh, warms me right up. Since Ishikawa’s up in Hokuriku, at night it gets a bit chilly even in September. So having a hot soup like this really warms you up from the inside. *Buri soup’s hot and healing—made that 2-hour wait worth it.* Delicious. And now… my reaction as a hardcore salad-gunkan fan is… Unconsciously busting out a “Morimori Dance” ‘cause it’s so good. That was amazing. Everything was insanely tasty. My last stop is JR Kanazawa Station. That big red gate you see behind me is called the Tsuzumi Gate—it’s basically the station’s symbol, and it’s shaped like a traditional Japanese drum. So pretty, right? Wow, Ishikawa was honestly such a blast. I went to Omicho Market for lunch and had super fresh seafood, then headed to Higashi Chaya District and ate gold-leaf ice cream, while enjoying the retro streets. I also got to drive some amazing routes, and wrapped it up with sushi—such a fulfilling trip. *Honestly felt like 80% of this video was me eating.* It really turned into a foodie’s dream trip. Oh yeah—at Higashi Chaya I bought some Kutani ware. Isn’t it cute? I picked a design that matched Papa Clipper’s cute vibe. Next time I cook rice in Papa Clipper, I’ll use it as my rice bowl. And lastly, just as a small gesture, I donated the same amount as today’s budget to support the Noto Peninsula’s recovery. I had such a great time in Ishikawa, I definitely want to come back. You guys should totally visit too. It was such a fun trip—I really recommend it. Thanks so much for watching all the way to the end today. If you liked this video, please subscribe, leave a comment, and give it a thumbs up! Alright, bye-bye!
