Hello! This is Tarako. Today is the 8th day of our Tohoku development trip. This time we will be visiting Zao Onsen in Yamagata Prefecture. We will be walking around the ropeway, public baths, restaurants, etc. *The places we visited are listed on the Tarako MAP (link from the video summary section) The greatest appeal of Zao Onsen is its strong spring quality, with its cloudy white and sulfur hot spring water. there are three public baths with cloudy and sulfur hot springs, all of which are of the highest quality. Tonight, we’re staying at a cheap hot spring hotel that has been renovated into a modern inn. We’re taking a bus from Yamagata Station to Zao Onsen. Yesterday, we toured Naruko Onsen and stayed at a cheap hot spring inn with lukewarm water. The autumn leaves at Naruko Gorge were also spectacular. 🍁
If you don’t mind Please watch the video as well 🙇 ◆Request◆
When using English subtitles, we recommend changing the font settings on YouTube to make them larger. Head to Zao Central Ropeway. ◆Memo◆
If you ask a Japanese person for something after saying “Sumimasen”, they will be relatively responsive. A short walk from the bus terminal will take you to a hot spring town and tourist spots. The kids who did bad things were threatened that they would be thrown out of here… If someone told me they were going to throw me out of here, I’d be upset. You’re wrong. a prayer for the safety of villagers and travelers that was built about 200 years ago? It’s a really nice monument. We’re heading to the Zao Central Ropeway. We’ve arrived. Adults: 1,800 yen round trip
(1,000 yen one way). The season is early November…
Expectations for the autumn leaves are high. Let’s wait in a place where we can get a front row seat. We will continue to upload more videos
of trips like this in the future. Personally recommended izakaya, cheap and budget hot spring inns, sightseeing information, etc… We will continue to bring everyone on a journey through these fascinating lands. If you are interested
please subscribe to the channel.
If you like, please give us a like 👍 I became the first passenger ♡ the gondola that came down from the top of the mountain. I’m going to get that seat!
Please follow me! GET! It’s a perfect day for autumn leaves with clear skies ☆ The leaves may be turning a little later than usual, but it’s still beautiful enough 🍁 Wow, it’s a beautiful picture. The terminal station can be seen in the distance. There’s a very strong wind blowing. At a glance, you can tell that this is a ski resort in winter. Let’s get on the gondola that will take us back down the mountain immediately! As I thought, it’s incredibly crowded 💧 No, that place will be taken… The next candidate is here! I want to come skiing next time. Skiing used to be very popular among young people. People of my generation will know
the movie “Take Me Out to Ski” and Yuumin’s song ♪ Heading to the hotel for the night. No, there’s a shrine up ahead. I lost out because I went up these ten or so steps 💧 This way. We’ve finally arrived💨.
It was quite far from the ropeway ~ The front desk is staffed by foreigners. but it seems to be managed by a system and an iPad. At hotels and inns, we are always asked to write down our name and address, but here the personal information at the time of reservation is reflected. Just sign! He speaks Japanese fluently!
I think there are more foreigners like this. This hotel is an old inn that has been renovated and specializes in overnight stays. There is a large hot spring bath and an open-air bath, so my night stay was around 7,000 yen. The key is a PIN-code type. Fairly spacious twin room It’s a bit up from the hot spring town, but I think it’s a good and cheap hotel. I don’t know much about traveling. We would be happy to receive your travel stories in the comments! Let’s explore the hotel and go to the hot springs. It’s a large lobby.
It looks like it’ll be okay even if it gets quite crowded Ah, there’s a billiard table. Also, a long time ago… billiards was also popular🎱 The movie “The Hustler” was popular, and I was working part-time at a billiards bar in Harajuku. A system where you can choose your yukata There are all sorts of obi. Is it a pillow? They seem to rent out a lot of things. There’s also a laundry, so it’s perfect for solo travelers. Let’s finally go to the hot springs. This is the women’s bath. ◆Memo◆
If you go at a time when check-in is possible, you can usually use the bath in a private state. and this is the men’s large public bath. Isn’t it better to take an open-air bath? Oooh It’s so great ☆ It’s strongly acidic, so it’s very stimulating and the cloudy sulfur spring soaks into my bones. The official name of the spring quality is acidic, sulfur-containing, aluminum-sulfate, chloride spring. Even sulfur springs can be simple springs, but here the acidic smell is incredible. The fatigue of traveling is healed~♨️ Now let’s go to the public bath. Zao Onsen is said to have been discovered in 110 AD, and has a history of over 1900 years. There are dozens of ryokan and hotels next to the Zao Onsen ski resort. It is a major resort that represents Yamagata Prefecture. The location of the public baths and large open-air baths. ◆Memo◆
You only need a face towel to take a bath.
When you get out, wring out the towel and wipe yourself dry, and it will dry off in no time. I’m coming in! it’s a small place, but it’s a great atmosphere. It was actually quite crowded. Next time, I’ll come when it looks like it’s more empty. The temperature of the hot spring is a little hot. The time to bathe in both the upper and lower baths is… From 6:00AM… If you come at 6am in the morning, you might have it all to yourself ☝️ Oh, of course I paid 200 yen 💦 There is another public bath I wasn’t able to visit the Kawara-yu public bath, the source seems to be different for the upper and lower baths. According to the materials, the quality of the spring water is strongly acidic alum containing hydrogen sulfide. The large open-air bath, which I couldn’t go to because I didn’t have a car, is closed in the winter.
n 2024, it will be open until November 24. Opening hours are 9:30-
800 yen for adults. 400 yen for children It seems crowded, but I’d like to go there at least once 😃 Oh no, I’m hungry.
Let ‘s go to the restaurant we have reserved . Are you getting ready? ? Good thing it was open. and I was seated right in the middle, so I was a bit nervous. The Yamagata Genghis Khan, the original classic way to eat Genghis Khan… rice, miso soup, pickled vegetables, udon… there are also a la carte dishes, but for drinks, bottled beer is the way to go ✨ There are many types of soft drinks as well. Well, I ordered Genghis Khan from the beginning 🥩 Now comes the sword ⚔️ Bottled beer 660 yen Why is beer so delicious? There are various theories about the birthplace of Genghis Khan, but one story is that it originated in Yamagata, became a specialty dish of Zao Onsen, and spread all over the country. After the war Due to the spread of synthetic fibers, wool prices plummeted and farmers who owned sheep had to be rescued. Genghis Khan was inspired by Mongolia’s dish of grilling mutton in an iron helmet. I had always thought that Genghis Khan originated in Hokkaido. I’m kind of impressed when I think of eating it on the ground. This is a heartwarming miso soup with red soup stock ~ Genghis Khan 2,420 yen Oh, I’ve been waiting for it 🥩 This iron pot It was a Mongolian soldier’s iron helmet… It was a hearty dish. The mutton🥩 came from ~ Into My mouth👄☆ I see💨 Of course the meat is delicious, but the sauce is especially delicious. This sauce really goes well with the rice. It’s also great for vegetables. It’s a bit more elegant than the Genghis Khan I had in Hokkaido
(in my opinion). It’s a sight that bugs my brain ✨ Oh no, it’s so delicious! I’m a much more instinctive person than when I eat fish. when I eat yakiniku, this is how I eat it as the meal progresses… The brown color of the meat stands out against the white of the rice~ There’s not much meat left. Additional lamb meat 825 yen Don’t talk to me. We got the key to the reserved private bath and am moving. Cold⛄️ It’s as far away as Naruko was 💦 Oh, we’re arrived. the name of the private bath was “Hotei-son.” I opened it casually, but the atmosphere was better than I imagined ✨ It has all the three features of cloudiness, strong acidity, and sulfur smell. And on the right side, there is a night view of the hot spring town. The temperature is probably 44-45 degrees. It’s hot when we first put it in, but it gets just right. amazing precipitate We can see the night view of the hot spring resort. It ‘s seriously the best☆ I’m impressed right now✨ The temperature of the hot water has reached an appropriate temperature. ◆Memo◆
For etiquette reasons, it’s best not to put a face towel in the bathtub.
That’s why I put it on my head. 100% natural hot spring water Hot spring water that gushes out within 5 minutes. And no water or heating. After all, it’s this night view 🌙 It ranks quite high among the hot springs I’ve been to so far. How about something like this? There are three other private baths available at Zenshichi-no-Yu. Daikokuten Kotobuki roujin Ebisu Ten which costs a whopping 1,000 yen (50 minutes)! !
It’s super cheap 💰 Apparently there’s a service that delivers a vat of cold sake to your private bath (700 yen), and there’s even a private bath for dogs! Wow, I was really excited 💦 It was a wonderful private bath. It was worth climbing all the way up the mountain. I highly recommend everyone to come by car. After this, I walked for 25 minutes to the hotel But thanks to the hot spring, I think I’ll sleep well tonight 🌙 Thank you for watching this far❤️ Good morning ☀️ I’m going to sleep soundly and have a good morning. Let’s head to the bus terminal. Now we’ll take the bus back to Yamagata Station. From Yamagata Station, we’ll take the train to Yonezawa Station. We’ll get off there and have some Yonezawa beef hotpot. How is it different from the Maesawa beef we had in Hiraizumi? I’m sure I won’t be able to tell the difference. Next time, we’ll take a trip to Tsuchiyu Onsen. If you’d like, please check it out! How was our trip to Zao Onsen? I took a private bath with the best night view and was very satisfied. Thank you for staying with me until the end. If you like, please subscribe to the channel and give a good rating︎👍 Please also leave a comment 😀 Thank you for watching!
