Guardate come ci hanno TRATTATO in TOSCANA il giorno dopo – GIRO D’ITALIA IN MOTO – ep5-s4
Drone landed, the day is over. I think you can tell by our faces that we’re pretty shocked. I’m shocked, but so are the three of them. Let’s get on with the introductions. What’s your name? Marco. Age? Yeah, way too old. 61. Big, also nicknamed Google Mark because he obviously works with Google. Too good. You met the second member in the last video, he’s a Florentine Doc. Balzerotto, what does balzerotto mean? Balzerotto is, I don’t know, a nickname they give to those of us who are Tuscan. But is it positive or negative? For me it’s positive, for some it’s negative. The important thing is that for you it’s positive. Then we’ll finish the trio. I’m Andrea, 42 years old plus VAT and I haven’t been drinking here since. No, really, it’s a beautiful day. I turned 50 and he gave me a nice gift. The two of them gave me a nice gift, and everyone else gave us a gift because I think it was impossible to find better company. We had a really great time. They showed us places we never would have been able to discover. Not even the teacher would have been able to do things like that, even remotely, but Gabri, who we won’t show you, was with us. It was his first day on a motorbike with his dad, and we’re proud of it. We’re proud to have inaugurated it, and we wish everyone a good trip, especially him. Dad a little less so, because Gabriele loves Harleys, while his dad is a staunch BMW enthusiast. We’re ready to go. Meeting point: Agriturismo Il Passeggere here in Bruscoli, a stone’s throw from Firenzuola. This morning, Marco led the way. We’re second, second for now, then we’ll slowly go and do the sweeper. Andrea, his son Gabriele, and Fabio, bringing up the rear, like yesterday, in the same position. Looking at the road to the agriturismo, you’ll understand we slept cool. We’re almost 900 m above sea level. Good morning everyone from the Tuscan-Milan Apennines. It’s an August morning, the sky is completely blank. Average visibility, our female version of Bernacca. I’m missing the wand, the one they used to have when they used to do the weather forecast in the ’80s. No, I assure you it’s built in because it always shakes me. When necessary. Saddle up as always, and if you enjoy this content, leave a like, leave a comment. That said, today our guide will be Marco, known to his Google friends as Mark. [Music] Crossing Bruscoli means crossing Andrea’s wife’s hometown, so we say goodbye. On a Saturday morning, these areas should be less traveled than the roads on the passes we took yesterday. But be careful, and above all, a small reminder: maybe we should slow down on these extremely quiet roads, beautiful if only for the people who live there. We’re in Emilia Romagna, heading towards Castiglion dei Pepoli. [Music] From Castiglione dei Pepoli, the Suviana and Brasimone Lakes Regional Park begins, a series of 30 km of trails, a perfect reserve for deer and other mountain animals. Our next destination will be the two artificial lakes. In the meantime, I’ll update you that in Roncacce we’re 770 m above sea level, and it’s 24°C, so let’s hope our Google Mark doesn’t make us lower. [Music] The dam wall. We’re on Lake Brasimone. [Music] How beautiful! Work on this lake began in 1910. It was completed the following year, and the reason for its construction was due to the growing demand for domestic energy throughout the province of Bologna. It seems that in the 1970s, an Italian-French project had been considered for the construction of a nuclear reactor, but with the Chernobyl disaster in 1985 and the referendum that followed in Italy in 1987, which rejected nuclear power plants, all the studies carried out up to now by ENEA, whose sign we saw, were repurposed for other energy activities. Look at the view there. The big peak behind it is the concrete and now we can’t go down there at the bottom. Eh, the last mountains you see there between where we are going now and where you were yesterday in our area as far as traffic density here is concerned. There’s one more. Here today you can’t find it like that. We reach the peaks we see here in the background. First of all, the Betone 1388 m, a very important pass from a historical point of view. [Music] I instead want to share a profound thought: nowadays, as you know very well, we are used to traveling alone, so the organization of the trip, and consequently, any problem we might have along the way, we have to solve on our own for obvious reasons. This road is spectacular in the meantime. [Music] While today we travel calmly, in the sense that you ride the motorbike with a super clear mind and go to visit the villages or the most characteristic situations and at the same time perhaps travel the best roads by motorbike. So I close the circle by saying that if you have the right friends, every now and then it’s nice to alternate the two things, traveling alone and traveling in company. [Music] And Lake Suviana below us. Extremely blue waters. [Music] We stopped at Lake Suviana, which has now become a tourist attraction. There are people swimming. It’s a Saturday morning, so it’s also normal. It’s the largest lake in the province of Bologna and one of the largest in Emilia-Romagna. Construction work on the dam began in 1928 for the purpose of powering the express railway, the Bologna-Florence line. Just a year ago, on April 9, 2024, a tragedy occurred. Unfortunately, workers engaged in maintenance work lost their lives at this point. And as far as I can see, we’re perfectly on the border, meaning we’re in Emilia, on the other side of the Toscana river. [Music] We met a few motorcyclists, but considering it’s a Saturday morning, 12:13 pm, there’s practically no one. [Music] As soon as we crossed the border again, we’re back in Tuscany. [Music] The threshold of San Marcello Piteo has been arched, where there should be a work that has entered the Guinness Book of Records. Just past the Opium Pass, perhaps named for its beauty and perhaps the dizzying feeling. 33°C right now. Francesco’s hope is to gain altitude, and honestly, mine is too. So we got close to the Siesta, heading towards Avetone for a regenerating break, a gorging bar, because these guys are a bunch of pigs, they don’t say it, but they are. Well, we’re in a group of good friends, I’d say, and besides, you know, we crossed central Italy during our gorging break, no joke. Times have to be calculated with millimeter precision, and that’s what we’re doing, putting on hold for the moment that Guinness World Record we promised you, we’ll do it after the break. But you can hear Sara’s changed tone of voice, that intrinsic happiness. Anyway, for you today, chickpea soup and that’s it. Great. A little bread to death. Without oil. Yes, in Tuscany without oil. Very interesting. Check out the route to Avetone. 16 km or so separate us from the top of Avetone. We dust off this car in front of us. [Music] Now let’s push Marco a bit, because if he wanted to, he’d disappear in a fraction of a second, but he’s a good soul, so he doesn’t want to humiliate me in front of the camera. What a spectacle this road is, anyway. My goodness! [Music] These curves are beautiful. [Music] Guys, but this playground really, my goodness, really [Music] third. Great big sister. [Music] [Applause]
What a smell of wood! Alpine-style buildings, or rather, Apennine-style buildings. [Music] These are extremely renowned locations for the ski season, but then in the summer, motorcyclists come to have fun and people who like to go for walks and enjoy the coolness of the altitude. We are in Betone, 1388 m above sea level, still 28°. This seems to have been an extremely important communication route because it connected Rome to the banks of the Danube. The road was later built to connect the Grand Duchy of Tuscany to the Duchy of Modena , and it seems that at the summit there was a spire so large that six people couldn’t hug it. It’s said that the area gets its name from this spire. A short detour to Piandi Novello. Our friend Andrea told us there’s a spectacular beech forest. Who knows if this beech forest was already there when Hannibal apparently passed through these parts, and I think it was even denser back then than we see it today. The road we mentioned earlier between the Grand Duchy of Tuscany and the Duchy of Modena was first built, believe it or not, in 1781. We’re finally keeping our word and taking you to the Guinness Book of Records we told you about. [Music] 100 years in 2023 celebrated by the Ponte delle Ferriere, built in 1923 to facilitate the passage of workers coming from Popiglio to reach the metallurgical plant in this area. [Music] The bridge is built over the Lima stream in San Marcello Petiglia and connects the two sides: Mammiano Basso on one side and Popiglio on the other. If they hadn’t built this bridge, the workers would have had to walk 6 km every day to cross the Lima stream. At 227 meters long and 36 meters high, it entered the Guinness Book of Records in 1990 as the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in the world, surpassed in 1996 by a bridge built in Japan. [Music] Let’s pretend we’re in Peru. He’s afraid of heights. Are you scared? What, he’s afraid of heights? You’ve already been there once. Not desperately. Oh, but it moves, eh? Eh, a little, yes. Come on, come on, let’s stop, guys. Go. And anyway, I wasn’t aware, super ignorant, thanks to Marco. Don’t look at Gabri, look ahead. At the top of the Mammiano hill and on the other side Popiglio. Look at this wonder on the top of the mountain. I think this is really a gem. Those terraces we saw from the road were actually a quarry. This area, Marco explained to us, was teeming with workers, restaurants, and all the related industries that the work brings with it. Then the quarry closed and everything went a bit to pieces. The little village, however, which we’re going to show you shortly, began its history with the presence of a castle, as happened in many areas of our region, in our hinterland. The castle is no longer there, but the medieval village remains and is called Lucchio. We can all shout it out loud together, but where are we taking you? Or rather, where are they taking us? We’ll never stop thanking them. Look from below. My goodness, are they building those houses? And the road to get there too. What a sight! Here we are. Lucchio, a hamlet of Bagni di Lucca. [Music] A small note for anyone who wants to come perhaps in a camper or van. The entire route up is practically one lane, but considering the traffic it’s doable, come on. Here it’s hard to get through with a van. But look at this sight. I mean, guys, man sometimes does things that border on madness. What a nativity scene! And we were down there, [Music] even inside the little village. [Music] They must have cursed here back then, building on the rocks in winter. I said, there are 15 of them all here. What year are we talking about at the ruins of the Rocca? About 1000. I have the 100. I bought that one, smaller. I bought it from Morini. And it’s certainly heavy. It’s heavy. I’m 72, right, it’s not like it’s 20 years old. How much are you selling it for? €3,500. At 30 years old. Oh, it’s in good shape. Perfect. Registered with the ASI. Single owner, right? Cheera, before, was the more of a worker, he bought it new and after a very short drone we went down to the valley, it’s 6:55 PM because we were sitting in the square with an elderly man who was selling his GS 1100, so let’s do something we’ve never done before, a free favor because out of empathy he really seemed like a wonderful person. I’ll leave you my phone number in the video description. If you need information or are curious to see it in person, contact him because he is reluctantly selling his beloved motorcycle. Just as he offered it to us with the genuineness that distinguishes people who live even in the simplest of places and with the utmost trust he has shown us, we ask you to be honest when contacting him and avoid wasting his time. He doesn’t deserve it, no one deserves it. Besides, we invite you to be honest. This light and this flag are the most fitting end to a It was a memorable day. Thank you all, thank you to Andrea, Gabriele, Fabio, and Marco for dedicating their invaluable time to us and for allowing us to discover hidden gems, treasure troves that will remain unforgettable for us, their native land. Bagni di Lucca, a town also historically renowned for its fame as a spa. The typical colors of the Tuscany region. The Chain Bridge over the Lima River was built from 1844 to 1860. The date of construction makes it one of the oldest iron bridges in continental Europe still in existence today. The one in Budapest was begun in the same years, and the one in Kiev in 1848. Commissioned by Charles Louis of Bourbon, it was a truly impressive work for its time, based on the use of industrial iron techniques through suspension with chains and a complex underground mechanism that held the chains in place. The work had to reflect the aesthetic criteria of the classicism of the time, which included two triumphal arches at the ends where the chains themselves were held under tension. We also started from the chain bridge. Look at the time, it’s 7:53, still 30°C. We’re doing the last 4 km where we’ll say goodbye to our friends. With the image of what is nicknamed the Devil’s Bridge in Borgo a Mozzano, we say goodbye and recommend you get ready for tomorrow. We’re leaving early also to see the bridge again. Bye guys. Go for go along by for love go all for love we going for love for hearts the ch love go all for love we going for love going for love for love Get it right. But don’t get me wrong. Say what say what you got say. Say what you got say. Go like a satellite. Just go like a star. Say what you got say. Say what you got say. Take it to the take it all. Go for hope and glory. Go go baby for go for love we going for love hearts the ch love go all for love we going for love going for love for love take the take H and glory. [Music]
