관광객이 잘 모르는 오키나와 남부의 진짜 매력🍜🌊
Hello By chance, I’m back in Okinawa after six months Tokyo has been so hot this year that Okinawa feels cooler I’m greeted by the same “Mensore” (Welcome) at the same place Right by the exit, there’s a potama I thought I’d grab breakfast while waiting for the shuttle bus The line was longer than I expected, maybe everyone had the same idea It’s nothing fancy, but the combination is really tasty After breakfast, I head out from the hotel There was some time before check-in So I rented an electric bicycle to explore the nearby area They even provide ice water and maps—very thoughtful I haven’t ridden a bike in ages I grew up in the countryside, so it brings back childhood memories I arrived at Ryukyu Glass Village The ceiling decorations at the entrance immediately catch your eye After WWII, discarded bottles from U.S. military bases were repurposed This craft developed into what is now the Ryukyu Glass Village The colorful designs and irregular but warm bubbles are its signature It’s one of the traditional crafts that best represents Okinawan sensibilities Next to it is an open glass studio You can watch the glass-making process up close During the tour, they let you handle pieces and explain the process It starts green when hot but turns blue as it cools It’s amazing to see how tradition is preserved Watching molten glass gradually turn into a piece of art is fascinating The kiln temperature is 1300°C It’s hot just standing there, so what they do is truly impressive They even showed the entire process—thank you so much They also offer various hands-on experiences By the way, there’s no entrance fee to the Glass Village It’s not very large but the colors are beautiful, with galleries and shops It’s worth stopping by at least once Next, I planned to have lunch right next to the Glass Village At Dome Gohan Cafe The chair designs are unique From afar, they look like upside-down chairs The interior is very cute Even the bench chairs are distinctive Besides meals, the cafe also sells desserts My order has arrived I think it was a hamburger set It looks homemade, no matter who sees it Yuzu is a local specialty, and it’s even in the salad Because it’s sliced thinly, the bitterness is mild and it paired well with the tangy sauce The fish dish was also very tasty I wasn’t sure what it was at first, but it turned out to be jimami (peanut) tofu Softer and chewier than regular tofu, with a roasted flavor I usually don’t eat tofu, but this was so good I want to eat it again Mozuku is another representative seaweed of Okinawa Today, I tried all these dishes I usually don’t eat No one could say Okinawan food is bad And it’s cheap—only 1,380 yen per person They also sell cute little items at the entrance Next time, I’d like to try their desserts Everything was delicious The small, well-kept garden was also lovely Beautiful things, delicious food—I felt great returning to the hotel The first day in Okinawa is ending Good morning Today, we’re renting a car from the hotel to go sightseeing This is the Palm Tree Road in Itoman City The sky is clearer than yesterday Rows of palm trees along the southern coast A popular photo spot Planes fly right overhead Next, I visited Azama Sun Beach A horse? I thought I misread It turns out there’s horseback riding as a marine activity You could ruin it and have to clean up, they said A photo spot at Sun Beach The heart-shaped spot has faded Sun Beach offers activities, but I came unaware Parasailing with a motor I couldn’t try it, but kids would love it Clear shallow sea, activities possible, with facilities like restrooms and changing rooms Next, I came to Cafe Kurukuma A Thai food specialty cafe in Okinawa There’s a life-size dinosaur figure at the entrance The view of the sea opens up on the other side I was recommended curry but I ordered something I knew just in case The portion size is huge for one person The pad thai looked slightly different than usual Redder in color, strong ketchup flavor, slightly sweet Different from the pad thai I know Thank you for the meal The garden next to the cafe is well-kept It would be nicer on a cooler day The garden area is larger than the cafe Next stop requires parking and climbing It’s a bit hot ;; This is Seifa Utaki Seifa Utaki is considered the most sacred site It was revered as the highest sacred site of the Ryukyu Kingdom Registered as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage in 2000 There are almost no artificial structures, just forest and natural rock formations The most famous spot features two large rocks forming a triangular passage This path was considered sacred Royal rituals were conducted here during the Ryukyu Kingdom It felt otherworldly, especially after the rain yesterday A place to pray while gazing at Kudaka Island, the “Island of the Gods” A glimpse into Ryukyu history There’s an observation deck behind the rest area The rock looks like a heart, but it’s called Mushroom Rock Heading to the next place Looks like it’s straight out of an anime Taking a short break Even though last orders had ended, they kindly accommodated us I couldn’t get dessert, but… A cafe with a sea view, cute and warm It’s common in Okinawa to have cafes by the sea It helped me relax despite the heat Stopped by for sunset before heading to the hotel A few clouds, but still nice Two days in Okinawa have passed The final day At Itoman City Peace Memorial Park The site of the final battles of WWII The park commemorates the victims of the Battle of Okinawa There’s a Korean memorial Built in 1975 by the Korean government and local Korean organizations Over 10,000 Koreans were forcibly mobilized to Okinawa during the war The stones here were collected from regions across Korea The arrows on the floor point toward Korea It’s a moment that makes you reflect deeply We must never forget the tragedies of war and protect peace Shifting my mood, I headed to the next place Michi-no-Eki Itoman—a roadside station They sell local produce, seafood, and goods There’s a space to eat what you buy I visited the seafood market From raw fish to ready-to-eat dishes So many options, it’s almost overwhelming Everything looks very fresh I got distracted by the fish rather than processed foods They also sell ready-to-eat dishes, making it fun for anyone Small portions let you try many flavors White rice is available too Unlike typical seafood markets, there were more ready-to-eat dishes I picked lobster with uni sauce And fresh oysters—too good to choose Also picked large sweet shrimp Wasabi and soy sauce are available You can eat at the outdoor tables The lobster looked huge, but it was actually two pieces It was incredibly fresh and delicious I rarely eat raw shrimp, but this was amazing The lobster had a nice texture, but eating it was a bit tricky The uni sauce was unique Truly enjoyed it Although it was sunny all day, it started raining I stopped by Blue Seal Ice Cream Okinawa’s soul food Afterwards, it was time to return the rental car and head home On the way, a police mannequin by the road made me smile ^^ Okinawa is not just a resort, but a place full of living stories See you again ^^
