日本の直島を探索 – 散策の始まり
All right, welcome back everyone to the perfect walk. My name’s Clint and we are on Nashima Island. It’s a island in the inland sea of Japan, famous for modern art, believe it or not. and we’re going to wander around. If you’re looking for films of art exhibits, like inside museums, this is likely not the place. Looks like lots of folks want to rent bicycles. We’ll be walking. This is not the perfect bike. This is the perfect walk. And I don’t think you’re allowed to film like inside the galleries. So, we won’t be filming inside the galleries, but we will see I would assume lots of like statues and art of that type. Big ferry port here. We took a little small boat over the Thunderbird which was totes awesome. Yeah, that doesn’t look like a bad way to see the island right there, does it? Wow. Okay, let’s check this out first. I already saw like 30 things I want to see. God bless. Japan, you be crazy. I think we’re going to have to go wide angle. There we go. It’s going to be a pretty day, y’all. [Applause] Told you so. Look at that blue sky. All right. I saw a little side street down here that I wanted to check out. All right, you are here. I want to go back in this whole situation here. We’ll come back and look at that map again later. Oh yes, this is the No, I don’t know where we’re going. So, we’ll follow this cat. Or maybe not. Or maybe. Yes. That looks like the end of the line up there. All right. Let’s check out town. The local 7-Eleven and I think we will walk around this way. As always, everyone, we’re not in it for the tourist spots. We’re in it for the everyday life. Walking in a different part of the world, seeing the sights, sounds and scenes, in this case of a beautiful Japanese island. Nice neighborhood. Let’s see. That looks like a dead end culdeac. So, we’ll check out this way. Very pretty. Look at that view. There’s a Very pretty. All right. Now, right or left? That is a big mountain up there. That doesn’t sound very fun at all. But it might be the way to go to the rest of the island. I am here for the wonders. All right, we can go I guess straight up here and just keep wandering following this road. I’ll slow down a little bit. Let them get ahead. There’s It’s not a great feeling having somebody filming behind you. Gorgeous day. Wow, the sky today is popping. I can only hope that you’re seeing it as blue as I’m seeing it. in the video. It’s gorgeous in real life. Gorgeous. Oh, we’re back out at the port now and we found some art. It’s our first art. Oh, I think you can walk inside this art. I’m going to do it. It looks like the name of this piece is N A04. Oh, hello Huh? Yeah, you can walk into it. How about that? You got to like walk walkable art. Not too shabby. on the power. Let’s see what do Oh, there’s one of those big gourds. This island is famous for having one of those that’s yellow. It’s like on every brochure and picture that’s ever been taken. We’ll try and find that today as well cuz when in Noshima, I mean, you don’t really need modern art when you look at this setting. And look at that. Good lord. What a place. I absolutely love this inland sea part of Japan, the cities on the edge of it. And also the sea itself in the islands just fantastically beautiful. So I guess we’re just going to walk around the island. That’s good because walking over the top of the island sounds like a lot of work. You know, and if you’re new to the channel, you might not know this, but uh we try to do 30 minute episodes. And so we’ve got about 15 more minutes or so remaining today. Wow. Come on. Well, I could happily just stay here. Oh, but there’s more to see. More to see. Miles to walk before we sleep, as it were. God, this place is pretty. And the climate is so good right now. 75 degrees and sunny today. It’s in April. April is such a good time to visit Japan. Don’t go chase cherry blossoms. You can see a cherry tree most places in the world. There’s a lot of other Japanese things that uh you can’t. Unpopular opinion. But I’ve seen a lot of cherry trees. And while pretty, never actually the highlight of my trip. Is that a turtle? Look away for a second. I think it is a turtle, but I think it’s an ex turtle. Thought it might be laying eggs. It’s laid its last egg. Circle of life, etc. little playground and public toilet and another little neighborhood here. Let’s check this out. It’s kind of cool. Pretty little public beach. I like this. Could you imagine living in a place like this? Those folks do. Wonder if you take it for granted. Like sometimes I take for granted that I live 5 minutes from the prettiest horse farms in the world. But that’s kind of different, I think, because you can’t just wander through the horse farms here. You can go walk on the beach because you live one minute from it. But I guess everybody has their regular lives. Not fair to compare the free time you have while you’re wandering around traveling to the, you know, paying the bills, taking care of the kids, buying the groceries, everyday life that folks need to lead. But one would hope that occasionally you sit back and appreciate, man, I live here. And for most of us, that here would be a dream for somebody else. Like this might be totally normal for some For me, it’s unique and a dream come true. My favorite place in the world. I’ve got some time now, so I think I’ll tell you a story. Little travel story. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know this one. I was in a small town way out in the mountains in Shikoku yesterday. got done with my walk and I was pretty exhausted and soon as I sat down on the train, some red messages started flashing and I pulled out Google Translate to listen to the conductor give his message. He gave his message and turns out someone had been hit by a train up the tracks a little ways. Very scary stuff. Very sorry for that person. What it meant for me was that all trains were cancelled effective immediately in that part of the island, which is a pretty big deal. And I was stuck. So, started running through my options. Should we go this way? Not yet. Let’s go look at the coast. Anyway, I started running through my options in my head. I’d seen a pretty great looking hotel in that town. So, I considered, well, the trains will be running tomorrow. Do I go back and get a room at the hotel? Hop on booking. Book it up. Thought about that. I looked up going the other way around the island counterclockwise. That looked like it was going to take about 10 hours and not be a realistic option because it was already 2:30 in the afternoon. So, as I was sitting outside pondering life, uh, nice older Japanese lady saw that I was obviously a little bit perplexed by the situation. and she took it upon herself to come over and ask me if I needed help. Her English was not very good. So that in and of itself I thought was a a bit of an act of bravery and kindness. So I explained that I was I told her where I was going and shared with her that I was trying to figure out how to get back to Matsuyama Jr. Station. She then walked me over to the bus stop and I used a Google Translate to look at the bus timets and there was a bus coming in about a little over an hour. So, she shared with me how to get my refund from the JR agent and then we went back to the bus stop. I was really, really thankful. So, I looked around and saw no convenience stores, which was odd, but no convenience stores for reals. Uh, but there was a little local bakery. So, went over to the little local bakery and bought a dozen pastries. Came back to the bus stop. There were about uh 10 of us there. small town and uh I handed out all the pastries to everybody. Everybody was very thankful. Everybody ate the pastries. Nobody declined. That was interesting. I shared that I had purchased them at the at the shop across the street. Anyway, long story short, we all sat down and ate pastries together, sipped on some water, and got to know each other, talked about where we were from. Really, really a great moment. And when we got on the bus, I rode the bus with one of my new friends and we talked the whole way. Talked about our families, our hobbies. It was a fantastic travel experience. such nice kind people and such positivity despite a difficult situation. very very inspiring stuff and I’m just flat out never let down when I throw myself on the kindness of strangers. never a let down and always thankful for the good in the world. So that’s the story. I posted some pictures up on Instagram. You can check that out. But it was for me really wonderful, great experience, super [Applause] positive and I met some new friends. We’ve already emailed. All right, hope you all enjoyed that. It’s about time for me to wrap up today’s walk. If you’d like to see the rest of our trek around the island, please join me for part two of Naima. Thank you as always for the love and support. I see a good spot for us to stop up here. How about this? It’s like they knew that I was going to end my video right here. All right. Thank you everybody for the love and support from Noshima. See you next time. Bye for now.

0:12 Beautiful looking Island😎Thank you for sharing this exploration walk Wander🙂👍!!!
That little lady was an angel sent to help you. Sweet story.
I noticed the folks there put walls up around their home instead of fences. It's like most people live in their own small forts.
Nice ending.
