LAS COSAS ESTAN DIFICILES EN MEXICO | CHIAPAS 🇲🇽

– I feel, Mateo, that life in Mexico gets harder and harder every day. – Today I told my husband I’m going to take him out for a walk. – Where? – In Chiapas. – Look where this woman brought me. – We’re in the capital of Chiapas, Tuxtla Gutiérrez. – She’s already a Chiapanecan, Lisanna. – That ‘s it – because it’s the state with the most diverse nature and everything – In all of Mexico, it’s Lisanna’s favorite place in Mexico. – Let’s see, we haven’t been to it yet. – Today for the first time we’re going out for a tour – and with Lisanna it’s become somewhat of a trend. – You remember that in Mexico City – we took that tour bus to go around – Well, today we’re going to do exactly the same thing. – We’re going to take a little bus with Lisanna – that will take us to some places here in Tuxtla – from where we are and the outskirts that we were interested in seeing. – That’s right. – Mainly the Sumidero Canyon. – Exactly, – because it’s a place that looks like something out of a movie, and many Mexicans. – When we went to Thailand – and filmed that famous beach, – which I remember the name correctly, – where Leonardo DiCaprio made the movie Rocks, everything – there’s a similar place in Mexico. – And from that moment on, we kept that information in mind – and today we came to learn about it. – This is the Plaza de la Marimba, the Marimba Park. – If you don’t know the marimba, – it’s a musical instrument that we’ll tell you more about later tonight because it’s something very Chiapas-like – and I love it because it’s a lot of fun. – Lisanna is a marimba fanatic. – And at night, when we finish the tour – we’re going to come back to this plaza because every night people come together, – sit down and play the marimba there. – What was it called here? – Kiosk. – So we’re going to have a day with a lot of things today. – And here’s the transport that’s going to take us, – which notice is a little different from the big one – the one where you sit on the roof to see the sights. – It’s very good, – It’s an open traffic because the bigger one takes a tour inside the city – and this one goes outside. – It costs 300 pesos per person. – And the good thing is that they’ll take us to different points of interest and wait for us. – It’s not like you leave afterward and have to wait for the other one to come, no. – They stay there waiting – and there’s more extra if you want to buy something, – if there’s an entrance fee to pay, – if you want to take a tour on the boat, but that’s all optional. – So let’s see what happens today. – That’s how we’re going to get on. – Where do you want to sit? – Wherever you want, my love. – Well, here we are, already on the bus. – There aren’t many people, so it’s going to be like a private tour. – As the driver, a VIP, said , – he’d never been on one before. – He has a seatbelt. – And it’s the first time Lisanna and I are going to ride on one. – These aren’t called Turbus, they’re called Anda Bus. – They have a different name. – But it’s the first time we’re going to ride on one of these. – It’s like an open traffic bus. – Yes, it’s like it was rebuilt at home. – Exactly. – They removed this part from here and opened a window . – Spectacular. – Let’s go. – Now we arrive at Sumidero Canyon National Park. – As we said, there’s an entrance fee for Mexicans. – Since we’re residents, we pay 60 pesos each, – if not, 120. – And there’s an elderly couple . – Which is free. – So it’s a good thing I brought the card today because they give us a discount. – There are five viewpoints in the park. – We’re going to visit three —because there wouldn’t be time to see them all. – The one we’re at is called Mirador La Coyota, – which is this one. – And they told us that here too, if you pay attention, you can see little animals. – Yes, I told you, the whole list. – There I have it. – Lisanna wrote them down because she’s an animal fanatic. – Crocodiles, hawksbills, herons, eagles, and bats. – Oh, but there’s still one missing . – For example, the deer. – There’s also the white-tailed deer. – Let’s see the view. – Wow. – And now we’re going to see Sumidero Canyon. – There’s a lot of air, very fresh. – It’s beautiful. – We’re at 400 meters above sea level. – Oh wow. – Bigger than I thought. – How incredible. – I came a little way here. – Wow. – No, it’s impressive. – I don’t think you ever see the size on camera, – but with the naked eye it’s enormous. – And the beauty. – And there are a lot of eagles. – It reminds me a bit of the movie Avatar. – Like that. – Look what’s there. – No, I don’t like that one. – A scratch. – A huge scratch hanging there. – Incredible place. – If you don’t know, it’s a deep and narrow canyon – that was created by the Grijalva River over millions of years – and that’s why it’s like this. – The walls reach a thousand meters high. – We are at 400 meters an hour – and we’re going to keep climbing, – the temperature here is getting cooler – and if you’re going to come around here, a jacket like me – look at Lisanna, it would be good. – I may not be that cold, but this place isn’t crazy. – Now we arrive at the second viewpoint called Mirador de Tepehuaje – and they named it that because of these trees, you see – which are all white – and they say they have a mystical story that the elves live right here. – Do you remember we talked in the last video about some elves who take care of nature – and that if you don’t bring them an offering, they can play tricks on you? – Well, they say they live there. – Now we’re going to see the viewpoint, – but first Lisanna wanted to tell you something. – If you want to come to impressive places like this, travel more , and find cheaper prices, we recommend Surfshark VPN. – What is a VPN, Mateo? – A VPN is a virtual private network that will allow you to connect to any part of the world anonymously and securely, and obtain a series of benefits , such as, for example , finding better prices on airline tickets and hotels, renting a car, unblocking content that may be blocked in your country. – You can also browse safely , because you know that by connecting to public internet , your accounts may be accessed, and your data may be hacked and stolen. – But the best of all, people , is that with this link Surfshark/myl you will get 4 extra months to take advantage of this very useful VPN that we have been using for 3 years. – And if you don’t like it, Surfshark will give you your money back, so don’t worry. – Now we are going to see this El Tpuaje viewpoint , which they say has one of the best views of all the stops we are going to make. – I’m going to fly the drone. – Come on, Lisanna, take a nice drone. – Drone me around the area a bit, Lisanna, – let’s see what we can see from here. – Let’s do a drone, – a really big drone. – The last viewpoint we’re going to visit today is Mirador Los Chiapas. – There’s also a restaurant here, and it’s kind of the biggest. – In a little while, we’ll see – the guide who’s accompanying us told us the history of this place – and the truth is, it’s quite sad. – Why was it named Mirador Los Chiapas? – The Chiapas were indigenous people who lived in the area here. – When the Spanish came, – the colonizers, to invade this place, they wanted to enslave them. – Since they didn’t want to accept that slavery, what did they do? – They all gathered here together at the top of the viewpoint, – where we are now, in the Sumidero Canyon, – and jumped into the void, – thus committing collective suicide. – That story marked the history of this place – and that’s why the name Mirador Los Chiapas was registered. – So here is the viewpoint where the story goes that they threw themselves into the void. – A sad and striking story, – but remembered by the entire population of Chiapas to this day. – Now, the guide told us we have two options. – One would be to follow the tour that goes to Somat, – which is a very large zoo here. – And the other is to take a boat ride through the sinkhole. – You can see animals, caves, etc. – We chose the boat ride. – From here I can see a boat passing by. – Do you see it there, Lisanna? – Down there. – We’re going to take that tour – and the good thing is that the bus will pick us up afterwards, – so let’s take it and see what it’s like. – Seeing it inside must be impressive. – It really is. – Now we’re going to try two typical Chiapas drinks that are pre-Hispanic. – Pozol and tascala. – Let’s start with pozol first. – It was a Mayan drink, a sacred drink, – important to the entire Mayan community. – And it’s served with ice, so both are cold. – Let’s start with pozol, which is corn dough, cacao, and cinnamon. – We ordered it with water – made with water. – You can make it with milk, – but we can’t drink milk, – so I really liked it. – It’s delicious. – It’s like water chocolate, – but refreshing. – Like having a glass of hot chocolate. – Yes, but cooler . – This one. The color is striking. – This is tascalate and it has a mix of cacao, roasted corn, cinnamon, and sugar. – Almost the same. – It has a roasted flavor. – This one. – I liked them both. – I’m trying this one now. – It’s like a refreshing water, like a cold cacao juice. – Yes, this one is delicious. – This one. Do you know what it tastes like? – Burnt popcorn. – A little, yes. – Popcorn juice. This one – it’s like taking popcorn, crushing it with ice and a little sugar. – Both are delicious. – Cheers. – Cheers. – Approved by Mateo and Lisanna . Chiapas drinks are delicious, so. – If you come to Chiapas, you know what you have to drink. – Yes, very delicious. – Now we arrive at Chiapa de Corzo, – which is a magical town – and this is where the boats will leave to see the inside of the canyon. – And here it’s also important because in this plaza – right there in the center – to give you an idea, Chiapas de Corzo – was the first town the Spanish arrived in Chiapas in 1528. – I certainly didn’t know that, my love. – Did you see? – I have such an intelligent wife. – And this one in the middle is called La Pila, – which is the main bridge. – And this Mudejar style is like Arabic inspiration. – So look, it has a lot of history. – And we’re going to the boardwalk, as I understood. – That’s where all the piers are. – We’re following our group here. – And we’re also on the main street where all the tourist part is. – The guide told us that it’s full of shops selling handicrafts. – There’s also a marimba there. – This is all in the state of Chiapas. – And around here you see all the shops where you can walk around – and learn much more about the local culture. – The truth is that the town looks very pretty. – Very pretty. – Lots of restaurant options too. – Now look at this. – What a lovely place. – They also say there’s another town nearby: San Cristóbal de las Casas. – San Cristóbal de las Casas, – which is a beautiful magical town. – Look at all the handicrafts there are here. – What a lovely place. – Look, there are jaguars too. – Will there be a mini marimba later? – We can see it . – Yes, I saw it there. – There you have it. Look, there it is. – Does it play? – No, it doesn’t, but they’re just for decoration. – I’d like a mini marimba because it makes a sound. – I’m sure there must be one. – And now, apart from handicrafts, – we’ve also seen with Iisanna, a lot of flags are starting to appear – and objects with the Mexican flag. – Because in September. – September 15. – September 15. – Is that the Cry of Independence, you see? – There are already little things from Mexico there and it’s celebrated. – And here everything is dressed in the colors of the Mexican flag. – That’s right. – Last year we were in Guadalajara celebrating El Grito – and we didn’t really understand at what time it was because we were still kind of newcomers, do you remember? – No, but in the end they told us, they told us. – Look, look how nice. – Here we arrived at the pier. – Everything can be done on your own too, – you just have to get here and book the tour. – There are two options: a shared boat with 20 to 40 people , which takes 2 hours and 15 minutes and takes you to a dam. – The price is 350 pesos per person , and if there isn’t, another tour is a private boat. – A thousand pesos for the four of us, but I think it’s a little more. – And it’s an hour and ten hour tour, and we’re going to see the animals and also see the sinkhole. – So we’re going for an hour and ten – And I call her Lizana because I’m going to split my head in the sun – and that one has a roof, – dude, we’ll give her a little explanation about the tour, the one-hour tour. – Yeah, the four of us are going for a thousand. – Who do I pay? – The gentleman? – Here, sir. – I’ll pay two people here, I’ll pay you. – Look, that’s where we’re going today on the river – I already forgot the name. – Grijalva River. – Grijalva River. – Can you fish there or not? – They catch some nice fish, mojarra, macavil, bair. – Ah, look, look, and heal the crocodile. – There it is. – Look how big it is. – That’s the one you’re going to see today. – But it’s a doll. – Is it real? – Is it? – There’s the vest. – Now we’re entering the Sumidero Canyon park. – Look, people, how impressive. What is this? – Lisanna, look at the cacti on the rock. – Have you seen anything like this before? – How nice. – Oops. – A crocodile. – What a crocodile. – Where? – Ah, look at it. – Look how big. – Crocodile Mateo – It’s big. – Huge, bigger than the one in Cozumel. – I can’t even see it from here. – These Sumidero walls are crazy . – Seeing them from the inside is really something else. – It’s worth coming down here by boat to see all this. – Look there, the crocodile resting on the shore. – I wanted to see the crocodile, but I did – so it was worth it. – What a cute critter. – How big. – Lucky we caught one resting on the shore. – No, look at the root of that tree. – How crazy how it ended up on the rock. – There are trees that look like they’re going to fall down, but they stay stuck there. – How beautiful this place is. – The beauty of it all is truly impressive. – Look, the rock here, it’s cracked. – How crazy this rock is. – Look, bird. – Wow. – Look at the bird . – The one that eats all the remains. – Spider web. – Do you see the spider web there? – Who knows how many spiders there are there. – Well, we got off the boat. – The ride was beautiful, really. – The sinkhole is. – Yes, look, Mateo, I wanted to say something. – I feel, Mateo, – that every day life in Mexico gets harder and harder. – Why? – Because the more I see, the more I don’t know where to stay. – Because how can one country have so many different landscapes? – Snow, volcano, desert, Caribbean, Pacific, – canyon, tropical, cold, snow, forests, cucumbers, – I don’t understand anymore. – And so many endless options to visit. – It’s as if you had many countries within one country. – Exactly. – You never get tired. – You can travel here for 20 years and never finish. – It’s impressive. – It’s really complicated to have so many options in life. – that’s it – It’s like that, it’s a country where you don’t need to leave. – If you live here, you don’t need to go to another country on vacation. – You can go see the snow – and the Passage costs you two pesos here. – Yes, there are plane tickets sometimes. – The whole country costs 20 dollars, 30 dollars. – Well, and if we’re talking about food and you can stay there your whole life and not try all the dishes. – So we went north, – to eat meat – we didn’t go. – How nice. – In Sonoro. – Well, – we’re here in the town’s central plaza. – Look how beautiful this church is. – Beautiful how it is. – Well kept, well painted. – And what we’re going to do now with Nissana is find a place to go eat. – Time to eat. – It’s time to eat – and you know that in Chiapas there is also an amazing culinary diversity. – So let’s try something. – There’s so much cotorra here. – Well, we’re going to start with a Chiapas appetizer. – They brought us here courtesy of the house. – Chicken zinga. – What do I think this is? – Chicken with onions and some kind of spicy red sauce. – Zinga or tinga? – Zinga, I think I heard. – Thank you. – How delicious. – Melon and lemon juice and corn tortilla chips. – Well, – very delicious. – You’re going to love it. – Just a little nibble. – Very little . – It’s good. – Miss Lisanna, with the marimba in the background, we have two very Chiapas dishes. – This is the cochita, if I heard correctly. – This is a dish served with cooked pork on top of broth, – as you can see, they add radish, salad, and onion. – And the broth, that’s what the pork releases – because it’s been cooking for hours, and it comes with a side of rice. – Take a sip. – It’s not soup, it’s not soup, it’s the broth. – Good, very good. – Here we have the pepita with tataco. – This is made with beef, a pumpkin sauce – and it can be accompanied with these delicious tortillas. – Well, let’s try it and see how it is. This – is good. – And this one? – The cochita. – Oh, what’s that? – A piece of pork. – How nice. – A cube. – Well, – this isn’t a broth, it’s actually a sauce. – It’s incredible. – And let’s see the pork. – Very good food, – very tasty, very well cooked, – very well seasoned, very rich chapanecan food. – Enjoy. – Well, now we’re at our penultimate stop – and we’re at the glorious Christ of Copoya. – And why did we come to see this place? – Because here in the capital of Chiapas, – is the tallest Christ in all of America. – It even surpasses the famous Christ the Redeemer in Brazil, – which I thought was the largest of all, but no, here it is before you. – It’s really big. – It’s gigantic. – It’s made of stainless steel, – that’s why it shines so much. – Aside from that, they call it Christ of Copaya – because it’s right here in the Copoya neighborhood. – And they built it on top of a hill, a hill that was prepared to support this structure – because there were other taller hills, – but what happened is that when the rain came, with all that weight, – there was a risk that the ground would give way and everything would collapse. – Then on the hill of Copoia they were able to do it and raise this magnificent tower with a Christ in the middle, – hollow-shaped, as you can see, and a cross. – Beautiful. – It’s really beautiful. – Impressive. – Let’s go to the viewpoint – and let’s see the viewpoint. – Ah, look, here there’s a statue of Pope Francis, – the Argentine Pope. – And here Chiapas is committed to praying for His Holiness Francis. – They put this up in gratitude for the visit to Chiapas. – Look, Francis came to Chiapas on February 15, 2016. – Wow. – I didn’t know that. – Many people on the channel don’t know, – but I’m Argentine and so was Pope Francis – and the truth is that it makes me very proud that he came to visit Chiapas, – that he came to visit Mexico. – I find that impressive. – Do you want to see the viewpoint, Lisanna? – Yes, you can see all of Tuxtla from up here too, – I mean, there are viewpoints. – You pay 10 pesos per person to enter. – Wow. – Look, we can see the entire city of Tuxtla from here. – That’s where we went today. – Ah, from the other side of the city. – Like the Mexicans do. – That, that, that, that. – The kid did it like this. Look how nice. – And is there a place here to take pictures, huh? – You can even go higher, there are more viewpoints. – We’re at the bottom, but there’s one up there too. – Here you can leave little messages, requests, and thanks. – Virgin Mary, Untier of Knots. – People come here, – leave a little message tied with a knot so the Virgin can untie the knot – or the problem you’re having – and it also works to take a picture. – There’s the little Virgin, see? – That’s the Virgin – and there she is with the rope full of knots because she’s the Virgin who unties knots. – Look, Lisanna, this is what I was telling you, see? – Christ of Unleaded Otero from Spain, there’s another one in Mexico, in Las Noas. – Christ of Concord, also in Mexico. – Christ the Redeemer from Brazil, it’s 38 meters. – And this one is 48. – 10 meters bigger. – Glorious Christ of Chiapas. – There it is. – Well, the thing we just got back from the tour was spectacular. – We love getting on the bus, visiting places – and now we’re going to end the day with a unique plaza – of this place that if you come to Chiapas you have to know the marimba, – if not, you didn’t come to Chiapas. – The marimba is an instrument that came from Africa and Central America, – but in Mexico they made it with their own wood, then. – It has a unique sound, but in Chiapas they made it with their own wood – and it became part of the local culture, – into the most traditional and emblematic thing that this place has. – So if you come to Chiapas you have to see the marimba – and the marimba plaza, where people dance and the orchestras play – A curious thing is that there are many benches to sit on – and people really come to watch the show, – I think there are every day. – Look how many people are here. – Let’s see, this one is played. – There’s Lisanna, look, to grab. – I don’t think it’s true, – No. – No, this one is true. – There are vendors, many people gather here in the plaza – and Lisanna is a fan of the marimba, she’s liked it for a long time. – Sometimes in the morning she would set her alarm clock with marimba music – and I would wake up to that because she didn’t know what it was. – I find it funny, – I wouldn’t say fanatic, but something she likes. – Look here how many people are sitting watching the show – and up ahead there are a bunch of couples who are turning – and they start dancing as soon as the orchestra starts playing. – Let’s see if we can show you people dancing – so you can get a glimpse of what it’s like. – It’s the first plaza I see. There are 10 benches in a row. – It’s basically an auditorium plaza – where people sit and watch the show. Everything is free, public – and there are shows almost every day. – I really thought the idea was excellent because it maintains the tradition. – and that people come here to sit every day to watch it because yesterday it was also full – and that they dance is incredible and people like it, they participate, it’s really good. – Well, now we’re going back home, today we did a tour, – 8 hours a day we were out, that’s how it is to do everything. – That’s why ask why you always eat you see it’s not something quick. What is done, – people always ask us why you always eat and if they don’t get tired of traveling – and they are thinner in person they tell us those three things they always tell us. – So very well here we are finishing the tour through the capital of Chiapas, – The truth is a very nice place, very pleasant, very cool people, very calm, very friendly. – So if you liked it give it a like and we’ll see you in the next video. – Bye bye.
