Since filming this video, it's come to our attention that we didn't have all of the facts when visiting the Hoa Lo Prison Museum (AKA "Hanoi Hilton"). We naively assumed (wrong on our part) that when going to a museum we would be given historically accurate information. After receiving numerous comments (which we thank you for) and doing some of our own research, we now know that much of what was portrayed at the museum was propaganda and we apologize for spreading any false information. We don't always get it right, but we appreciate you being on this journey with us and helping us improve. -Matt and Nat

I have not visited Hanoi since 2005
I HATE HANOI…. it's too far away, it's filled of nice people with good service and laughts… it's cheap and I who don't even like hot weather have fell so hard for Vietnam -but Hanoi is my favorite city that I visited so far in the world… It blew me away the first time and the time I got back I were almost tearing up as a grown man….
I hate that I can't come back as much as I would like to.

In our town there is a place called “ what the Pho”
In your tour of the “Hanoi Hilton” you make it sound like some sort of resort for American prisoners. As a 2nd Generation Marine Corps Infantry Veteran I cannot even begin to explain how insulting this is to veterans. John McCain and all other American Prisoners of War WERE BRUTALLY TORTURED THERE and you make it sound like a vacation place. Maybe you should read a little history about the places you visit before making incredibly uneducated comments about something you obviously know nothing about. My father and all of my uncles fought in Vietnam. You have disgraced the honor of Vietnam Veterans and POW’s with these comments. This is not ok.

So you guys have been ordering a prostitute all this time and all you get is a hot bowl of noodles? What a rip off!! Hahaha! Regarding drinks, Viets don't drink and eat at the same time. Growing up, no drinks on our table served with the food. We eat, then afterwards, we drink. I think anymore, we do drink because of Western ways, but maybe over there, the restaurants specialize in one thing so they feel they don't have to offer drinks…especially that place you guys went to as I think it's supposed to be really popular.
Okay, that massage story you guys told had me dying. I bet you guys were sore for 3 days after, too. There are vloggers whom have gone there and missed the train on Train Street, but you guys saw 3 trains go by? How long were you there?! Lucky.
Regarding the bun cha, the place you guys went to isn't necessarily the best place, but the best place for the Secret Service to protect Obama. You should have dipped the fried spring roll into the sauce. Pretty much everything in Vietnam is dipped if it doesn't come in it's own sauce/broth.
I think of all the vloggers I've seen, you guys are up there with your Vietnamese pronunciation. It's not 100% perfect, but it's WAY better than most Westerners. As far as how to say pho, I'd say it like "fuh-uh". Vietnamese is a one syllable language, but there's often a rollercoastering of the sounds. So don't divide it into two different syllables, but roll it into one where you go down at the beginning, then come up at the end.
As far as being incorrect about the war, hey, each side likes to tell it's own story. The truth is often biased – depending on the teller. Yes, McCain was tortured, but the US was also over there fighting a war that should not have been fought. More bombs dropped than all of WWII. Historical sites reduced to ashes forever. The people, country, land, etc., poisoned. Women raped and children killed. The US wasn't Vietnam's enemy before all this as Ho Chi Minh admired the US and asked for help to get rid of the French. He assumed since the US fought for independence from the British, he'd get more sympathy. But it all fell on deaf ears until China and Russia decided to help. Millions of Vietnamese died or suffered for decades after. Then when Vietnam was on its knees after fighting other wars, the US placed an embargo on it. Now you go over there and there's no animosity towards you. Cannot say the same would happen if history was reversed.

I literally laughed out loud with Matt’s description of his massage!!! That happened to us in Italy of all places! We had spent days sightseeing and walking and were literally in need of a massage. My daughter and cousin were so excited because we found a very reasonably priced Thai massage place. We booked a massage for the 3 of us – who would think that we would be placed in the same room?!!! Since I was still recovering from breast cancer surgery, I had a very relaxing massage and literally fell asleep. Woke up to a grunt and found my daughter and cousin in a sort of sumo wrestler hold while being lifted up by these tiny women!!! Talk about wanting a camera!!! We still laugh about it.
