【小田原旅】城下町を歩く|歴史・文化財そして伝統の味にふれる旅| 週末おとな旅
35 minutes by Shinkansen from Tokyo You’ll arrive in Odawara in no time. A visit to a shop selling Odawara’s crafts: marquetry. A variety of carefully crafted pieces. This shop has a workshop next door. You can also see the production process. As I get older, carefully crafted items appear more beautiful. Those kinds of items Take a closer look. I pick out the ones that catch my eye. I welcome them into my home. I choose my favorites in natural light. They look similar, but they’re completely different. My husband said he wanted some coasters too. I bought some chopstick rests and coasters. Lunchtime A lovely building Nationally Registered Tangible Cultural Property and Nationally Designated Historic Site It’s like stepping into a movie world A building with a blend of Japanese and Western styles that evokes the Meiji era’s modernization A staff member will guide you around the building After enjoying the museum, it was time for lunch. I ordered the Mizutaki set. Chicken tempura You can choose between white rice and dry curry. It’s starting to look good. I was thinking of having hotpot in the summer, but… I love mizutaki (chicken hotpot), so… Please forgive the hot video. I always thought of this chicken tempura as a side dish, but… It was surprisingly soft and fluffy, and delicious. Dry curry, too. I was surprised, but… It was delicious. Relaxing while enjoying a garden view satisfies both the stomach and the soul. Thank you for the meal. You can also go out into the garden, so I’ll take a quick look at it at the end. The building itself is quite charming from the outside. Odawara is known for its castles. Odawara Castle is a must-see. I’m not a history buff. My husband, a history buff, will be explaining the tour (lol). Apparently, Odawara Castle has a complex structure designed to prevent enemy invasions. After passing through the main gate, I walked around in circles. It took ages to get there (sweats) Finally, I could see the castle tower. Beautiful… So that’s what it used to look like. An incredible structure surrounded by mountains and the sea. In an age without machines. I wonder how they made it. I’d like to travel back in time. I’d like to see it from afar. That’s what I was thinking. I also received this. To the neighboring Hotoku Ninomiya Shrine This shrine is dedicated to Kinjiro Ninomiya. I received a special 130th anniversary stamp along with my goshuin. I wrote down my wish and offered it. I wonder if something good will happen? Wonderful jazz music playing inside the shop. And live music! At a tea specialty store. I enjoyed black tea made in the shop’s own workshop. I ordered Japanese black tea chai and panna cotta. Lightly sweet and refreshing. The atmosphere is wonderful. It’s so relaxing. And by chance, I even got to hear live music. It was a truly wonderful experience. Making the most of a traditional Japanese house. They grow pesticide-free tea leaves in the tea fields around Odawara. They deliver it to us. It was a wonderful shop. While walking around town, I came across a building that caught my eye. I wonder what kind of shop it is. It was a shop selling kamaboko, a specialty of Odawara. Wow, what exquisite kamaboko! I bet it’s delicious! Yuzu-flavored datemaki? Intrigued Locals were buying satsumaage (fried fish cakes). I’m interested in all of them. Namahanpen (fresh fish cakes). I’m looking for souvenirs to take home. When I think of seaside towns, I think of dried fish. A long-established, traditional, handmade dried fish shop The walls of the shop are covered with wooden dried fish tags. There are so many varieties, it’s hard to choose. I received a few gifts, including a special assortment of damaged fish. It’s packed with great things. A lovely seaside town.
