It’s famous as a haunted spot. Many people have taken their lives there. It’s nicely maintained. This is the source of the Hikiji River. The source of the river seems to be further in, but you can’t enter. There must have been a lot of heartless people there. As expected from Yamato City. Humans. Dangerous. Cross Route 246. Route 246 cuts through the middle of the forest. Looking at the map, we can see that the old Oyama Highway bypassed the forest. There’s a strange building there. The graffiti all over the place is a result of Yamato City’s poor public safety. The pink building seems to be a love hotel. Accommodation is 6500 yen on weekdays and 8500 yen on weekends. The price is for two people, so tourists can get a good deal if a man and a woman stay together. Was the building I saw from the bridge pier earlier also a love hotel? It’s a little expensive, but it’s a newer looking building, so this one is better. We have arrived at Mitake Shrine. It’s set in concrete. The thing in the corner must be old. Maybe they couldn’t throw it away? The surrounding area is made up of construction companies. I followed the road and arrived at the Tomei Expressway. 静かに閉ざされた森の入口に立つと、空気がわずかに変わった気がした。神奈川県大和市、泉の森を抜けて三峰神社へと向かう。木々の間を通る道は丁寧に整備されているが、その奥には近づけない源流が眠っている。立ち入ることができない場所に、かつて誰かが残した記憶や、祈りにも似た重さが漂っているようだった。森の中央を国道が横切り、橋の上から見下ろす風景には、都市のざわめきと人の痕跡が刻まれていた。静寂と喧騒のはざまで、あらわになった色彩と建物のかたち。その先、ひっそりと祀られていた三峰神社の境内では、古びた神具や石像が、固められたコンクリートの隅に置かれていた。風に晒されながらも、まだ誰かの信仰の気配を留めていた。熱を帯びた夏の午後、歩くほどに浮かび上がってくるのは、地図には書かれない祈りのかたちだった。
