Before becoming the tourist attraction it is today, Karakol was a Russian military base during the imperial era. One of the most important landmarks is the Holy Trinity Cathedral , an Orthodox wooden church that is one of the oldest and most important in Kyrgyzstan. Importantly, the city is also very ethnically and culturally diverse. There are Kyrgyz, Russian, Dungan, and Uighur ethnic groups, many of whom immigrated due to wars, exiles , and political changes. This is a city in Kyrgyzstan that you must visit at least once. Driving on the roads requires a certain level of expertise. The road is a dirt road for about two hours. What is it called? I saw many European foreigners doing this hike. It takes about 4-5 hours, depending on the speed of each person. The second way, which requires some expertise , is horseback riding. I must say that riding horses in Kyrgyzstan is very common. Children here have to learn to ride horses. They can ride normally. It is another unique feature of Kyrgyzstan. And the last way is the way we chose, which is to take a car up to the top. There are both 4-wheel drive cars and Soviet -style off-road cars. We booked a tour with Destination Karakol , a local tour of Karakol. The price is around 15,000 Som or around 5,600 baht. It can seat 4 people and there is a driver. Also, we will take you up and down from Arahan. Actually, we rented a four-wheel drive car ourselves. Actually, you can drive up if you drive yourself. But I have to say that it’s quite challenging.
