日本在住台湾人が案内【台湾旅🇹🇼古都・台南】2泊モデルコース&名物グルメ紹介|ノスタルジックな街歩き|
Hello everyone. This year, I returned to Taiwan for the Obon holiday after a long time. After relaxing at my family home, I decided to visit Tainan, a popular city in Taiwan. Tainan is known as an ancient capital of Taiwan, so it is often referred to as an old city. There are many ruins and castles in the town, which enhances the atmosphere of the ancient city. Additionally, there are many new tourist spots and local delicacies that you can eat endlessly, which have emerged in recent years. It is a popular tourist destination not only for foreigners but also for Taiwanese people. By the way, my wife, who is from Taipei, is visiting Tainan for the first time. I have always had the impression that it is quite inconvenient to travel outside of Taipei by car or motorcycle, but this time I want to explore Tainan using public buses instead of renting a car. On the first day, we set off from the hotel. It’s a hotel recommended for Marriott fans, and I will introduce it later. There is a bus stop near the entrance, making it very convenient to move to the town center. If you charge your EasyCard from Taipei at a convenience store, you can also use it on the buses in Tainan. If you don’t have one, cash payment is also possible. I want to go eat breakfast today. I’m going to have beef soup from Tainan. I had beef shabu-shabu with a friend yesterday, but Tainan’s beef soup is incredibly famous, and I haven’t tried it yet. Taiwan is hot too, but walking under the eaves like this is very convenient. There’s a bit of elevation change, but it’s really nice without the sunlight. We arrived at the town center in about 20 minutes. Before visiting the tourist spots, I would like to have a typical Tainan breakfast. (Tainan’s beef soup, of course!) The most famous dish representing Tainan is definitely beef soup. It’s said that you would miss out if you don’t eat it while in Tainan, as it’s almost impossible to find in other regions. The ingredients are simple, mainly just beef. It’s a dish where fresh raw beef is placed in hot broth and served medium rare. The lean beef is very tender and has a wonderful sweetness. By the way, in Tainan, it’s common to eat ‘beef soup’ with ‘beef braised rice’, but ‘A-Cun Beef Soup’ does not offer ‘beef braised rice’, so I opted for beef fried rice instead. Since it’s a popular spot, they close once they run out, so it’s recommended to go early. (Rich yet completely refreshing) After the meal, it’s time to stroll around Tainan streets. (Chihkan Tower~) (Unexpectedly under construction) The first tourist spot we visited is Chihkan Tower. It is a historic site built by the Dutch in 1653. Doesn’t it look similar? Not that I’m biased, but. (Hello~ I’m biased~) I thought we could tour the old building, but it turned out to be under construction. This is to preserve the historic site for a longer time. It needs repairs and reinforcement, but it was a bit disappointing. Steps: Wish → Throw wood pieces (both) → Continue until one side shows front and back → Offer a coin → Receive a pencil. There is another popular spot near Red Cliff Tower. It’s the ‘Nan Cheng Xiang Shi’, renovated and designed by Japanese designer Sou Fujimoto. It’s an 8-story building, and from the outside, it’s a bit hard to tell what kind of shop it is, but in fact, it’s the largest ice cream shop in Taiwan. (Old-fashioned stairs~) To be precise, it feels like a café, and in addition to ice cream, there are also light meals and dessert options. The dining area has a retro atmosphere that is fantastic, but the building itself, ‘Nansheng Huashi,’ has a really interesting story. Since I was here, I joined a tour to learn more about the building. It has been over 60 years since it was built and was originally the most famous hotel in the Tainan area, but it reopened in 2022 after being renovated by Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto. The most famous feature is this white staircase. It seems to be designed to evoke the alleys of Tainan in a vertical space. The tour itself was interesting, and I took a lot of photos. It’s not just an ice cream shop; it’s a place where you can fully enjoy the charm of Tainan. (Hello, this is Hayashi~)(Have you seen the latest episode of Dandadan?)(This is Hayashi Department Store~)(Hello, this is Hayashi~) It’s called Tainan Ginza! (So refreshing!) Near the Nan Cheng District, there is the Hayashi Department Store, which is well-known among Japanese people. It was founded by Mr. Hayashi, who is from Yamaguchi Prefecture, during the Japanese era. After 80 years, it has been restored and transformed into a facility that sells Taiwanese specialty products. The first floor mainly features local specialties from Tainan. With so many options, it can be overwhelming, but you’re sure to find a souvenir you’ll love. What is this? Mochi cake – so cute – Trivet – I will go to the Confucius Temple from now on. The Confucius Temple is a place where students taking exams definitely come to pray for knowledge and learning. In fact, Confucius Temples are almost always located in areas with a Chinese community. There’s one in Nagasaki too! There are beautiful dappled sunlight in Taiwan, and it’s super pretty! I traveled back in time a bit and came to the historic tourist spot, the Tainan Confucius Temple. (The weather is nice and the scenery is beautiful~) This is the oldest Confucius Temple in Taiwan, built in 1665, and it served as the first school in Taiwan. It is also referred to as the ‘Capital of Taiwan’. When you come to the Tainan Confucius Temple, I definitely want you to go to the nearby fruit shop ‘Lili Fruit Store’. Although it’s a fruit shop, it’s famous for its shaved ice. It’s a place I always visit whenever I come to Tainan. I came back to the Guohua Street again for lunch. There are various things I want to eat, so I will be hopping from place to place. The first stop is at Fushenghao Wanggui. Wanggui is one of Taiwan’s traditional dishes, made by steaming rice flour to create a mochi-like food. It contains various ingredients such as pork, shrimp, and shiitake mushrooms. It is customary to drizzle a sweet and spicy sauce over it when eating. The chewy texture is truly amazing, and I highly recommend this dish. Next, we headed to the Beef Soup restaurant. Beef soup is famous as a breakfast dish, but there are actually places that serve it for lunch and late-night as well. This Beef Soup restaurant is a popular spot for lunch among them. Here, I also ordered beef minced rice, which I couldn’t have in the morning. It has a different flavor from braised pork rice, and it pairs perfectly with the beef soup. After lunch, we are heading to the Chimei Museum by bus. The Chimei Museum is actually close to the Tainan High-Speed Rail Station. There are buses to the museum from both the Shinkansen station and within Tainan city, so you can access it without using a car or taxi. It’s hot! Really hot! It’s spacious! Really spacious! In front of the entrance, there is a large fountain and a beautifully arranged garden. From the moment you arrive, you feel excited. The patterns reminiscent of a European palace attract many tourists. The ‘Chimei Museum’ showcases Western art, musical instruments, weapons, and natural history pieces collected by the founder of the major Taiwanese chemical company, Chimei Industrial. After visiting the museum, I returned to Tainan City and came to the ‘Blue Print Cultural and Creative Park’. This is a renovated spot that was previously used as a dormitory for judicial officials. It has now become a complex facility where you can enjoy art and shopping. (Taiwanese language practice time~) In the evening, I came to ‘Teifuhatsu Abura Bantan Rice.’ It’s a simple dish that just mixes pork fat and soy sauce into hot rice, but it’s a traditional Taiwanese flavor that you can eat as much as you want. There are also various classic home-cooked Taiwanese dishes like ‘Gong Wan Soup’ and ‘Century Egg Tofu’. I recommend it to those who love Taiwanese cuisine. For dessert after the meal, we went to a Japanese-style Taiwanese soft serve shop called ‘Nian Wei Jia’. The soft serve, which contains no additives at all, is always very popular. By the way, it seems to be relatively less crowded in the morning and evening, so it’s recommended to go during those times. Tainan is a city that becomes more beautiful as night falls. A particular highlight is Shennong Street. It’s a narrow alley just about 500 meters long, lined with traditional houses that are over a hundred years old on both sides. It’s interesting to visit during the day, but at night, the lanterns are lit up, creating an amazing atmosphere. Next, I will introduce the hotel for this trip. We stayed at ‘Aloft Tainan Anping’, which is a bit away from the city center. It’s spacious~ Now we have arrived at Tainan Anping. The room we are staying in is Aloft Tainan Anping. The cushions are cute~ Here is the room~ It’s a corner room, so you can see views from both sides, and it feels incredibly open. The bathroom is also very clean. The best part is this bathtub. It’s stylish! It’s for one person, and you can enjoy the view while relaxing. There are no supplies here. Taiwan is currently in the same situation as Korea. All consumable supplies are charged, and there are no toothbrushes. This is the shower room. The room was very spacious and provided a pleasant space where you could enjoy views of the sea, the park, and even the sunset. Additionally, if you are a Platinum member or higher, you can receive free drinks for the number of people in your party at the bar on the first floor every day. The breakfast was surprisingly good, featuring Tainan specialties like beef soup and dan dan noodles. There was a wide variety and it was very delicious. The Anping area in Tainan is a popular tourist destination where you can enjoy historical buildings and gourmet food. The nostalgic streets still retain landmarks from the 17th century, such as the Anping Fort built by the Dutch and the trading company ‘Yang Hang’ from that time. Before starting the sightseeing on the second day, we visited a very famous shop in the Anping area called ‘Wang’s Fish Skin’. This is ‘Sabahii’. Packed with collagen! This is almost all bone-free. Here, you can enjoy a soup dish made with the representative white fish of Taiwan, called Sabahi. There are several types of Sabahi soup alone. The most famous is ‘fish skin soup’ made with fish skin, but on this day, I personally ordered my favorite, ‘milkfish belly soup.’ After having breakfast, I was planning to head straight to sightseeing, but I found ‘Anping Douhua’ along the way and stopped by. That day, I chose the classic red bean and tapioca. I added some shaved ice to it, making it a refreshing dish perfect for summer. Anping Fort was built by the Dutch in the 17th century. It is one of the oldest castles in Taiwan. The history here is somewhat similar to that of Nagasaki. In simple terms, it is said that Europeans who came during the Age of Exploration built a castle here. At that time, it was called ‘Fort Zeelandia’ and was used as a base for trade and military operations. Today, the red brick walls and observation tower remain, making it a representative tourist spot in Tainan. When you climb up, you can enjoy a view of the streets and port of Anping while feeling the history of the place. Within walking distance of Anping Fort, there are the ruins of the ‘Western Trading Company’ that were used for foreign trade at that time. Some places are now open as tourist facilities, while others have been renovated into souvenir shops. Among them, ‘Anping Tree House,’ located very close to ‘Deji Trading Company,’ is particularly popular. This was originally a warehouse for Deji Trading Company and was used until the Japanese era, but after the war, it was utilized as a warehouse for Taiwan’s state-owned salt production and was left abandoned for more than half a century. (Maybe this is my first time here.) The roof is covered with wood. The banyan trees have enveloped the entire building, giving it a ruined appearance. Its unusual exterior and mysterious atmosphere have made it a popular spot for many tourists. The sightseeing in the Anping area can be done in about half a day. After that, we used a rental electric bike to return to Tainan city. During this trip to Tainan, my wife, who is from Taipei, had a restaurant she had always wanted to try. That is ‘Dandan Hamburger.’ It is a local fast food chain exclusive to southern Taiwan. It is only found in Tainan, Kaohsiung, and Pingtung, and my wife from Taipei has never eaten there before. It’s fast food, but in addition to hamburgers, they also offer local dishes that are characteristic of Taiwan. There are set menus, and on this day, I ordered ‘Red Meat Soup’ and ‘Crispy Fried Chicken’. The ‘Red Meat Soup’ is somewhat similar to noodle soup and has a thick, rich broth. The ‘Crispy Fried Chicken’ has a crunchy skin and is highly recommended. After a fulfilling sightseeing schedule, I headed for a massage on the evening of the second day. There are many massage chain stores in Taiwan, but this time I chose one near the hotel that has very high reviews. I came to the ‘Furo Matsubayashi Foot Bath Tainan Anping Branch’. All plans include a 10-minute foot bath and shoulder massage set. On this day, my husband had a 60-minute full body massage. I had a 60-minute foot reflexology session. While foot massages are often associated with intense pain, the therapist adjusted the pressure, so it was painful but at a tolerable level. They thoroughly treated my feet and calves, and even without using aromatherapy oils, the special massage lotion felt great. On the last night, we went to a somewhat stylish bar. At first glance, it looks like a peculiar place, but it was actually renovated from an old traditional Chinese medicine shop. It’s a super popular bar called ‘Akkan Chūyaku-gyō’. There were many tourists from overseas in the store, and with a drink in hand, conversations naturally flowed, allowing us to have a very enjoyable time. The prices are a bit on the higher side, but the drink menu is very extensive. The unique cocktails made with gin and infused with herbal medicine are especially popular. In the end, we toasted with gin shots together with the bartender, which made for a perfect conclusion. The 2-night, 3-day trip to Taiwan was filled with plenty of soul food. I was truly satisfied after visiting many historical tourist spots. It’s about an hour from Kaohsiung Airport, and easily accessible by Shinkansen from Taoyuan Airport. It’s a place packed with traditional Taiwanese charm and local gourmet food. For those who love Taiwan, if you want to experience a deeper side of Taiwan, how about visiting Tainan at least once? That concludes today’s video. Thank you for watching until the end. See you in the next video. Bye-bye~ I’m heading to Taichung now~ Bye-bye~
