[sub] “공주님들의 기운(?) 받고 갑니다…” 역사, 건축, 책, 노을, 고양이 다 있는 공주 소도시 여행 |슈퍼주니어 예성|예세이 EP.64

Wanna grab a bite? Let’s take a picture. Oh, come on, just one picture. [(Drone)] [Awkwardly failed at raising hands in celebration] Let’s hear some noise… Suwon Samsung. [Talking to the air, even if no one’s listening…] [ART FILM ESSAY / Yessay] Is the drone okay? Looks like it’s working, right? Oh, it’s too hot. I will get all tanned. Ah, it’s hot. [The blazing sun of Gongju]
Wow, that’s crazy. [Absorbing all of Gongju’s sunlight in black]
I think I wore the wrong clothes. I’m here in Gongju, Chungcheongnam-do right now. The fortress you see behind me right now Gongsanseong Fortress in Gongju I’ve come to visit. As for me, traveling Taean, Seosan, Dangjin, Chungcheongnam-do I love going around like this. I think this is my first time in Gongju. Back in the Three Kingdoms Period of our country Gongju is said to have many remnants of Baekje. Everyone. Shall we have a good time in Gongju? Let’s go. [A cafe found to escape the sunlight] [Prime spot with a view of Gongsanseong Fortress] [(Yesung’s staple) / iced vanilla latte] Oh? It’s Cheongyang. When I was a kid playing basketball I played a lot of away games against the Cheongyang team. Back in fifth grade I was quite big like this. My hair was always short like this too. [(Cool guy)] Wow, you were really fit. How could that be an elementary school kid? Yeah, you were muscular. Yeah. Ah, that’s funny. But why did I come to Gongju, you ask? This small city called Gongju [Gongju, one of the Baekje Historic Areas]
is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site. It has such unique characteristics. I think you all might have heard of it too. During the reign of King Muryeong various artistic cultures of Baekje flourished greatly. So back then, they went over to Japan spreading those things abroad. In a way, long before Super Junior should we call it Baekryu instead of Hallyu? Seems like they played a role in spreading Baekryu. It’s nice here. It’d be nice to visit when it’s cooler. When it’s hot, come here and relax like this. It might be fun to observe like this. But about Super Junior they say they’re the King Gwanggaeto the Great of the Hallyu. About King Gwanggaeto the Great iIf I may introduce a bit not sure why we’re suddenly talking about King Gwanggaeto the Great, but [King Gwanggaeto the Great of Hallyu introduces the original King Gwanggaeto the Great]
during the Goguryeo period, he expanded the land massively to the north. He was an amazing person. If Goguryeo didn’t just expand northward but had quickly unified the Three Kingdoms and launched a northern expedition there’s talk that our country’s territory could have been much larger. And as for me, my ancestor was a king of Gaya. He loved art and literature. Because I’m a descendant of King Suro. [A well-documented Gaya lineage]
I have no connection to King Gwanggaeto the Great. And then if you go back seven generations General Kim Yushin is my ancestor. And more recently, there’s General Kim Jwa-jin. [(Workout complete)]
And I have a relative, Jong-kook. [(Another Gaya descendant?)]
Anyway Gaya. [The sorrow of the Gaya people]
It’s frustrating that Gaya disappeared so quickly. [No]
Didn’t Gaya get absorbed by Baekje? [That’s correct]
Or was it absorbed by Silla? Back then, Silla didn’t unify on its own power. They borrowed power from the north. In a way, it was quite strategic. [An unexpected turn to the Three Kingdoms Period talk]
You must have been really diligent in history class. Was I? I told you, my specialty is memory. It’s just that I can’t remember things related to studying. Because I was always daydreaming. But as I recall wasn’t the peak of Baekje during King Geunchogo’s reign? It’s been ages since I heard about King Geunchogo. [A famous figure from Baekje]
Yeah, King Geunchogo is famous, right? The most famous person from Silla is [Our ancestor]
General Kim Yushin, right? Who were the famous figures from Silla? Queen Seondeok. [The sudden debate over famous figures from Silla]
Oh, Queen Seondeok. She’s the most famous. Look, General Kim Yushin. He’s from Silla, right? He’s my ancestor, you know. There’s that story about Kim Yushin’s rival, General Gyebaek, right? [A general from Baekje]
Gyebaek ultimately lost, didn’t he? When General Gyebaek was around, it was during King Uija’s time, right? Gyebaek fought bravely on his own. Originally, Baekje was more prosperous than Silla. While King Uija was busy indulging in wine and women the country fell into chaos. In the end, didn’t Silla absorb it? [Back to Goguryeo in the Three Kingdoms Period talk]
Isn’t he called King Jangsu because he lived so long? Right? Living into your eighties back then was something else. [Not a joke]
As far as I know, that’s why he’s called King Jangsu. The characters in King Jangsu’s name really mean ‘longevity.’ [My memory is on point]
Right? They say he lived to be 98 years old. [1500 years ago?]
98 years old? No way. [It’s widely accepted that he had no illnesses]
He lived to 100 years old back then? That’s like living to 150 years old today. No way. [Where are we heading next with this vibe?] [Gongju National Museum / A museum where you can take in the history of Gongju at a glance, including its time as the capital of ‘Ungjin’ during the Baekje era] It’s absolutely massive. Right in front of us, there’s a Buddha statue. I believe Baekje had a strong Buddhist influence too. But back in those days didn’t all three kingdoms have a strong Buddhist influence? [Naturally showcasing detailed memory] [Students in school uniforms visible outside the window] They look like students, and it’s just wonderful. They’re here to see the exhibition with their friends. Why didn’t I think of doing that back then? [Gongju National Museum Ungjin Baekje Room / A space exhibiting the coffins of the king and queen and major artifacts excavated from the Tomb of King Muryeong] That’s right, among the tombs from the Three Kingdoms Period, the Tomb of King Muryeong is the only royal tomb where we can identify the owner, so it got more famous. They say it was because of this epitaph stone. This epitaph stone records personal details about the deceased. It’s like a stone signpost. [The year of the death of King Muryeong’s queen]
The year of fire horse, 526 AD, wow, that’s really ancient. When they discovered the royal tomb… Wow, it wasn’t that long ago, seeing as there’s video footage. [July 1971, footage from the excavation of the Tomb of King Muryeong / The discovery of a nearly intact royal tomb after 1400 years was a major event in archaeology at the time] Wow, was it really this lavish? This is a national treasure too. It’s a coffin ornament. Wow, that’s impressive. Wow, the wood hasn’t decayed like this? Wow, I’d love to lie down in there just once. The queen’s coffin is better preserved. What kind of wood is it, I wonder? Japanese Cedar that grows in Japan. So, Japan and Baekje had a lot of exchanges back then. It’s significant as evidence too. Japanese Cedar. Wow, this is a national treasure. Why are there so many national treasures here? The preservation is really good, isn’t it? That’s right. It’s very detailed. It’s an earring, right? Wow, this is a national treasure too. There are really a lot of national treasures. Wow, everything’s a national treasure, this is a national treasure too. Wow, national treasure earrings. It’s really ornate, but it must have been really heavy. It must have hung down to here. It’s so impressive. This is pure gold, 100% pure gold. The color hasn’t changed at all. I’m really curious about the knowledge level of people back then. Their IQ might have been only around 70-80. (As time goes by) it develops gradually. I’m curious. But when you see things like this being made maybe it wasn’t as low as I thought. With this level of technology, they influenced Japan at the time. Truly. It’s definitely impressive. And I’m curious about who made those accessories back in that era. The person who made those accessories shouldn’t they be someone we admire? Anyway, back in the days of Baekje the people who made what are now national treasures moved to Japan and there is evidence of cultural exchange, they say. If you had the insight back then, of course wouldn’t they have embraced that technology and culture? That’s what I thought. They truly deserve to be national treasures. [Gonggu Jemincheon / A stream in Gongju’s old city center, surrounded by modern architecture over 100 years old] [Gongju First Church / The church where Yu Gwan-sun nurtured her patriotic faith and a central site of the 1919 March 1st Movement in the Chungcheong Province area] [Old Gongju Town Office / A Western-style building constructed in 1923, used as the Gongju Town Office and Gongju City Hall] [Old Missionary House in Jungak-dong, Gongju / The first Western-style residential building in Gongju, built in the early 1900s, a cradle for local talent and independence activists] This cathedral is the first in the Gongju area a Gothic Style building from the 1930s. [Gongju Jungdong Cathedral / The first Catholic cathedral in Gongju, built in the Gothic architectural style of the Western Middle Ages] I’ve been attending this cathedral for a long time. Confirmation and basic baptism. I’ve received both. So, what’s your baptismal name? Antonio. What’s the meaning behind it? I don’t know. Because it sounds impressive? I didn’t choose it, actually. I was really young back then. Was I in the first year of middle school? Since we’re at the cathedral, do you have anything to confess? No, I don’t. Really, I don’t. But today is August 1st and I feel like I’ve had quite a few of those moments recently. Things I haven’t said actions I haven’t taken they call those rumors. Being misunderstood? Being misunderstood? It’s been happening subtly for a few years now. If I live honestly, it’ll all prove itself in the end. Even though it’s tough at the moment if you just live confidently, there’ll come a time when people recognize you. I’m working so hard but it feels like nothing’s changing, like I’m stuck. Whenever I feel that way if I keep a strong mindset I’m sure you’ll have your moments to prove yourself. Good things will happen, right? [(Browsing Map App favorites)] I haven’t eaten yet. This is your first meal of the day? How about we go to ‘Beijing Sweet and Sour Pork’? Beijing Sweet and Sour Pork is probably closed now. Darn it. [(Kimchi Cheese Sweet and Sour Pork)]
I’ve tried the Kimchi Cheese Sweet and Sour Pork there. It wasn’t bad. Wow, a lot of places are closed today. Is today some special day? [Yessay Team’s lunch before Yesung arrived / (Chestnut Beef Tartare Bibimbap)]
The lunch I had was delicious. [guerrilla mission – Find something tastier than this] ‘Four Seasons Set’ seems nice and clean. It’s a kongguksu specialty place, is that okay? [Hit the mark of the team right away] Let’s go, keep it simple. So, is Yesung leading us? Alright. [Following Yesung to dinner] This neighborhood is cute. I like neighborhoods like this. [Walking deliberately next to Jemincheon] [Cement floor setting] [Pass by with extreme caution] [But I want to tease the Yessay team] [Should’ve stepped on it…]
Oh, what a shame. Wow, what is this? It’s pink. Whoa, it’s really that pink? That’s crazy. [As expected, Pink Magic] I’ve never seen a color like that before. I’ve never seen anything so pink before, seriously. This way, to the right. Wow, there are no people, it’s great. Low population density. Should I move to the countryside later? It’s not hot at all, it’s so nice right now. This neighborhood is cute too. We’re almost there. [Soft Bat Surprise] Oh, you scared me. [Cat Ye becomes gentle upon realizing it’s a cat]
Oh, no. No, no, it’s okay, come here. Alright. Why? What do you need? Why, what’s the problem? Why? [Why is the cat so gentle] Why, what is it? Nice to meet you. Why are you so cute? Why so cute? Why are you so adorable? [Cat starting a tour] So playful, what is this? Is this one really a stray cat? I think we should take it with us. It’s going to each person one by one. So, who’s next on your list? Looks like it’s itchy. It’s scratching. That could be it. It might have a skin condition from the heat. Its teeth are clean too. [Rubbing its scent on the Director in a state of bliss] Hey, we have to go now. If you follow me, I’ll take you with me. It’s just a little kitten. It doesn’t know fear yet. Take care. [Gongju’s Kitty’s trait – lets people leave coolly] [It’s disappointing that the cat doesn’t follow…] Bye-bye. Bye. But the sun is definitely setting fast. We’ve arrived. Let’s get inside quickly. [Camera OFF for a comfortable meal] [(Checking Map App favorites again)] We had a quick meal too. We’ve walked by the stream, watched the sunset, done it all. [On the way to a bookmarked place in Gongju] Ah, it’s so cool now that it’s night. [A deserted walking path]
Ah, this is so nice. Here we are. Is there a cat around? [Attempting to unlock the lock boldly] [No misunderstanding! A customer should unlock the door to enter the Unmanned Bookstore] Let’s go. [First, take a photo to document the visit] [A space filled with books and traces of memories] [Write in the guestbook before you forget] A book? Earlier, “Life of Pi.” Saw “Life of Pi” and “Empire of the Ants.” What else is there? Read Shakespeare back in the day. Read it in book form. Do you know what the titles of Shakespeare’s Four Great Tragedies are? “Othello.” What else was there? I can’t remember. “King Lear” “Hamlet.” Is that right? Oh, “Macbeth.” I’ve seen “Macbeth” too. [Are there any other books I’ve read?] I really enjoyed “Tuesdays with Morrie.” I recommend it to all of you. I found it really enjoyable. Let’s not waste our Tuesdays. “Kim Ji-young, Born 1982.” I watched it as a movie. I’ve seen “Jane Eyre.” This person, really… There’s a book with such a title to your left. Sung Suk-je’s novel is fun. Oh, really? Yes, he’s a modern novelist known for writing satire. This book is really good, Bertrand Russell’s “The Conquest of Happiness.” [American NBA basketball player]
I’m like Russell Westbrook. [American NBA basketball player 222]
D’Angelo Russell [Movie actor]
Russell Crowe Please, can’t you read “One Hundred Years of Solitude” by Marquez? It’s about a man born with a pig’s tail. It’s like a Sun Wukong style, isn’t it? Marquez [I should buy it and read it] There’s a simple piece of writing by someone. ‘Wouldn’t it be great if life went according to plan’ Realistically speaking. ‘Princesses Yumin, Sumin came and went.’ I wish you happiness. [The experience of being a radio DJ in the past] ‘There’s no day older than today, so let’s soar.’ That’s a good saying. ‘I constantly self-censor.’ ‘As I became freer, the responsibility grew bigger.’ ‘But I don’t think I’ll be afraid.’ ‘When I find myself enjoying unexpected situations.’ ‘I feel like praising myself.’ ‘I am my own greatest ally.’ Right. It was about a year and a half ago. I wonder how things are now. Let’s leave something behind before we go. I’m not covering up someone else’s writing. Let’s go. After being in such a bustling place, coming to a quiet one I feel more relaxed. We talked about history after a long time. You might have felt a bit awkward, but once we started talking, it was enjoyable. What will I do with the history I’ve learned? But suddenly I recall things I learned as a child. Was I taught that to talk like this? Today was very special. I enjoyed it, and I really liked Gongju. If you have time, visit this place rich in Baekje’s art, culture, and spirit where only the princesses live. It would be great if you all visit Gongju. I’m leaving with the positive energy from the princesses. Fighting. [ART FILM ESSAY / Yessay] Hello there. How about treating me to a coffee? I really didn’t expect you to come. I’ll buy it for you. [A surprise visit from Gongju Yeble]
I just came from work. Oh, really? Alright, I’ll get it for you. I came from work, and I brought my younger sibling along. I mentioned it on Bubble I said, “If you greet me when we meet, I’ll buy you coffee.” And she actually showed up. I’ll buy it for you and your sibling. Oh, really? Thank you. Go ahead, make your choice. Wow, I didn’t expect to see Yeble in Gongju. If you see me, don’t be a stranger. I’ll buy you coffee if we meet at a café. Take care. Thank you. [Leaving shyly after receiving a reverse tribute] [After filming ended] How about a cup of coffee? [The generous residents of Gongju offering coffee] I’m in a rush, so we’ll have to take the coffee to go. I’ll have an iced vanilla latte. How about I add some ice cream to that? Oh, that sounds great. [The little kid nearby]
Ice cream. Is the ice cream tasty? Would you like some? Let’s take a picture together, kiddo. [For kids only – Begs the child to take a picture] Hey, let’s just take one picture, okay? [A hard-earned photo opportunity with the little friend] Thank you, I’ll enjoy it. I’m heading out, thanks for all your hard work. Oh, can I just get a handshake? Ah, sure. [The warm welcome from the residents of Gongju] [I’ll be sure to visit Gongju again]

  7. This video made me extra happy today, seeing oppa like a kid happy to have ice cream added on his vanilla latte, begging a kid for picture together and being so warm to residents in Gongju. A nice heart warming touch to the video. Im so proud to be a cloud elf and a yeble ☁️ I believe yessay team also know how to capture the best parts of oppa and his little kid side. Kudos to the team once again😊

    Yesung

  12. Aww, thanks for the subtitles! This episode is my favorite so far. 💚

It’s my first time hearing about Gongju — such a simple, quiet, and beautiful place, even more charming than Jeju or Nami. The cathedral really amazed me; if I were still Catholic, I’d want to get married there. And if I ever go to Korea, I’ll definitely put Gongju on my list to visit. 😉

Also, the Mitch Albom book Yesung recommended is one of my favorites too. I read it back in 2009 during one of the toughest times of my life. If Morrie had Tuesdays, Yesung has Wednesdays. 🤓

And the cat! 😸 I noticed Yesung is into cats lately — that’s wonderful, because cats are truly the best therapists in disguise. 🐈‍⬛

Thanks again for the inspiring content. Wishing you all the best always! 🌷

  13. another great work & story from a great man and his team. amazing all of you. the video quality was superb.
