日韓フェリー最新船!新就航の大阪~韓国釜山17時間クルーズ船旅|豪華客席&最安相部屋を体験

My very first solo trip abroad! I took a newly launched Japan–Korea international ferry to Korea. This time I’m taking the PanStar Cruise ferry to Busan, Korea. From Cosmosquare Subway Station, I board the dedicated shuttle bus. Going alone to a country where I don’t speak the language is pretty nerve-wracking… Arrived at the Osaka International Ferry Terminal. From this terminal, international ferries operate to Busan, Korea and to Shanghai, China. The ferry I’m boarding today is the PanStar Miracle. It’s a new ship that entered service on April 14, 2025. Check-in starts from 15:00. There was a limited-time special gift at the front desk. When I opened it, there was a postcard with a drawing of Busan’s cityscape. Now heading up to the 3rd floor where the waiting lounge is. This terminal was designed by the architect Tadao Ando. Whoa! Such an open, airy feel! And right in front of me is the PanStar Miracle we’ll be boarding. The PanStar Miracle is a scheduled international ferry connecting Busan, Korea and Osaka. Although it can carry cars and trucks, the ship is outfitted like a cruise liner with a casino, restaurants, and more. There are dedicated areas for Royal Room and Balcony class guests. I’m using PanStar’s official round-trip package that includes a hotel. What they handed out was an immigration declaration form. And happily, this package included round-trip tickets for the Songdo Cable Car! (Limited time offer) The boarding pass shows your room number and the PIN code to open the door. All set and ready to go! This time I brought 65,000 won in cash. To avoid any money troubles, I decided to bring a bit more than usual to Korea. When it’s time to board, Balcony and Royal Room passengers are guided first. It’s finally time to board! I’m told it’s busier than usual today because of a group tour. Whoaaa!!! So cool! PanStar Cruise’s concept is “isola fantasia,” a fantasy island on the sea. In a dreamy, star-filled space, you can enjoy a variety of content. Wow, this feels more like a cruise ship than a ferry! They even offer a welcome drink at the entrance. Yep. That’s wine! Elegant live piano music fills the ship. And what surprised me most—this waterfall shower! My inside cabin is Room 625. It’s a semi-private four-berth room, and during busy times you share. But today, it’s just me. A private room all to myself! I can’t believe I get this whole room—so lucky! You can choose whichever bed you like. They’re bunk beds, and there’s shoe storage under the ladder. In the center space there’s a kettle and a phone that connects to the front desk. Next to the beds there are lockers for each person. Inside are disposable slippers and hangers. The lockers have electronic locks, so security feels safe. What surprised me is that the room has a sink and a toilet. It’s a curious room that combines the charm of both ferry and cruise ship. The fridge had four bottles of mineral water. There’s even a mirror with lights that change color—fun! On the table are a daily schedule and a ship guide. They’re written in Japanese, Korean, and English—very considerate. Since it’s crowded today, dinner is served in two seatings. One thing to note: in Korea, the outlet shape is different. Bring an SE-type or multi-type adapter for peace of mind. You can also watch TV in the room. And you can check the current position of the ferry. The floors are cleaned by a large robot vacuum. You’ll see these little guys all over the ship. There’s still time before departure, so let’s head downstairs. I’ll try registering my credit card on the machine at the front desk. Once registered, you can conveniently pay by QR code at the shop and café. They told me to use a VISA card, but for some reason I can’t get it to register at all… While I was struggling with the machine—wait, has the ferry already departed!? It’s still 15 minutes before the scheduled departure!! Tears I didn’t get to film the departure, but it’s fun seeing buildings that I don’t normally see. !! Could that be… guntû is here!!!! It really is a hotel that moves. Things cruise ships have that ferries don’t— Jacuzzis!!! The water temperature is perfect. On the other side, there’s also a pool. I brought my swimsuit this time, so I’m going in. There are shower rooms on the terrace, too. YouTuber Onoda said the sea is calm when departing Osaka, so it’s best to use the pool early. The pool is shallow, so it’s safe for kids. There’s also a lifeguard nearby. With the motion of the waves, it’s super fun! After playing in the pool, time for the jacuzzi. This is heavenly. There’s a SNACK COURT, but it doesn’t seem to be open today. The PanStar Miracle travels at about 46 km/h. So the wind is quite strong. On the rooftop there aren’t just benches; there are various types of seats. My favorite is the table with a wind shield. The wind is many times stronger than you’d imagine, so these tables are a real lifesaver. We pass under the familiar Akashi Kaikyō Bridge. As you approach the bridge, there’s an onboard announcement, so you won’t miss it. Now at the onboard shop. Cash isn’t accepted on the ship; payments are by credit card only. There are hardly any Japanese products—it already feels like Korea just from the shop. Is this area for tobacco? They also sell lots of Japanese alcoholic beverages. It’s an unmanned shop, so you can buy things 24 hours a day. I can’t read Korean on the drinks, so I have no idea what’s in them. There are a few Japanese alcoholic drinks as well. Are these amenities? There are no toothbrushes in the rooms, so bring one or buy it here. Since I’m here, I’ll try buying some potato chips. You check out at a self-service register. I’m nervous… Since I couldn’t register my credit card to the QR system earlier, I’m worried it won’t work. I can’t read the text, so I’m just pressing buttons by feel. Huh? What’s this?? No receipt came out—did I mess up? Looking closely, there’s a button to switch to Japanese. Phew! Success this time! By the way, there are free water dispensers in the corridors. There’s also a kids’ room that children will love. They have video games and lots of toys. 18:50—finally dinner time. On this ferry, dinner and breakfast are included for all passengers. Wow—so many people. Meals are buffet-style for both breakfast and dinner. Whoa!!! These dishes are all new to me! Even the aroma wafting through the restaurant feels exotic. Speaking of Korea—kimchi, of course. There are three kinds! There’s samgyeopsal and japchae, and lots of other dishes I don’t recognize. Since I’m here, I want to sample as many different items as I can. This is Korean-style oden! What’s this one? Soft drinks and coffee are all-you-can-drink. You can also order alcohol for an extra charge. This area is for salads and fruit. What is that?? I checked online—it seems to be “gyongdan (경단),” a traditional Korean rice cake sweet. This dish is new to me too. There’s another one I couldn’t find online—if anyone knows, please tell me. And here’s tonight’s dinner! The flavors are ones I’ve never really had in Japan. For someone like me who isn’t used to traveling abroad, some tastes were a bit strong or spicy with chili, but overall it was delicious. I mean, getting all this “included” is such a great deal! The ship is cruise-spec inside, so there’s a casino, too. There are also jumbo plushies you don’t see in Japan. I’d be happy if I won one, but carrying it might be a pain. All the games can be played with a credit card. It’s totally cashless—convenient. Now the problem is… how do you play? I don’t really understand the rules… Ah, so you have to push at just the right timing to win. If you succeed, you get a plushie. There’s also a stylish game bar. Besides the game area, there’s a section where you can enjoy casino games. You can play blackjack and roulette. At 21:15, the Miracle Performance is held in the restaurant venue. It opens with a commemorative ceremony video for the route’s inauguration on the big screen. Whoa—lots of people have gathered. Wait… it’s a live show! My pre-trip research said there would be a karaoke contest, but it was nothing like that in reality. You can’t skip “Gangnam Style.” The songs were bright and upbeat—just watching made me happy. If you want a quieter voyage, I recommend the VIP lounge. Normally it’s for Balcony Suite class and above, but until 0:00 I was allowed in too. Balcony Suite and above get free drinks; below that it’s paid. I splurged and tried to order a beer, but it was sold out. I wasn’t sure about the other alcohols and got a bit intimidated, so I ended up getting a cola. Still, I’m happy I managed to order properly here. When lights-out time comes, the atmosphere on the ship changes completely. There were duty-free items on display at the entrance. They’re just left out like this—isn’t there a risk of shoplifting? I’ll fill out the immigration declaration form to prepare for tomorrow. Tomorrow, Korea at last! Back to the room—time for a shower. There’s conditioner, body wash, and shampoo—very comfortable. There’s also a super stylish hair dryer in the room. It’s powerful and really nice to use. What’s great is the Wi-Fi works smoothly in the room. YouTube streams fine—the internet environment is excellent. I can even play PokéPoké. At the entrance are switches for the entry light and the main light. The room also has temperature controls. I’ll get some sleep for tomorrow. Good night… Good morning. Day two. It seems the President of Korea is visiting Japan today. So, where are we now… We’re sailing off Tsushima Island, Nagasaki Prefecture. It’s windy again today! Time for breakfast. Huh! What kind of rice is this!? Breakfast has items similar to Japan, but there are still dishes I’ve never seen before. Kimchi, even in the morning! There’s Korean seaweed too—super luxurious breakfast. Bananas and macarons, and lychees and green apples with a striking appearance. And what’s this soup? Drinks are apple juice and orange juice. There’s also bread and waffles—a wide variety. By the way, the seaside seats are only for suite guests. So here’s my breakfast. I heard Korean “purple rice” is typically made with black rice. Tasty! It’s rich in anthocyanins and said to be good for beauty, so it’s very popular in Korea. We’ll be disembarking in about an hour, so I’ll power on my Wi-Fi router. Global WiFi, the market leader, is 5% off with a PanStar Cruise official booking, so I chose that. It’s my first solo trip abroad—I can’t afford phone troubles! And I’m scared of getting a huge bill later… Korea is in sight! Busan is Korea’s second-largest city after the capital, Seoul, and the country’s biggest port city. We pass under the Busan Harbor Bridge. Opened in 2014, the bridge is 3,368 meters long. I thought I heard the horn for docking, but it was a warning horn for entering a restricted area. At 10:00 a.m., the PanStar Miracle entered Busan Port right on schedule. I was going to take the elevator with my suitcase, but a big cleaning machine was blocking the way… There are so many people—are inside-cabin passengers supposed to use the stairs? A lot happened right to the end, but I really liked PanStar Cruise! The front desk staff speak Japanese, meals are included, I got a room to myself—it was truly comfortable. I’ve finally arrived in Korea! Next time I’ll share my trip around Korea. Thanks so much for watching until the end.

  2. I'm surprised how popular they are considering it's just a 2 hr flight that's around 16k yen round trip from Osaka. But it looks like fun.

  4. Great trip, it's great you try this ferry, even more special, you got brand new fleet of ferry. Also it's great to mention this is first time you are doing solo traveling abroad. Your room definitely upgraded version of capsule sharing room since it has own toilet and shower. Korean people love spicy food, so that's why there's plenty of spicy food on buffet. And yeah, since it's Korean Ferry Company, it's not surprising the shop providing more Korean goods and only few Japanese good onboard. Even though you failed registered your Credit Card, but at least your transaction with Credit Card is accepted onboard. Can't wait for your adventure on South Korea.
