【凸峰運轉】停運14年終于被刀郎「喚醒」的2路汽車,妳確定不來坐坐?繞烏魯木齊壹圈、覽盡精彩邊城! – Welcome to Urumqi Bus No. 2

This is the Route 2 bus from Linyi, Shandong! And this is the Route 2 bus from Urumqi! They both stop at the same bus stop called “Eighth Floor. ” Their presence is due to one song: “The First Snow of 2002.” Some say it’s not a good song, but I don’t believe it! How could a bad song have such magical power?! In Xinjiang, “The First Snow of 2002” is incredibly popular. If you could sing karaoke in the car, it would probably go something like this: It’s these lyrics that made Route 2 a hit, made “Eighth Floor” a hit, and ultimately resurrected the Route 2 bus after 14 years of absence! (Route 2 bus parked at a charging station!…) So, I headed to Urumqi to experience this magical bus ride for the whole journey! Hey, to-fun! Current location: Xinjiang, Urumqi, Grand Bazaar! This is the Urumqi Grand Bazaar bus stop. Our brand-new Route 2 loop bus (opening April 20, 2025) has a stop right here, at the Xinjiang International Grand Bazaar. Today, we’ll depart from the Xinjiang International Grand Bazaar and take the Urumqi “Route 2” bus for a city circuit! The “Route 2” bus departs from Santunbei and (inner loop) passes South Park, Heping Bridge, Hongshan, the Museum, the Eighth Floor, South Lake, North Gate, Renguang Square, South Gate, and the Grand Bazaar, returning to Santunbei. They say you’re not a true man if you haven’t visited the Great Wall. If you come to Urumqi, don’t take Route 2… [What a shame!] At 9:43 Beijing time, this Route 2 loop departed the Grand Bazaar. The loop takes nearly two hours, and the fare is only one yuan! (Terminal: Scan code successful) The Route 2 loop is Urumqi Bus’s bold attempt at a “cultural and tourism-themed bus route.” Inside the bus, the pull tabs are filled with “city hallmarks,” creating a vibrant atmosphere. This bus itself has become a “floating cultural symbol,” awakening the city’s memories, connecting cultural and tourist hotspots, and offering a comprehensive tour of the border town. (Stop announcements: Please secure your belongings when getting on and off the bus.) After boarding the Grand Bazaar, we’ll take a short ride to the Santunbei terminus, then cross Tuanjie Road and stop two more stops. It should only take ten minutes at most! But… (Driver: Tuanjie Road is under construction. They’re digging up the sides and the middle…) At Tuanjie Bridge, we waited for a full 20 minutes, seven red lights, and still couldn’t get through. As soon as the light turned green, the cars turning left on the opposite side cut in like crazy. (Hey, friend, you’re cutting in, I can’t. It’s been 20 minutes, and we haven’t moved a muscle!) Hey! Friend, what do you mean (forcing your way?)? (Introduction: The Water Park, built in 1987, was once a childhood memory for countless Urumqi residents…) The Route 2 loop bus features a self-guided tour guide throughout, with announcements at each stop introducing the attractions and special features along the way . (Stop announcement: “Welcome to the self-service ticketless bus Route 2 again…” (At this point, the bus has arrived at Santunbei Station, the terminus of the loop bus.)) At 10:12, we arrived at Santunbei, the only terminus of the Route 2 loop bus. If you want to continue around the city, you need to get off at the bus hub next to the Water Park . This bus station feels quite desolate! Urumqi’s “Ring Route 2” runs in an inner (clockwise) and outer (counterclockwise) loop. The inner loop runs from the Grand Bazaar to Santunbei, then on to South Park, Heping Bridge, Hongshan, and the Eighth Floor. (Driver: Which stop?) Ah, South Park… (Driver: Oh, then you should take my car.) Okay, it’s the same driver again!! Why is Urumqi so congested? (Driver: That’s the section! They’re repairing the road these past two days! Look, I’m about to leave when I get to the terminal. I don’t even have time to eat, go to the bathroom, and then continue on my way…) At 10:24, the “Ring Route 2” leaves Santunbei, heading for the Eighth Floor! [This line is a loop line] (Driver: Route 2 loop line, the whole distance is more than 20 kilometers, and it takes 100-110 minutes to drive one circle!) Starting from Santunbei, the next stop is South Park . “Parks” in the urban area of Urumqi can be said to be densely distributed: South Park, People’s Park, Yan’an Park, Hongshan Park (Uncle Alibaba: Urumqi~~~Ah! What a beautiful place!!) (Station announcement: Please keep your personal belongings safe when getting on and off the bus) (Driver: Please walk inside when you get on the bus, please sit down when you get on the bus…) (Announcement: Dear passengers! The next stop is Heping Bridge Station. This bus stop has a long history…) Accompanied by the melody of “Rakshasa Haishi”, the broadcast began to introduce the next stop “Heping Bridge”. At this time, our Route 2 bus left Xinhua South Road, crossed the Hetan Expressway and headed towards Cangfanggou North Road. Below is the “Hetan Expressway” (Hetan Road)! (Driver: Yes!) In the 1960s, the Ulabao Reservoir was built in the southern suburbs of Urumqi. After the reservoir was filled with water, the riverbed flowing through the urban area of Urumqi began to dry up, so the “River Beach Road” was built using the old riverbed. Hey, driver, I heard that Route 2 existed before, right? (Driver: Yes! The old Route 2 runs from north to south, from the South Railway Station to the Machinery Factory) “Route 2” used to be the “old classic route” of Urumqi Public Transportation, starting from Urumqi Railway Station in the south and ending at the Machinery Factory in the north. The line is 16 kilometers long. It was opened in 1939 and ran for 72 years until it was discontinued. It used models such as Jinghua, Huanghai, and Ankai. In 2011, Urumqi BRT Line 1 was opened for operation, and the repeated routes were optimized and adjusted, including “discontinuing Route 2 buses” (Driver: In principle, the old Route 2 is still there. It is the current BRT Line 1. It still runs from the South Railway Station to the Machinery Factory…) The old Route 2 is indeed “still there”. It is the “bus artery” that runs through the north and south of Urumqi city: BRT Line 1. We ‘re still on the route from the South Railway Station to the Machinery Factory (Driver: “That’s the new Route 2, the cultural and tourism line. We stop at various scenic spots and attractions along the way, circling the city, primarily around the Old Town… “). But the “Route 2 Loop” we’re taking is the “Route 2 Imprint City Tour Special Line,” which resumed service on April 20th of this year. This “Route 2” bus goes not only to the Eighth Floor and the Grand Bazaar, but also to the train station! The loop takes in nearly all of Urumqi’s popular business districts and attractions! (Tour guide: “(Hetian Second Street, near the station) has bright, juicy pigeon soup and a variety of sweet and delicious pastries…”) The newly launched “Route 2 Loop” bus, operated by the Public Transport Group’s Operations Department Six and the Premium Fleet One, is dedicated to serving citizens and tourists and is a carefully crafted “city calling card” for Urumqi! Ah, taking a side road! …. (Driver: Yes! Because the road ahead is being repaired) (Driver: (Park North Street) There’s a morning market in the morning!) Ah, if I had known that, I would have bought naan here just now… (Driver: You can buy naan at any store in Urumqi!… They’re everywhere) (Driver: If you had told me earlier, I would have sent you to the small naan shop at the “Qiyi Jiangyuan Bus Station”. Their small naan is delicious and crispy) This small road is Park North Street next to People’s Park (Driver: I see many tourists from the mainland buy naan here, pack it and mail it back to the mainland, but in this case, the naan will easily get moldy!… Because it’s dry here, the naan can be kept here for seven days without any problem) [Can this naan be kept for a week? ? ] Turn right, Yangtze River East Road, here, you can see BRT Line 1, this is the BRT (Bus Rapid Transit)! (Driver: Yes! This is BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) Line 1. To put it bluntly, this is the “Old Route 2” (the old Route 2 bus/South Railway Station to Machinery Factory).) From here, the “Old Route 2” and the “New Route 2” run side by side! This is still a Yutong bus! (Driver: Yes, Yutong buses, Youth buses, several types! They’re all great!) Hey! (Urumqi BRT) Is the “Youth” bus already scrapped? Are you talking about me? (Just then, they encounter a Youth articulated bus) Wow! There’s still a Youth bus! ! Now I’ve captured a complete (Qinnian articulated bus) in action. So, the Urumqi BRT’s Qingnian articulated buses are still around, but local bus enthusiasts say the “Qinnian diesel buses” are no longer in service. This is a CNG Qingnian bus, abbreviated as “Qini” (Neoplan). Continue past the museum, the Central Blood Station, and the Children’s Park. Next stop: Eighth Floor. (Introduction: Dear passengers, next stop: Eighth Floor.) (Introduction: “The No. 2 bus stops on the Eighth Floor,” making the Eighth Floor more well-known…) One and a half hours after departure, turn right from Xinyi Road onto Youhao North Road. This is the “Eighth Floor”! (Stop announcement: Eighth Floor, we’ve arrived. Passengers getting off, please use the back door…) The No. 2 bus stopping on the Eighth Floor doesn’t mean there’s a special elevated bridge leading to the eighth floor just for Route 2. Rather, the bus stop where Route 2 stops is called “Eighth Floor”! It’s this “Eighth Floor” (Kunlun Hotel), right? (Driver: Yes! It’s the Xinjiang Kunlun Hotel!) The “Eighth Floor” refers to the Xinjiang Kunlun Hotel right in front of us. Built in 1959, it stood eight stories tall and was the tallest building in Urumqi at the time. It’s also a landmark in Urumqi, hence the name “Eighth Floor.” Right in front of it is the “Eighth Floor Themed Bus Stop”! (Driver: Yes!) It’s worth noting that even during its 14-year hiatus, the Route 2 bus stop remained at the Eighth Floor bus stop, a testament to the affection Urumqi residents hold for Route 2. The Eighth Floor Themed Bus Stop, built to coincide with the new Route 2 Loop Line, has become a popular photo-op for locals and tourists. Route 2 and the Eighth Floor have become enduring symbols of this city! Since Urumqi’s rail system currently consists of only one subway line (excluding the Airport Express), the city’s bus network, including the BRT, is exceptionally well-developed! Aside from the BRT, Urumqi’s main bus brands can be summarized as: Yutong, Zhongtong, King Long, and Sunlong. Yutong and King Long are arguably the “absolute mainstays” (Driver: “Look, this (Yutong) Yuwei bus has amazing visibility!”… But it also has its flaws). The driver explained that the “small glass” next to the windshields of the Yuwei and King Long buses has a flaw: in Urumqi’s extremely cold winters, the “small glass” fogs up and even freezes, creating a blind spot. (Driver: “It’s that small glass… there’s a blind spot when turning.”) After crossing the “Youhao Bridge,” the “Route 2 Loop” makes a U-turn at Mingyuan West Road and returns to the “Youhao Bridge.” (Driver: “Our bus is originally blue (a blue-painted King Long bus), but we added a “cover” because we have a specially customized bus coming online for our route (the one you see here is temporarily filling in…)) So there are new Route 2 buses coming online? Are the new buses, custom-made for this route, painted entirely in red and white? The driver explained that these Jinlong buses are actually just filling in for the “2nd Loop Line”; the actual buses haven’t arrived yet and are expected to debut before Daolang’s Urumqi concert this year. (Driver: Because there’s a “Daolang National Tour Concert (Urumqi Station)” this October, Daolang fans from all over the country will spontaneously come to Urumqi to see the concert. Because hearing a Daolang concert in Urumqi is truly authentic!… I think, at the very least, these fans will take our Route 2 bus!) Yeah! Of course! After crossing this overpass, we’ll reach Hualing Market. Following the driver’s recommendation, we bought some really cheap local specialties there on our way out of Urumqi! “A basket full!” Freshly arrived Turpan grapes, 4 kilograms—4 kilograms! In a crashproof box, with free packaging, for only 57 yuan. Back on Route 2, leaving Hualing, we’ll reach Nanhu. Continuing south, we’ll stop at Laodong Street and Beimen Station. Next stop: People’s Square. After the driver’s whirlwind tour, I gained a whole new appreciation for Urumqi! As the “Route 2 Loop Bus” circles the city, the Grand Bazaar bus stop appears again. Okay, I’ll get off at this stop! (Driver: Okay, after getting off, we’ll take a stroll.) Okay! Thanks for the guide! … (Driver: No problem!) At 12:03 PM Beijing time, I’m back at the starting point, the International Grand Bazaar. Okay, after 2 hours and 20 minutes, I’ve taken the “Route 2 Loop Bus” around the city and finally arrived at the “Urumqi International Grand Bazaar” ! It’s getting busy now! (The Grand Bazaar opens at 10 AM.) Ah, will you be coming to Daolang’s Urumqi concert in October? …Well, see you in the next video! Oh wait, wait, wait, at the end of the video, which “Route 2 Bus” do you prefer?

“The No. 2 bus parked on the eighth floor” is a line in a Chinese lyric that everyone knows. It refers to the No. 2 bus in Urumqi.

2025年4月,壹輛輛披著「2路傳統塗裝」車衣的金龍純電動客車,駛上街頭,以「2路環線」的番號再次停靠八樓公交站,中斷運營14年的「2路」,回來了!

In April 2025, King Long pure electric buses, each covered in the “Route 2 traditional livery,” hit the streets and once again stopped at the 8th floor bus stop under the number “Route 2 Loop Line.” Route 2, which had been suspended for 14 years, is back!
