The pine trees line the approach to Gotokuji Temple. They are part of the Setagaya region’s landscape. There are a lot of foreign tourists here. It seems that they came here to visit this temple. It was built in 1480. One theory is that it is the birthplace of the beckoning cat. There are a lot of people crowded together. What’s that about? You were photographing a group of beckoning cats. That’s a nice smile. I’ve been photographing the Odakyu Line from Kanagawa, one station at a time, and this was the first time I saw foreign tourists. Apart from Hakone, I guess this is the westernmost of their tourist spots. I wonder if it’s listed in any tourist guide for foreigners. I learned about Gotokuji Temple for the first time during this shoot. I don’t usually get off at local train stations. Is the graveyard zone off-limits? That’s all for today. Thank you for watching. 初夏の光に包まれた東京都世田谷区、静かに歩くと町の奥に眠る記憶がそっと顔を出す。世田谷城跡は1590年に廃城となり、今は空堀跡がわずかに往時の面影を残すばかりだった。特に見るものもなく、足を早めて豪徳寺へ向かう。参道の松並木が初夏の風に揺れ、世田谷地域風景資産として町の歴史を静かに伝えていた。豪徳寺の境内に入れば、外国人観光客の姿が多く、その先に招き猫たちの群れが並び、祈りと笑顔が混ざり合う空気が漂っていた。創建は1480年。一説には招き猫発祥の地とも伝わり、静けさの中に長い年月が積み重なっていた。初夏の陽射しの中、人々の祈りと町の記憶が重なり、歩くたびに都市の奥に残された物語がそっと蘇る旅だった。
