Un viaje de ensueño por Suiza: Lauterbrunnen, Lago Brienz y Giessbachfälle
What’s up? Good morning. Today we’re ready to begin the adventure. We took the tram from home. We stopped quickly at the supermarket. Here we have our breakfast, since yesterday we didn’t buy anything to bring, like a sandwich or anything like that. And now we’re heading to Lauterbrunnen, but we have to take two trains to get there. Right now we’re on the first one going to Bern, and we have to get off in Bern to take the other connection. I’m excited because I’ve never been there by train, only by car once. And let’s see how the experience is. And again, it would be like comparing the Swiss Travel Pass and the Day Pass, which are supposed to all be the same. We’re going to take trains and everything, but also boats, but you’ll see that during the adventure. Bye bye. This was what Joceline chose, which was a butter croissant and I think another croissant, but a different one. They’re two different ones. And I chose a kässebrot bread—I don’t remember if that’s what it’s called, but it’s made with cheese . And another one, apparently, is healthy. I think I’ll eat this one later when I get hungrier. I won’t, though. We’ll see. And my water and a coffee because I forgot. David had bought some for me at home, and I forgot. I’m going to start editing because I’m way behind on videos on social media and YouTube too. A curious fact is that there are many public swimming pools in Switzerland . Some are outdoors like this one, and others are in closed circuits, and the price is quite affordable for what they are. I haven’t been able to take them on video, since filming is prohibited in most of these places. Both the SBB app and Google will tell you where to go to catch the next train when you have a connection, like we did, and you’re trying to hurry to find a seat. Everyone is running around trying not to miss their connection. It’s pretty crowded, isn’t it? Yes, it’s quite full. We had stops. It’s about 20 minutes. This is gate four. There are others there too. I hadn’t seen those. There are other restrooms here too. I don’t think it says so, but they have a QR code. We’ll find out later . Well, they’re also like the others, more or less the same, not the same width, but the same length. A small suitcase will fit. From here you can buy food to go to Murren. It’s very beautiful. We already have videos on the Murren channel and the other one. Lauterbrunen has a very privileged position. Trains or cable cars depart from here to Vegen, Murren, Jungfraujoch, Grindelwald, and Schilthorn, which makes it a destination full of possibilities. There’s literally the supermarket right here at the station. The supermarket is the cool thing about here; there are always supermarkets. It’s even in the smallest towns, but only two brands are the most common. When we came in March, the waterfall was dry, there was nothing, but we only passed by here, we didn’t get there. Have you seen how beautiful the snow-capped mountain looks ? How beautiful. There it is. Wow, how exciting to be here at this time. I’ve been here in May, March, and now in July, almost August. And today is Swiss National Day . Today is a very special day for the Swiss. Well, tomorrow, but today they celebrate it, so yes. How exciting. It’s beautiful. Look. Ah, how beautiful. And peaceful. We’ve already found, like, the first snack around here. They’re the eight sausages. Yes, the water is beautiful. Very delicious. The little heart can be seen wherever you look here. Gorgeous. Lauterbrunen is located in the canton of Bern, specifically in the Bernese Oberland region, very close to Interlaken. It’s a valley surrounded by mountains over 3,000 meters high. It’s known as the valley of the 72 waterfalls, the most famous being Staubbach Falls, which falls from 297 meters high. A tremendous view. It’s enormous. Look, there are other bathrooms here. For the first section. I’m almost fainting. Another interesting fact is that the valley is said to have inspired JR Tolkien to create Rivendell in The Lord of the Rings. But what do you think? I’ll read you in the comments. Personally, if you’re short on time, I don’t recommend this activity, as It gets pretty crowded, and you make your way slowly. The infrastructure isn’t bad, but you need special shoes because the ground can be very slippery with the rocks and water. We spent half an hour here in line; we never made it to the end, and although the views were beautiful, we could have used that time to explore more. And this is roughly how we were standing in line at that point. Yes, it’s very pretty. And that’s the cemetery. It’s already 12 o’clock, that’s why the bells are ringing. Personally, it depends on what kind of traveler you are to decide how much time you can dedicate to this place. If you want a more relaxed approach, you can spend a day here doing different activities and just relaxing. But if you’re more like us, who wanted to explore as much as possible, then spend about two or three hours and then continue on to a nearby destination. We came to COOP to stock up on supplies because we had to eat something before we got on the boat. As always, one of my recommendations is that on your trip, try to shop at the supermarket if you want to save money. You’ll always find a section with different types of salads, breads, sandwiches, a little bit of everything. And if you’re going to buy any of these salads, you also have to buy the cutlery separately. You can ask the cashier for those. And from there we head to the station to catch the next train. Yes. Did you like it or not? Yes. The good thing is Joceline is eating her sandwich. We’re about to get off here, and we’ll have to hurry to see if we can get on the boat because I don’t know where the boat docks here . We have about 20 minutes or so. Here comes the boat. The good thing is that it says “this way” because there’s an icon coming from all of us crossing. We’re going to Brienz. One of the things we’ve discovered throughout these trips we’ve made on our own through Switzerland is that every place is very well signposted. We don’t have to walk that far to get to a cable car, a train, or a boat. So, its infrastructure is very good. Although prices can sometimes be a bit high for transportation, the cost is clearly reflected in the reason. And I want to update you. So far, all the transportation we’ve taken, all the trains, are already included in both passes, meaning we haven’t paid anything extra other than the cost of both passes. Here I have a video on my channel where I explain the difference between the passes. Back here, what you see over there is the station, and you walk, that is, you cross a street, and you’re literally here very quickly. They’re already boarding . To our surprise, we got a very special boat. It’s a paddlewheel steamer. It was built in 1914 and has an 800-horsepower steam engine, still preserved and visible to those of us who boarded it. In the 1950s, it was almost decommissioned, but it was decided to restore it due to its historical value, and today it continues to operate as a floating jewel, declared a Swiss historical monument. You may not get this boat on the day you travel, so you can plan with these route numbers to get it that day. It’s already full here. You can see it. This boat usually only operates during peak season, which is spring, summer, and part of fall. And if you don’t get this one, don’t worry, since most of the boats here are very beautiful and spectacular. To get a really good view or seat, you need to arrive early before the boat departs. For example, here we waited 30 minutes and managed to get one of the first to go. But yes, there’s always that tourist who gets on last and wants you to squeeze in with the others so they can sit and have a privileged view. It’s beautiful. Ah, there are the people up there. That sound reminded me of the Harry Potter movies . This lake is one of the most spectacular and picturesque in Switzerland. It’s also in the canton of Bern, between Interlaken to the west and Brienz to the west. East. The water comes mainly from the Are River, as well as glaciers and mountain streams. It is considered one of the cleanest lakes in Switzerland. It has an altitude of 564 m above sea level, a length of 14 km, and a maximum width of 2.8 km. The maximum depth of this lake is 260 m. You can do various activities on this lake, such as boat trips. You can also rent kayaks, boats, or paddleboards. There are also bathing areas and beaches. Although the water is cold, the people who live here are used to getting in the water and enjoying themselves. You can also go hiking. You can get off at Iseltwald, which is a very popular destination, or, like us, go to Giessbachfälle, an area with an impressive waterfall. To get there, it takes approximately an hour and 10 minutes by boat from the starting point in Interlaken to here . Let’s see how far we can go. Hey, we have a challenge, so we’re going to run in about 20, maybe 10 minutes. Honestly, I don’t think I can do it, but we’ll see. And to reach out and grab something, but here we go , eh, it’s sudden. One, two, three. And I’m tired, I can’t do it anymore, I give up. This waterfall has 14 drops that descend a total of 500 meters to Lake Brienz. It’s considered one of the most spectacular waterfalls in Switzerland, both for its height and its alpine setting. In front of the waterfall is the hotel you saw in some previous shots. It was opened in 1874 and was one of the first luxury hotels in Switzerland. You can do several activities here, and you can also climb up to get different views, but we were short on time. So much so that, despite running hard, in the end, we heard a bit of the kind of Harry Potter-style sound you heard from the ship earlier , and that meant only one thing: that the ship was about to leave. And yes, in the end, some people told us that the ship had just left . It left us. We were so close. Oh, yeah, no. Just one minute. No way. We were left to stay here. And that experience reminded me that no matter how many times we plan to do something or something, no matter how many times we have something in mind, a plan, it often doesn’t turn out the way we think. Sometimes life pushes us, whether for external reasons or our own, to take a break, to enjoy the present. And I won’t deny that at the moment I felt frustrated, a little angry, sad, but at the end of the day, what we can control is how we feel and what we do about it. After a moment, I took a breath and enjoyed that hour, hour and a bit we had to stay extra in that paradise. We’re sorry about the slight delay we’ve been experiencing. This one, plus Lauterbrunnen , changed our itinerary quite a bit. So now it was time to move directly to the next and final point of the day, which is the Swiss Day celebration. I’ll save that for a special video that I ‘ll be uploading in the next few days. So, see you in the next video. Bye bye.
