Lake Towada in Summer (Aomori / Akita Prefecture) Kankodai ( Aomori prefecture ) Lake Towada is a lake that straddles Aomori and Akita prefectures. It is designated as a “Special Place of Scenic Beauty” by the government. Kankodai is located between Nakayama Peninsula and Ogura Peninsula. A scenic viewpoint overlooking the azure lake surface. The area between the two peninsulas is called “Naka Lake” and is the deepest part of the lake at 327m deep. Hakka Pass ( Akita Prefecture ) The Hakka Pass overlooks Lake Towada from the south. The long, narrow Nakayama Peninsula is also clearly visible. Shimeitei Observatory (Akita Prefecture) Shimeitei Observatory is a viewpoint located near Hakka Pass, a hidden gem along the Jukai Line. It offers panoramic views of Lake Towada, including the Nakayama Peninsula and Ogura Peninsula. Ohana-be Mountain Observation Deck (Aomori Prefecture) Ohana-be Mountain is one of the outer rim mountains on the northern shore of Lake Towada. At its summit stands an observation deck offering panoramic views of Lake Towada. Along with Hakka Pass and Kan-ko-dai, it is counted among the “Three Great Viewpoints of Lake Towada.” Both the Ogura Peninsula and Nakayama Peninsula are visible directly ahead. I returned once more to Kan-ko-dai at dusk. Lake Towada is selected as one of “Japan’s 100 Best Sunset Spots.” Lake Towada is a lake where you can fully enjoy nature throughout the four seasons. Statue of Maiden ( Aomori prefecture ) The Maiden Statue is a bronze statue standing on the Nakayama Peninsula of Lake Towada. It is the work of Kotaro Takamura, a poet and sculptor. The statues are a pair of women facing each other with their left hands together. It is a symbol of Lake Towada. Towada Shrine ( Aomori Prefecture ) Towada Shrine is located on the Nakayama Peninsula of Lake Towada. It is about a 10-minute walk from the Maiden Statue. The shrine was built by Tamuramaro Sakanoue to pray for victory over the Emishi invaders. It originated when a shrine was built in honor of Yamato Takeruno Mikoto. Kankodai ( Aomori prefecture ) Kankodai is located between Nakayama Peninsula and Ogura Peninsula. The area between the two peninsulas is called “Naka Lake” and is the deepest part of the lake at 327m deep. Ogura Peninsula The outer rim of the mountain was covered in white snow due to a huge cold wave. Lake Towada at the peak of autumn colors covered with snow This is a rare sight to see. Utarube, Lake Towada ( Aomori Prefecture ) Utarube is a lakeside area located on the east side of the base of the Ogura Peninsula. It is a place where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Ogura Peninsula, the Outer Ring Mountains, and the South Hakkoda Mountains. Campgrounds and guest houses are scattered in the area. Lake Towada Nenokuchi ( Aomori Prefecture ) Nenokuchi is the outlet of the Oirase Stream. It is also famous as a base for sightseeing at Lake Towada. Nenokuchi has been selected as one of the “100 best sunsets in Japan”. The view of the setting sun from the shore of Lake Towada is extraordinary. ■瞰湖台（青森県 / 深緑・紅葉・夕陽）
瞰湖台 (かんこだい) は、十和田湖の御倉（おぐら）半島と中山半島に挟まれた中湖（なかのうみ）を望む展望所で、澄み切った湖面に遊覧船が船跡を残して進む情景が素晴らしいです。
大寒波が押し寄せ、外輪山が真っ白な雪に覆われ、雪に覆われる紅葉最盛期の十和田湖という滅多に見られない光景をお見逃しなく！

■発荷峠（秋田県 / 深緑・紅葉）
「発荷峠（はっかとうげ）」は十和田湖に通じる国道『樹海ライン』にある峠で、十和田湖を標高631mから見下ろす位置にあり、展望台からは十和田湖の外輪山や南八甲田の山々が望め、細長く突き出た中山半島もよく見えます。

■紫明亭展望台 ( 秋田県 / 深緑 )
紫明亭 ( しめいてい ) 展望台は、発荷峠のほど近くにある展望台で「樹海ライン」沿いにある穴場的なスポットです。中山半島や御倉半島など十和田湖を一望できます。

■御鼻部山展望台 ( 青森県 / 深緑 )
御鼻部山 ( おはなべやま ) は、十和田湖の北岸にある外輪山の一つで、山頂には、十和田湖を一望できる展望台があります。発荷峠・瞰湖台と共に「十和田湖三大展望所」といわれ、正面に御倉半島・中山半島の両半島が見えます。

■乙女の像（青森県 / 紅葉）
乙女の像は、十和田湖の中山半島に立つブロンズ像で、詩人で彫刻家である高村光太郎の作品です。互いに左手を合わせる形で向き合う一対の裸婦像で、十和田湖のシンボル的存在です。

■十和田神社（青森県 / 紅葉）
十和田神社は、十和田湖の中山半島に鎮座し、「乙女の像」からも歩いて10分ほどの距離で、静かな森の中にたたずむ拝殿は神秘的な雰囲気です。
坂上田村麿が蝦夷討伐の必勝を祈願して、日本武尊を祀って祠を建てたのが起源で、最近はパワースポットとしても人気があります。

■宇樽部（青森県 / 紅葉）
宇樽部（うたるべ）は、御倉半島の東側にある湖畔で、付近にはキャンプ場や民宿が点在しています。御倉半島や外輪山、南八甲田の山々が一望できる場所です。

■子ノ口（青森県 / 紅葉・夕陽）
子ノ口 (ねのくち) は、奥入瀬渓流の流出口であり、遊覧船発着所など十和田湖の観光拠点の一つとしても有名です。夕陽名所としても知られ、「日本の夕陽百選」に選定されています。
