SUB) 夏の京都旅行vlog🌻カフェ巡り・定番観光・豆腐ランチ・梅酒作り体験・祇園祭・おしゃれブティックホテル宿泊
Hi, I’m YURIE, a travel writer! This time, I went to Kyoto as an ambassador for JR Tokai Tours! I got to visit hotels, cafes, and restaurants I’ve always wanted to try. I used the EX Travel Pack, which includes the bullet train and hotel. It’s cheaper than booking them separately. There’s also a special coupon, so stay tuned! There’s also a special coupon, so stay tuned! It was cloudy that day, so I couldn’t see Mt. Fuji! On clear days, you can see Mt. Fuji between Shin-Yokohama and Nagoya. If you’re in the Green Car, sit in D seat, or in E seat for regular cars. Arrived in Kyoto! It takes about 2.5 hours from Shinagawa. First, check-in at the hotel. I booked Ace Hotel, finally! They even had snacks for dogs. Pet-friendly! The elevator had a dog mark, looked like a Shiba silhouette! I stayed in the Standard King room. Plenty of space for one, and the king bed fits two. The hotel is a renovation of the Kyoto Central Telephone Office from the 1920s. Ace Hotel started in Seattle, became popular after opening in NY. It opened in Kyoto in 2020, designed by Kengo Kuma and Commune Design. The room even had records, with great attention to detail. There was a guitar too! I heard it’s actually a good one. Here’s the bathroom. Happy it has a bathtub! Amenities were from my favorite brand, uka! The closet had bathrobes and luggage racks. There’s a desk, so it’s easy to work a bit. Ace Hotel’s stationery was simple but stylish. The bedside area had tatami, a nice Japanese touch. Let’s check out the shop behind the lobby. These boutique hotels always have cute original goods! They also sell the uka amenities from the room. They even sold records. Heading to a cafe I wanted to visit in Higashiyama. I came to Arabica Coffee in Higashiyama. There are two shops across the street, this one needs reservations. I’d never been to Arabica in Japan before. So happy to finally come to the Kyoto location. It was too hot, so I got an iced latte. Tasted even better in Kyoto (lol). There’s also a corner selling goods inside. These colorful charms are called Kukurizaru. I bought a small one as a souvenir. So cute! Found a ramen shop nearby that opens early. Too hot for heavy ramen, so I had a light one instead (lol). The egg had a seal on it—maybe “good luck ramen”? Simple and delicious. Loved that they had breakfast options! Took the bus to the next stop. Visited Hararyokaku, where I always buy black shichimi. The colorful wrapping makes it a nice gift. Yasaka Shrine was lively with the Gion Festival that day. Since I was nearby, I stopped to pray. I saw a crowd gathering, so I waited a bit. I got to see part of the Gion Festival up close. Turns out, this parade is called Chigo Shasan. Kids wear makeup and Heian-style clothes as “Chigo.” It’s a ritual to pray for safety and success of the festival. Found Traveler’s Factory in ShinPuhKan, next to the hotel! I wanted the airplane charm, but it was sold out! There were stamps for customizing notebooks too. So cute! Looked like a hotel-style keychain. Arrived at the cafe I wanted to visit! Cafe Kitsuné! Came for the summer shaved ice… But it starts tomorrow! Too bad… So instead, I got a matcha latte. Creamy and so good. Went for an early dinner. This place specializes in ochazuke! Had to wait in line. I ordered the tuna ochazuke. The gentle broth flavor was amazing. It’s right at Kyoto Station, perfect for a quick meal before the train! Today, we joined the ambassador group for a Kyoto day tour. This old restaurant is famous for tofu dishes. We had a full course using tofu. Their chilled oboro tofu is perfect for summer. The yuba sashimi was also excellent. Overall, it was light and healthy. Finished with mozuku seaweed ochazuke. I love mozuku—so happy! After lunch, we tried making umeshu (plum wine). Speaking of umeshu, CHOYA—it’s written as 蝶矢 in kanji, didn’t know that! Staff guided us while we made our own umeshu. They had English instructions too! Seems more tourists than Japanese come here. We did a tasting, then chose plums, sugar, and alcohol! I picked Fukutayu plums, konpeito candy, and gin. First, remove the plum stems. Layer plums and sugar one by one. Finally, pour in the alcohol—done! Seal it, and you can drink it after one month. There’s also a non-alcoholic plum syrup option. Came to a cafe called Rokujyuan in Karasuma Oike. Order at the entrance, then take a seat. The staff gave us a tour while explaining the building’s history. It’s a renovated Taisho-era cultural property. I ordered warabi mochi with matcha. The soft mochi with kinako and kuromitsu was amazing. We could also step out into the garden. Took a break with foot bath and massage. The flower-filled foot bath was so cute! The foot massage refreshed me. That night, we had a gathering at the hotel. Finally, let me share details of the JR Tokai Tours package. This time I used the EX Travel Pack, which bundles the bullet train and hotel. It’s cheaper than booking them separately. I used it and could change train times online—super convenient. If you’re planning a trip with the shinkansen, definitely check it out! Thanks for watching my Kyoto vlog till the end! See you in the next video. Thank you for watching!!
