Onomichi: I’m back at Miyajimaguchi Station. I think I’ll take the streetcar from Hiroshima Electric Railway Miyajimaguchi Station. I just got there. No need to touch the tram when boarding . I just tried to head to Hiroshima Station by streetcar, but it takes a long time. It takes about an hour, so I’ll change. I’m picking up my luggage at Hiroshima Station and heading to Onomichi now. It’s 3:30 now, so I’ll probably arrive around 5:00. Finally, I’ve arrived at Onomichi Station. Let’s check into the hotel. Today’s hotel is in a nice place . The weather is nice. I can see the cranes in the distance. It has a similar feel to Kure. There are more buildings along the mountain. They serve the famous Onomichi ramen. I’ll go a little further. It’s 5:30 now. I was far from Hiroshima Station. I’m almost in Okayama Prefecture now. I can see the Onomichi Strait right in front of me. It’s a relaxing place with even a wooden deck . Everyone is relaxing on the benches. This is the hotel I’m staying at, Urashima Inn Gangi. My room looks like this. It’s a double bed. I have the curtains closed now. The Omichi Strait is right in front of me . This is the hotel’s selling point: it’s wonderful. There’s a sink here. The toilet and shower room. I’m now on the hotel rooftop. What a spectacular view. The sunset in Onomichi. Perfect timing. I think I’ll take a stroll around Onomichi. And while I’m there, I’ll probably have dinner. The toilets are well-maintained , aren’t they? They have a shopping street. They’re having a Tanabata festival. Every building is retro. The Tanabata festival is happening . The cigarette vending machine is amazing. There’s a railroad crossing . The road is narrow. I like this cramped feeling. Can I take a photo from there? Can I see it? No, I can’t. Onomichi seems to have a lot of temples. The sunset is beautiful . The sky is gentle. This is a restaurant called Yamatoyu. Actually, this isn’t a public bath. It used to be a public bath, but now it’s a Chinese restaurant. It has a certain charm. I’ll have a Setouchi lemon sour. It’s refreshing and delicious. The pickled mustard greens are the appetizer here . This drool-worthy chicken looks delicious . 🤤 Let’s eat . It’s delicious. It’s good for summer. I’m heading towards the mountains, where I couldn’t go yesterday. This is the famous Senkoji Temple. Mornings are nice. There are no people, it’s quiet, and it’s cool. There are many small railroad crossings in Onomichi. This road is narrow. I’m curious about what’s ahead. It’s exciting. It’s like a maze. It reminds me of Jiufen in Taiwan . There’s a garbage dump here. You have to climb all the way up here to collect it. It’s really hard work. Look, this is the Senkoji hiking trail. Over here. There are various shops, but this is the famous Nekonote Bread Factory. Unfortunately, it is currently closed from July 29th to September 3rd. Sorry. I wanted to go to this little bakery, but it seems they only allow one person in at a time . I recommend coming after September 4th. I think it’s still somewhere in the mountains . The road is very narrow . By the way, there’s also a ropeway. If you’re not confident in your legs, I recommend the ropeway. You’ll also discover something new by walking up. I discovered a local manhole . The sunrise was beautiful . You could get a panoramic view of Onomichi. I arrived at Senkoji Temple. There’s also a cafe. I climbed a little higher . This is Cat Shrine. It’s a mysterious section. There should be cats around here, but there aren’t. The rock walls are shaped like cats. It’s art. The floor of the stairs is also shaped like cats. The cracks are shaped like cats . It’s a must-see for cat lovers. Where are the real cats? They are not always on the streets. Try to look for them from the cat’s perspective. A former vocational school has been repurposed as a shop, but there are no cats at all. I finally found it ! It’s so cute! There’s a retro coffee shop. It’s stylish. The motley feel is very Japanese, and I love it. I’ll have breakfast here. It used to be an apartment building , but it’s been renovated. I just came in from an alleyway, and it’s a little hard to find. You can go in with your shoes on . It was full, so I’ll wait a little . It feels like another world. Freshly fried tofu for breakfast. Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, it’s delicious . The miso soup has a gentle flavor and is comforting . I also had some marinated eggplant. This dish is so cute. It’s an apartment in an interesting location. It seems to be made up of three apartments with a courtyard. It’s stylish and somehow relaxing . The three-family apartment building was delicious . The food was better than I expected. There’s no parking, so park at the station. The owner was also nice. It’s similar to Kamome Shokudo. I’d love to go to Finland too. I checked out of the hotel . The boat crew gave me a peace sign. ☺️ The Seto Inland Sea is calm, the blue waters are beautiful, and it’s picturesque. There are general goods stores and second-hand clothing shops in the back alleys. It’s a hidden gem, like a secret base, and it’s exciting. There’s no one in the back alleys. This seems to be an unmanned onigiri shop. Inside, there are rows of freezers and a menu. Okayama natural salt looks delicious. These are simple salted onigiri. Put your money in this envelope. Try to avoid getting change as much as possible. Write the onigiri you want on the envelope. The onigiri are frozen. Once you put the cute coin in, drop it in the mailbox here . There’s also an eat-in area in the back. They also have a microwave. Put it in and heat for 1 minute 40 seconds . Let’s eat. It’s hot. Onomichi is full of wonderful shops, even if you just wander around . You might not know it until you walk around. It’s like, “I never knew this place existed!” Let’s have some umeboshi brown rice onigiri . The umeboshi plums are sweet and sour, delicious , and the texture of the brown rice is great too . I want more! The sign is super cute. They’re filled with plums, and they’re big . I recommend them in the summer . The sourness is delicious . I ate quite a lot . The brown rice is also delicious. The texture is different from white rice. Many stores in Onomichi are temporarily closed during this time of year, so I was able to make some new discoveries. Please be careful, everyone. Please check Instagram and other posts beforehand . I bought an ice cream monaka from Sawa Karasawa. This bench is also Karasawa. It ‘s a nice beach. Let’s eat! It’s delicious! The monaka is crispy, and this is my first time trying a monaka like this . The ice cream also has a gentle flavor. Sunset Cafe Donut Sunset Donut Plain. They have a variety of flavors, including kinako (roasted soybean flour), chocolate, and honey. They all looked delicious. The aroma is sweet. They’re fluffy and chewy. The handmade donuts are cute . I want to visit donut shops all over the country. This is delicious. I also bought a slightly sweet drink. Onomichi Lemon Soda is a refreshing and delicious snack perfect for a hot day. It’s cute and retro , with a lovely retro feel. This syrup is lemon juice, but it looks like fish . I poured it all over and enjoyed it. It’s definitely a delicious pudding, but it tastes more like cheesecake. It’s quite firm and chewy. Let’s eat! It’s rich. It’s definitely cheesecake. It ‘s delicious . I thought it was just a regular pudding, but it’s completely different. This is cheesecake pudding. Onomichi Ramen Shoya Restaurant. Finally, I tried Onomichi ramen. Onomichi ramen is surprisingly light. It looks like this, and there’s quite a bit of back fat, but it’s surprisingly light despite being heavy. It’s light yet rich. The fragrant aroma of soy sauce and the thin, straight noodles cling to the soup, filling your mouth with flavor. The toppings are simple, and the crispness of the char siu and green onions adds a nice touch. I recommend giving Onomichi ramen a try. I’m full now. I’m glad I was able to eat one last time. The restaurant I wanted to go to was closed, so I went to a different restaurant. It turned out to be a good result. I told the hotel front desk staff about YouTube. They were very happy .
