グレート オーシャン ロードと十二使徒を探索しましょう🪃
The Great Ocean Road is one of the most spectacular coast regions in the world and one of the most visited areas in Australia. And this is for a good reason. It is gorgeous! In this video we tour the Great Ocean road starting on the western edge in Port Campbell and ending in the surfing capital of Australia, Torquay – visiting all of the incredible attractions (yes, the Twelve Apostles) along the way.

The Tour we took:
Hit the Road Tours
The tour started at 6:50am from the Southbank area of Melbourne. This was a “reverse itinerary” tour, meaning, we went direclty (nearly) to the 12 Apostles to beat the crowd. My opinion: this was an excellent tour, great guide and an intimate group (only 11 people). However, we didn’t have long for lunch (so we ate on the street at Apollo Bay) and the mini-bus wasn’t exactly luxious, but I highly recommend it.

Highlights of the Great Ocean Road.
Torquay
Torquay is the gateway to the Great Ocean Road, famous for surf culture and Bells Beach, host of the Rip Curl Pro. It offers coastal walks, surf shops, cafes, and the Australian National Surfing Museum, providing a lively start to the journey.
Anglesea
Anglesea is a relaxed coastal town known for kangaroos that roam the golf course and nearby beaches.
Lorne
Lorne is a picturesque seaside town with beaches, cafes, and boutique shops. It’s a gateway to the Great Otway National Park, waterfalls, and rainforest walks.
Teddy’s Lookout
Teddy’s Lookout provides sweeping views of Lorne, the coast, and the Otway Ranges.
Kennett River
Kennett River is renowned for koalas in eucalyptus trees and colorful birdlife.
Apollo Bay
Apollo Bay is a coastal town with beaches, a fishing harbor, and fresh seafood.
Cape Otway & Lighthouse
Cape Otway Lighthouse, built in 1848, is Australia’s oldest mainland lighthouse.
Great Otway National Park
Great Otway National Park features dense rainforests, waterfalls, and wildlife. Hike fern gorges, spot koalas and lyrebirds, or camp amid diverse landscapes. The park combines coastal cliffs with inland forests, offering nature experiences for all visitors.
Mait’s Rest
Maits Rest, in Great Otway National Park, is a short rainforest boardwalk showcasing towering myrtle beeches, lush ferns, and mossy undergrowth. This is one of my favorite places in the region. Beautiful!
Twelve Apostles
The Twelve Apostles are a dramatic collection of limestone sea stacks rising from the Southern Ocean along Victoria’s Great Ocean Road. Formed over millions of years through erosion, these towering pillars once connected to the mainland now stand isolated, shaped by wind and waves. Despite their name, only eight remain standing, with others having collapsed. Best viewed at sunrise or sunset when the cliffs glow golden, the site is one of Australia’s most photographed and breathtaking coastal landmarks.
Loch Ard Gorge
Loch Ard Gorge is named after the 1878 shipwreck of the clipper Loch Ard. Towering cliffs, sandy beaches, and historical significance make it a scenic and reflective stop near the Twelve Apostles region.
Razorback:
The Razorback is a striking limestone formation, shaped by relentless winds and waves along Victoria’s coast.
London Arch (formerly London Bridge)
London Arch is a limestone formation that partially collapsed in 1990, leaving a striking coastal arch.
The Grotto
The Grotto combines a sinkhole and sea cave, creating a natural arch with ocean waters swirling below.
Gibson Steps
Gibson Steps allows visitors to descend 86 steps to the beach below towering cliffs near the Twelve Apostles. It provides an up-close view of the waves and limestone formations, emphasizing the dramatic scale of Victoria’s southern coastline.
