Today’s destination is Cebu. We’ll tell you everything you need to prepare for your Cebu trip, including tour tips, tour itineraries, and more. Let’s begin. Cebu Weather. Cebu’s year-round temperature ranges from 25 to 32 degrees Celsius. The rainy season runs from June to November, but even during this period, the rain often subsides quickly, so it doesn’t significantly disrupt your itinerary. We recommend exchanging your currency to dollars in Korea and then exchanging it back to pesos locally. Tips for massages and tour guides are typically 100 pesos (about 2,500 won in Korean currency). The distance from the dock to the whale shark spot is so short that you can see it. There are about 10 whale sharks. They come to you by wagging their tails next to the bangka to receive shrimp as food. Wow, it’s truly amazing. Even if you can’t swim, you can still watch whale sharks while wearing a life jacket, so there’s no need to worry. Of course, the Three Friends Tour will take photos with a GoPro, so you can capture some truly memorable moments. They give you a shower towel for every water activity, and it smells really good. Be sure to buy some fabric softener when you go shopping in Cebu. Next, we head to Tumalog Falls near Oslob, where we ride a motorcycle down from the waterfall entrance. It’s so fun and exciting, it feels like we’re on a legal biker gang. Upon arriving at the falls, we’re greeted by a magnificent waterfall. This waterfall is said to have inspired the movie “Avatar.” You should definitely get splashed by the water, though. It didn’t hurt much. (Doctor Fish) I recommend wearing a nice swimsuit or a one-piece over your swimsuit at Tumalog Falls. After viewing the waterfalls, we had a quick breakfast at the Ocean View Resort, where we asked our guide to exchange some money. Then, we headed to the canyoning base camp to change. Canyoning gear: We’ll need thick-soled aqua shoes, which can be rented for $1. Be sure to visit the restroom at the Three Friends Tour canyoning base camp. You’ll also ride a motorbike to the canyoning point. I’m a bit of a timid person, so I was a bit worried beforehand. If you’re not good at jumping, there’s a walking route, so don’t worry too much. Canyoneering is an activity that involves jumping, swimming, and hiking along narrow valleys and cliffs. There are two-hour and four-hour courses, and I chose the two-hour course for the Moalboal hopping. It was a good choice. You must wear a wetsuit for protection, and I wore a swimsuit underneath. The guide took such good care of me that I… fell in love. Free snacks provided by the Three Friends Tour, canyoning snacks. Now, the last stop on the itinerary is the Moalboal hopping tour. Thanks to the guide’s dedication, I was able to take a picture of myself with a turtle. Another highlight of Moalboal is the sardine schools! The day felt like a week, so it was very fulfilling. I didn’t feel as tired as I thought because I took frequent breaks in the private vehicle. After snorkeling, you can enjoy lunch, seasonal fruit, and unlimited beer at the private resort. After playing in the water, I was craving Korean food, and the Korean meal was truly delicious. The Oslob, Canyoneering, and Moalboal package tour I chose allowed me to spend a full day from the airport to the tour without wasting time, so I recommend taking it on the first day. That’s how the day went. After a hectic day, I decided to take it easy the next day. The itinerary for the day was a hopping tour with Three Friends Tours, conducted in a private vehicle, private bungalow, and a dedicated guide. Cebu is home to three famous islands, and I chose the Nalusuan and Hilutungan Island hopping tour. It’s a 30-minute yacht ride from Mactan Island, so I recommend bringing motion sickness medication. If you don’t have any, ask your guide in advance . The yacht has a variety of snacks, and they even provide instant noodles during the hopping tour, so you don’t need to bring anything else. They also provide life jackets, flippers, and snorkeling gear for rent. The first island hopping tour is Nalusuan Island. It’s also known in Korea as the location for a Pocari Sweater commercial. Fish food. Nalusuan is a great family water park, with shallow waters perfect for children. It’s full of coral reefs and tropical fish, and even I, a non-swimmer, took off my life jacket and took a picture of myself. The guides here are dedicated to taking care of me, so I can take great photos and videos and enjoy snorkeling comfortably. Now, let’s go fishing. Unlike Korea, they use hermit crabs as bait here. You can also go on a hopping tour right away, but I wanted to relax for a bit, so I tried traditional Filipino line fishing on the boat. Of course, the guide will bait and teach you how to do it, so there’s no need to worry. Jump. And then, the second island hopping tour. This time, the water was a bit deeper, so I grabbed my life jacket and snorkeled with gusto. It’s a place where even young children who can’t swim can enjoy the water. Cebu Sea World. The hopping tour ended at 3 p.m. The third-day Three Friends Tour hopping tour is recommended for those who don’t want to travel long distances or want to enjoy a light snorkeling trip with children. On the last day, I didn’t want to carry wet swimsuits all the way to the airport. I also didn’t want to be anxious about checking the time before heading to the airport. So, I opted for the Three Friends Tour City Tour Package, which included a one-day city tour, a final massage, and airport drop-off. Our first stop was lunch at Chubi Chubi, a popular seafood restaurant in Cebu. It’s also popular with Koreans. We then stopped at Park Mall, known as Cebu’s largest counterfeit market. Instead of exploring the counterfeit market, we took a break at Boss Coffee, a local coffee shop often called the Starbucks of Cebu. The village bus costs 90 pesos. Tuk-tuks vary depending on the distance, but 1-2 kilometers costs 100 pesos. Our next destination was Fort San Pedro, a fortified wall made of coral reef and limestone. Cebu was the first capital of the Philippines during the Spanish colonial period and served as the political and cultural center of the Philippines for approximately 300 years after Spanish rule began in 1565. Magellan landed in Cebu in 1521. He is said to have spread Catholicism to Cebu. Lapu-Lapu, the indigenous chieftain of Mactan Island. Fort San Pedro served as a prisoner-of-war camp for Filipinos during the Japanese colonial period. Next, we visited Magellan’s Cross and the Basilica of Santo Niño. To enter the Basilica of Santo Niño, visitors must wear shorts or long sleeves, long pants or a skirt that covers their knees. In 1565, the entire structure was destroyed by fire during a war, but the only surviving statue of the Child Jesus was found here. The Basilica of Santo Niño was built on that site. On the way to the Temple of Leah, which boasts a stunning view, we also visited the Temple of Leah, a Greek-style temple built by a Filipino businessman in memory of his late wife, Leah. The stairs leading up to the statue are a popular spot for taking photos. Open until 10 p.m., it offers panoramic views of Cebu City, making it a popular spot for sunsets and night views. Sirao Garden is a popular spot for taking photos, particularly the famous “hand-up” photo spot . Suddenly, rain started pouring down, so we coordinated our schedule with our guide and headed straight to the mall. At Ayala Mall, we chose Gerry’s Grill for dinner. This is a popular chain restaurant in Cebu and Manila, Philippines. The grilled squid here is truly delicious. You can buy souvenirs at the Metro Mart in Ayala Malls. For dried mangoes, be sure to choose 7D Mango. The chocolate cookies and banana chips are also delicious. The Philippines, in particular, is known for its poor water quality, which is why hair products and fabric softeners have become so popular. The itinerary included a massage, transfer to the airport, and return to Korea. It was a truly fulfilling trip , wasn’t it? The most important thing about this trip—even more important than the water activities—was safety.
