Today we will take a walk through the small cozy town of Bamberg The city is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List Bamberg is located in Germany in the federal state of Bavaria in its northern part with the historical name Franconia, 60 km from Nuremberg Key Historical Dates:

902 AD: First mentioned as Castrum Babenberch.
1007: Founded as a bishopric by Emperor Henry II, becoming a center of religious and political power.
1012: Bamberg Cathedral construction begins.
1430–1455: Hussite Wars damage the city.
1602–1609: Construction of the Old Town Hall (Altes Rathaus) on an artificial island.
1647: Bamberg resists Swedish forces in the Thirty Years’ War. 1802: Secularized and absorbed into Bavaria.
1993: Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its medieval and baroque architecture. We started our walk from the bridge over the Main Danube Canal and are now walking along the street Hauptwachstrasse towards the historical center. The Neptune Fountain in Bamberg, built in the 17th century, features the Roman god of the sea holding his trident, symbolizing power over water. Locals call him Gabelman (local slang for Neptune, “fork man”) Old Town Hall. Built in the 15th century on an island in the Regnitz, symbolizing the city’s independence. Town Hall Frescoes. Vivid 18th-century paintings decorating the walls with allegorical scenes. In 2011 film “The Three Musketeers”, featuring well-known actors including Logan Lerman, Milla Jovovich, Orlando Bloom, Christoph Waltz, was filmed here. Käthe Wohlfahrt is a famous German Christmas shop known for its enchanting atmosphere and high-quality handcrafted ornaments, nutcrackers, music boxes, and festive decorations, open year-round to bring the magic of Christmas to visitors. Schlenkerla is a historic brewery and tavern in Bamberg, world-famous for its traditional smoked beer (Rauchbier), brewed using malt dried over beechwood fires, giving it a distinctive smoky flavor Bamberg Cathedral.
