일요일인 줄 모르고 간 일요마켓 (2) #치앙마이한달살기
Okay, it’s my second day in Chiang Mai. It’s the third day by date, but I arrived at night, so it’s only my second day technically. I have some editing to do. I’m not going out. But I need to eat something, so I looked around and saw a brunch place in front of my house.
I’ll grab a quick bite there. My hotel is over there, and the restaurant is over there . I was wondering how to get across the traffic lights,
but I think I’ll just jaywalk. There’s a crosswalk in front of the 7-Eleven.
It’s scary, so I’ll try that side. I’ll have the Moon Breakfast. There’s a picture of it here.
The summer salad looks good too. Oh, I feel like I should be here more often It’s here! Is this good? It seems good. I’ll order this. It’s a pretty hip place. It’s an open kitchen, and there’s a drawer in front, but I think it’s a drawer that doesn’t open. The food has arrived: bread, eggs, bacon, vegetables, and coffee. FYI, this is 180 baht. 180 baht is 6,600 won in Korean currency. It’s delicious, but I eat a lot. I think I’ll be hungry again as soon as I turn around. What is this? It is a dressing balsamic it’s gone. Guys, it vanished This one was 80 baht. This will come out to about 260 baht. Could I have the receipt? Thank you Okay, I’m going home now
I’d love to go out and have fun, but I have to work today Okay, I finished editing and came out to eat dinner.
I had pad thai and tom yum goong Night has come to Nim Minh Hae Minh. It’s not so hot at night, so the people seem a little more energetic I think that’s the charm of Chiang Mai
seems no rush, but not slow, not busy, not lazy but also a little like time has stopped. It’s a city with all of those complexities mixed together. Okay, it’s my fourth day in Chiang Mai. When I woke up in the morning, I was so hungry. But my room doesn’t have a kitchen. It’s a bit awkward going out to eat and stuff like this all the time. It’s 8:30 right now. I think this is the abandoned building I saw across from where I stayed. There was an abandoned building in front of here. I think this is the hotel… Yes, it is. It’s a hotel. Oh, so this is closed. It’s a huge hotel if you go this way, you’re in the heart of Chiang Mai. It’s called Old Town, so people have been living there for a long time. The location of the hotel is really good
because it’s right in the middle of Nimmanhaemin and Old Town. It’s within walking distance, so why aren’t there any crosswalks?
How do people get across? That’s an awkward situation Oh, they’re jaywalking. Okay, we made it across safely.
This is Old Town. They call this a moat moat is a square shape like this. The city is inside. The water isn’t clear.
I saw a short film and someone filmed a snake here. captured the moment a snake slithered by like this. It felt like a whole new world would open up if you went inside
How do I cross this? There’s a traffic light second time after in front of Maya Mall. What do I press?
Something kept clicking and I was just standing there blankly
I guess I have to press this. I pressed it and it changed in five seconds. The buildings. I was like, “Wow, this building is amazing It’s so pretty! Those delicate windows. When did they build them? Look at arch! Oh my gosh! I shouldn’t be taking pictures of that, right?
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs hates this picture. This looks like a restaurant. It’s a car wash. This house is a mansion.
I think it was built in 2020. They say everyone lived here during the Lanna Kingdom. There’s a cafe and they sell this kind of stuff. 195 is just average. It’s not appealing. Something’s not appealing. There was a restaurant here
I think I should go here. I’ll try it today. It looks like they make it with very fresh ingredients. Something about it makes me want to try Pad Thai, but I had Pad Thai yesterday
and I usually only eat one Pad Thai a day. Should I just eat it until I get sick of it? Honestly, Pad Thai is 110 baht, which is a bit pricey. 130! 130 baht! I even got water The food arrived. It’s soup. I forgot the name again. I ordered rice separately. Rice is 20 baht. This is a really good meal, right? It’s a really well-made, filling kimchi stew.
But should I say the kimchi is made with white kimchi? What does it taste like? it’s delicious. rice like this, and there’s no meat or anything in it. it’s all vegetables.
I’m satisfied. Okay, I finished my meal and left. I’m buying coffee over there. It was 40 baht for a cup. I usually buy coffee for 70 baht, but this place was a bit cheaper,
so I decided to buy two. I heard March is the off-season in Chiang Mai . It’s probably because the air is so bad,
but I honestly don’t know It’s probably the same air quality in Seoul or anywhere else,
it feels the same. Fruit juices start at 35 baht, I think. “Bok Bok Coffee” If you pay like this I can show you this. Then, they ask you to scan the QR code below they don’t. I need to get into the habit of speaking Thai. Okay, I’ll grab my coffee and go home to edit the video. It’s lunch I ordered pizza. I have big hands, so I ordered a small,
and it was almost like the pizza you get at Paris Baguette I ordered a water and a cola, and this isn’t soy sauce, it’s iced Americano. Haha, that’s what they serve. I paid about 160 baht, and the coffee seems a bit expensive compared to other things.
I don’t know if it’s because it’s compared to Korea, but it’s around 1,500 won.
But you can eat this much for 1,500 won in Korea too. If I were at home, there’s a machine so I could keep brewing,
but it feels like I’m constantly spending money here. But I can’t not drink coffee either. Oh my~ Oh my~ It’s small. Hahaha But. It’s thick. I think it’s OKAY They also give you this powder. What is this?
Is this basil or something? They don’t give you hot sauce or anything.
I don’t think it’s good to compare anything to Korea like this. Okay, I came out to eat dinner. Since it’s meal time
the Grab guys are running around incredibly busy. I haven’t decided what to eat yet It’s definitely nice to have a cool night. This is a handmade burger place here.
Smash Daddy’s. That place with the lights on is a Japanese ramen place.
I’ll go in front there and make my decisions It’s called Tomodachi Ramen, “Friend” Ramen.
why am I not feeling so tempted? There’s a Japanese ramen place here too.
It’s called “Ninja Ramen.” Oh, it’s not expensive. Honestly, eating ramen at this price?
You can’t get this price even in Japan. Right? But I don’t think ramen is the answer today. Eating is my job. Eating is my job. I see they sell alcohol over there.
Oh, it’s a full room. Oh! This is PT Residence! This place is famous!
A lot of Koreans live there, right? It’s right in the center of Nimmanhaemin I see there’s a curry place here. I’m craving curry.
It’s called Crazy Curry. What is it? It looks delicious. Right?
But where is my curry place? I found it, everyone. Crazy Curry Japanese Curry Rice.
Oh! It’s pork cutlet! Awesome! I want this. It’s really, really good. No joke finished and left the basic curry was 100 baht, and I think the donkatsu was 60. And there was an omelet rice, right? 25 with a beaten egg, and 15 with water. I had some leftover water, and the bottle was so pretty,
so I asked if I could take it, and they said I could. Oh, I’m embarrassed to say this,
but isn’t this the most delicious thing I’ve ever eaten in Thailand? Next to the curry and rice, there was something like a vegetable fritter The moment I chewed on it, the cilantro flavor really hit me. But I can eat cilantro anyway.
For those who come here , be careful with the fritters They cut up the fruit.
Can I eat watermelon? But I’m too full to eat it. Today is Sunday morning, March 3rd.
You know those days when you just don’t feel like doing anything? So I ordered rice for breakfast. I think it was pad thai and a stir-fry with fresh shrimp. The total price right now is 162, and with delivery included,
it’s 6 baht. 6 baht = 224 won.
In conclusion, it’s less than 300 won. The delivery fee is a crazy cheap I was wondering if the gas fee would be included.
I didn’t check the gas fee though I ordered pad thai and this is what it came with.
Three shrimp, a side dish to eat together, and this is a stir-fry with spicy sauce. Right? I’ll try it like this I ordered it based on a picture without even knowing what it was. Oh, and by the way, there were no wooden chopsticks this time either.
It is okay to me I have wooden chopsticks. working whole afternoon and took a short nap I came out to eat
I skipped lunch today. I wasn’t hungry. And now I’m in Old Town. Oh my, there’s a beautiful temple.
The colors seem even more beautiful as the sun sets. But I, you guys, have one thing in mind: Nimmanhaemin and Old Town. Why are there so many empty houses? Is the economy struggling? Or is it just that the rent is so high? That’s where I ate yesterday I haven’t been there.
If I go this way, I’ll probably reach the end of Old Town, right? I was just walking aimlessly, wondering what I’d find,
and there it is. It’s a temple called Wat Phra Singh.
Wow! It’s so beautiful! It’s no joke! And there’s a night market across from here.
This is my first night market in Thailand. I’ll go check it out pencil case. Ashtray, refrigerator pants. 100 baht This place feels a bit touristy, but there are so many people.
I think you really have to come early in the morning. Wine Rack is cheap at 100 baht this seems cheap. Oh~ insect! there’s another restaurant
Let’s take a look at the menu. Pad Thai is 99.
It’s not bad, but it’s not really reasonable. It’s a bit pricey “you’re in Old Town, that’s why!” a bracelet an elephant I think I need some orange juice! I bought some. I don’t know what it says, but anyway, it’s orange juice. I think I bought it too early, but it’s all the way to the end. I’m thinking the orange juice might be a little cheaper
if I go a little further, but I’ll give it a try. The market has developed around these temples The lights are so pretty, right?
There’s another market there right now For now, I’m going to just dig this straight line today.
I still have 25 days left, so the orange juice is really delicious. This one seems to have sugar in it, it’s really delicious. I wouldn’t recommend eating two of these
because they’d be too sweet. There weren’t many people around, so I popped in.
I forgot the name of that temple I saw earlier! Oh, but seriously! How did they make it like this? My jaw is dropping. The people of Chiang Mai seem to live with beauty. Growing up seeing this kind of things naturally leads to an artist How did they do all this detail? Look over there. Even each and every tile was carved out! Isn’t it beautiful? And the temple’s shape. It’s tall.
I guess that’s its unique characteristic. Our Daeungjeon (main hall) doesn’t have a pointed top, right?
Do we have something like that in Korea? It’s cool because it’s pointed up. I guess that’s what people used to do in the past, right?
Honestly, this is more amazing than the night market. I think it ‘s so cool. I thought this was an office, like maintenance office. But there was someone sitting inside like this. They’re all meditating like this. This must be the real Thailand. People say, “Old Town, Old Town” this is why It’s tarot reading! I think one question costs 200 baht. This seems to be the main food alley. I think you can buy sushi, and it’s really cheap.
It’s 10 baht, but it’s almost like 390 won. What is it? It’s like boiled corn. I think it’s grilled. It’s grilled egg.
technically, it’s the omelet taste This one has some fish meat…
I have to buy this. I bought it. Grilled egg! This sushi place, I think I have to choose ten I’ll just take five. One for 10, so that’s 50, right? I got change for 50 baht. The reason I only bought five is because… There are some repetitive things, and when I actually stand right in front of it and look at it,
I don’t really have the desire to buy anything. Guys, I found an amazing bakery!
You have to buy this! Totally a scored! Perfect! Perfect!
I’m so satisfied! They have sushi and bread, and this is something I want to keep in the fridge and eat,
I want to eat something before I go, so I’ll look for it. I’m going to buy some watermelon,
so I’ll see if the market accepts QR codes. read it. It costs 774 won. Green curry pork and chicken rice here is 50 baht.
I’ll just eat it here and go. cat!! I think it’s sick. Green curry is here. It’s curry like this, and rice is here, heart-shaped. I’ll eat this and eat this later tonight
when I’m editing and get hungry That’s right. This road!
-Keep going this way! It’s a shortcut. I came here once at night, and I was just talking to an elderly Korean person a little while ago
He stays in same building as me he’s been here about 10 times so far.
He said he’s staying in Chiang Mai for two or three months and then going back to Korea after the winter.
So he said he was going tonight, so I asked him a few questions. He even told me a shortcut from his lodging to Nimman. This seems like a place with properly built private mansions.
This whole place looks like a house. It has six bedrooms, four bathrooms, and a pool. It’s a bit of a rich neighborhood. I’ll take a look around Nimman. When I passed by here at night, I thought it was a bar I think it was a restaurant. they have a tons of menus so I guess it’s something you can order a few small bites of.
I’ll look at the pictures and try some of the ones I can eat. Honestly I don’t think Thai food is for me. and I feel nauseous. I woke up this morning and I have an hesitation to it but I think I have to overcome that, right? So I’ll try again. Okay, I got the menu, and it’s kinda funny
They just took pictures of the food and cropped them. There should be text so I could at least get a general idea of what it is,
this is really awkward , right? I don’t even know the prices. this is so hard.
I’ll just look at the pictures and order. Ha, this is so hard I’ll order no4 and no10 There’s water next to the table.
I guess you take it to the counter, eat, and pay. a bug Let’s check this place out
The ceiling is like this It’s really a huge kimbap heaven?
I think Gimbap Cheonguk could compete with this restaurant with menus they have Okay, here’s the food. Did I order this?
I don’t even know the name. I’ll give it a try All I need is an egg.
Just rice and eggs are enough for a meal.Right? Oh! It’s delicious!
What is it? This place is so delicious!
What is it? It’s almost exactly the same taste as grandma used to make,
it’s almost Korean! This is really good, just finished! There used to be food here. There are only two cucumbers left and this much rice I think sitting by the window would make for a more atmospheric meal.
Next time, I’ll try sitting by the window Okay, let’s go pay. Pay~! I guess there is no cashier
Should I just run off? That’s a crime pigeons pigeons ate my food! It’s just a assuming I think this used to be a ‘residential district’.
Looking at the houses arranged in rectangles like this, and these houses details! It’s a bit old, but
there are things like Medusa heads, and it looks like expensive villas There’s a brownie house.
Brownie, yeesib! There’s a massage. I want to get a massage before I go, but people says once you get a massage, you can’t leave, so I haven’t. Chinese hotpot! I can not read chinese
Okay! Let’s keep going The houses are quite luxurious. In Old Town, the houses themselves were rather small.
This place feels a bit different. What do they do here?
They sell coffee and have a clothing store. Aren’t these houses so pretty? That terrace! It has a Nimmanhaemin vibe that’s hard to describe. Do you guys see this floor?
The streets are really dirty. But this neighborhood has this kind of filthiness mixed with
this kind of classy, hip vibe, and I think it’s quite unique. Honestly, people often say Nimmanhaemin is like
the Cheongdam-dong of Chiang Mai, or Gangnam, but I think it’s true.
The houses are amazing! Look at this house! There are all these paintings all over it, these beautiful Buddhist statues. Okay, there’s a pasta place over there.
Real Good Pasta. Ah~! If you go this way, there’s Maya Mall. Then I’ll go to Maya Mall and buy a carton of milk.
I really need to drink milk for a smooth bowel movement. 7- Eleven! 7-Eleven. I can’t use QR code. I always pay with QR, right?
They don’t accept QR codes at all. Some people might say they want to save cash. In that case, they pay with a credit card, but they only accept credit card payments of over 200 baht.
I think it’s because of the fee. You have to match 200 baht anyways This is a travel agency . This is a currency exchange. Oh! I have to eat watermelon! I bought watermelon. You have to eat watermelon I live alone, so I can’t buy watermelon in the summer. If I buy a whole one, I throw away a third of it. I can’t eat it all. This is 20 baht. That’s about 700 won. So we have to eat a lot of watermelon. Watermelon is always right. COMING UP NEXT!
