【食べログ百名店】湘南・相模原・大磯のカレー名店を7軒ハシゴ!絶品カレーめぐり

From the very first bite, aroma and flavor fill your mouth. There’s a curry that’s truly special. Today, we’ll visit Curry Top 100 restaurants from Shonan and Kamakura to Sagamihara, Chigasaki, and Oiso. All personally selected places that left us thinking, “That was worth the trip.” And in the second half, a special feature on Ethnic Top 100 spots for curry lovers. Here are the seven places we’ll be visiting today. First, a spot where you can enjoy both the view and the flavor. A long-loved curry landmark standing along the Shonan coast in Shichirigahama. Opened in 1986 as the second branch of the original Sangosho. It boasts a history of nearly half a century. From inside or the terrace, you get sweeping ocean views—especially magical at sunset. The menu offers over 10 varieties of original curry. Today we ordered their famous Garlic Potatoes, Pork Loin Cutlet Curry, and Beef Curry. The potatoes are crispy outside, fluffy inside, and packed with flavor. Once you start, you just can’t stop eating them. The pork cutlet curry pairs a crunchy cutlet with rich, mellow roux. The roux is dairy-rich, creamy, and full of depth. The beef curry combines tender stewed beef with a deeply flavorful roux. Perfect for those wanting to savor both Shonan’s scenery and its curry. Just a 2-minute walk from Shichirigahama Station on the Enoden Line. There’s parking right next to the restaurant. No reservations, and expect a line on weekends. We arrived 30 minutes before opening and already saw four groups ahead. If you arrive before opening, line up at the back of the parking lot, and staff will guide you in. A perfect stop for a Shichirigahama weekend. Leave the bustle of Shonan behind and enjoy curry atop the hill. East of Kamakura’s Shichirigahama— a long-established curry and Western food restaurant founded in 1972. This is the original Sangosho, introduced earlier, loved in Shonan for decades. Some menu items overlap, but the thick-cut Beef Cutlet Curry is exclusive to the main branch. The seafood salad pairs fresh seafood with crisp vegetables. It’s a generous portion—perfect for sharing. We split one between two, and it was just right. Fluffy potatoes with anchovy richness and just the right saltiness. Garlic aroma and black pepper heat keep you coming back. Finish by mixing in the sauce at the bottom—it’s irresistible. Since we came to the main branch, we went for their signature Beef Cutlet Curry. A thick, perfectly rare beef cutlet— crispy on the outside, juicy and flavorful inside. The roux is mellow, rich, and medium-spicy. Cutlet and roux bring out the best in each other—this is the main branch’s pride. The seafood mix curry has seafood flavors melting into the roux. For the view, visit Moana Makai Sangosho— for quiet and the main branch’s Beef Cutlet Curry, come here. About a 10-minute walk from Shichirigahama Station on the Enoden Line. It’s an uphill walk through a residential area, so watch your step. There’s parking next to the restaurant. No reservations—check in for your turn at the touchscreen by the entrance. For peace and quiet, and the main branch’s Beef Cutlet Curry, this is the place. A beloved Kamakura spot for massive portions of European-style curry. An old favorite tucked along a side street off Komachi-dori. With a retro coffee shop feel, it’s loved by tourists and locals alike. A regular serving of rice is about 550g. First-timers are recommended to order small. This time we had Beef Curry and Scallop Curry. The beef curry is rich and deep, with shredded beef melting into the roux. Just the right spice level—medium-hot, classic European curry. The scallop curry is loaded with plump scallops, bursting with flavor and aroma. Sweet scallop and spice are perfectly balanced, lingering on the palate. A 6-minute walk from JR Kamakura Station. No dedicated parking. No reservations—line up at the entrance in order of arrival. We arrived on a Saturday, one hour before opening, with two groups ahead. By opening time, the line had grown longer. Cash only, so be prepared. The line is worth it for this volume and flavor. Maboroshi in Sagamihara—famous for its long lines and authentic spice curry. A tiny space with about 10 seats. Each dish is finished individually in a frying pan. First, their signature Pork Curry. Big chunks of pork and complex spice notes. A slow-building heat that keeps you hooked. Perfect with turmeric rice. This time with quail eggs on top. Soft-boiled eggs, cilantro, and pickles are also great toppings. Next, the Chicken Curry. Fragrant spices and tender, juicy chicken. A light, smooth roux leaves a refreshing aftertaste. Also tried the Mutton & Eggplant Keema topping. Rich lamb and spicy keema make for an addictive dish. Open for lunch only. Often sold out before 1 p.m., so come early. Check their X (formerly Twitter) for daily hours and sell-out updates. A 15-minute walk from JR Sagamihara Station or 4 minutes from Shiyakusho-mae bus stop. No dedicated parking. No reservations—line up in front, tickets given from around 9:30 a.m. Return at your designated ticket time. On this weekday, we arrived around 9:30 a.m. and there were four groups ahead. Cash only, so be ready. Each spice curry is carefully crafted—a truly unique taste found only here. A taste you’ll never forget. Hiratsuka’s beloved home-style curry. A small house-style shop with warm wooden interiors. The menu ranges from meat to seafood to vegetable curries. Toppings are plentiful too. First, the Oyako Curry. Fluffy egg, spicy roux, and chunky chicken—perfectly matched. Topped with a crab cream croquette. Crispy coating, rich crab flavor, and curry’s depth—pure indulgence. Next, the Roast Cutlet Curry. Crispy fried cutlet meets deep, simmered roux in a bold pairing. Every dish is hearty—leaving you full and satisfied. A 5-minute walk from JR Hiratsuka Station. No dedicated parking. No reservations—line up in front in order of arrival. On this weekday, we arrived 10 minutes before opening, with one group ahead. By the time we left, about three groups were waiting outside. Cash only, so be prepared. Homemade curry with a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. You’ll understand why it’s been loved in Hiratsuka for so long. Now, for a special “bonus round” for curry lovers. Featuring spots from the Tabelog Top 100 in the Asian/Ethnic category. Experience authentic Indian spices in Shonan. A Shonan favorite, also awarded the Michelin Bib Gourmand. With a calm brick exterior and a warm, home-like interior. Here you can enjoy traditional North Indian curry and fragrant tandoor dishes. Here’s the menu. The Bhojan D Set includes assorted kebabs, salad, naan, vegetable pilaf, and your choice of curry. It even comes with chai—an indulgent lunch set. We visited as a pair, each choosing different curries: Chicken Vindaloo and Chicken Jhanjiri. The Chicken Vindaloo is a spicy curry from Goa. Potatoes and tender chicken breast—irresistible with naan. The Chicken Jhanjiri is a gentle North Indian curry with cream, nuts, and raisins. Mild sweetness and refined richness, perfect for kids or those who prefer less spice. The tandoori chicken is smoky and juicy. The kebabs are boldly spiced and full of flavor. Here’s the access info. Located midway between JR Tsujido and Chigasaki Stations. A 1-minute walk from Hamasuka Iriguchi bus stop. Six reserved parking spaces across the street in a monthly lot. Reservations are recommended for this popular spot. For authentic Indian cuisine in Shonan, start with the D Set. One taste and you’ll want to return. A luxurious Thai curry lunch in Oiso. A small, cozy restaurant with a homely vibe. Here’s the menu. We chose the popular double curry for lunch. Massaman Curry and Shrimp & Avocado Green Curry. First, the signature Massaman Curry. Coconut creaminess, peanut and onion richness, with a hint of ginger. The chicken falls apart tender, and the potatoes are perfectly fluffy. Next, the Shrimp & Avocado Green Curry. Coconut richness with the fresh heat of green curry. A 5-minute walk from JR Oiso Station. Parking behind the restaurant is a bit tight—larger cars take care. Two curries that balance authentic Thai spice with smooth, easy flavors. A must-visit for Thai curry in Oiso. From Shonan and Kamakura to Sagamihara, Chigasaki, and Oiso—what a curry journey. Each spot had its own unique flavors and atmosphere—each dish unforgettable. If you found this video helpful, please like and subscribe! We hope Yuzu Log inspires you to visit these spots yourself.
