On May 8, 1333, he raised his army at Ikunojinja Shrine in Gunma Prefecture, and within two weeks he had advanced along the Kamakura Highway and destroyed the Kamakura Shogunate. This is Kannonji Temple. It is unclear when it was first built, but it appears to have existed in the 1500s. It says “unrelated spirits.” It’s old. Probably from the Edo period. This narrow road is the old Oyama Kaido. Old roads are still important today, but the narrowness of the roads It is a branch shrine of Oyama Afuri Shrine. In the past, this area must have been bustling with people making pilgrimages to Mt. Oyama. This area used to be a post town called Shimotsuruma-juku. There were about 20 houses in this area. It’s the intersection of the Oyama Kaido and the Hachioji Kaido. This Oyama Kaido would have been an appropriate width in the Edo period, but it is narrow for a modern road. There are still old houses remaining. The suburbs were less affected by the war so they have been preserved. Unmanned vegetable vending machine at Kadowaki Shimotsuruma Furusatokan (former Ogura family residence) Apparently there used to be a notice board here. 狭い路地を抜け、昔の街道に足を踏み入れたとき、空気の色が少し変わったように感じた。八王子街道と大山道が交わる町、下鶴間。第六天神社の鳥居をくぐると、かつて信長が信じた祈りが、今もこの地で息をしていることに気づかされる。旧鎌倉街道の碑が静かに語るのは、新田義貞の軍勢が駆け抜けた日々。そんな記憶の残響を踏みしめながら、観音寺の無縁仏に手を合わせ、大山阿夫利神社御分霊社では、遠くからでも届くような願いを胸に抱いた。暮らしの匂いは至るところにある。門前の無人販売台、蔵付きの旧家、そして高札場の面影を残す下鶴間ふるさと館。すべてが今と過去の間に佇んでいた。静けさの奥から誰かの祈りが聞こえるような、そんな時間だった。遠く離れていても、この風景に心を重ねることはできる。祈りと生活がすれ違う町を歩くたび、見過ごしてきた何かに、そっと触れられる気がする。
