小布施の美しい小径をお散歩|栗と北斎と小布施堂 – 人々が育んだまち【冬の長野旅行】

Hello, this is kapi from kapi trip. This time, we will take a walk in Obuse, Nagano Prefecture. Obuse is a historic town that flourished as a market town in the Edo period. The trip starts at Obuse Station on the Nagano Electric Railway. It takes about 30 minutes from Nagano Station to Obuse Station by train. There is a tourist information center in the station building. Now, we will walk from the station toward the town center. It is a 10-minute walk. We will walk through Obusedo and the surrounding plazas and paths. Obusedo has been run by the Ichimura family for generations. Obusedo’s main store can be seen on the left. Obuse is famous for chestnuts, and chestnut confections are sold at the main store. Obusedo’s spacious grounds also include a restaurant and café. The main gate of Obusedo is now in sight. Visitors are free to walk through here and pass through the gate. The chimney seen in the back belongs to the Masuichi-Ichimura Sake Brewery. The Ichimura family has been brewing sake since the Edo period. This is Obusedo’s Entotsu Cafe. It is a renovated rice milling cellar of a sake brewery. During the renovation, the plaza in front of the building was also improved. This time we visited this cafe. This cafe specializes in Mont Blanc. We enjoyed Mont Blanc and tea in a lovely architectural space renovated and designed by architect Yoshifumi Nakamura. Head for the small path that passes by the cafe. This is on the Obusedo property, but it is a nice alley that anyone can walk through. Passing through an alley, we came to the front of the Hokusai-kan Museum. This is the museum of the ukiyoe artist Katsushika Hokusai. Hokusai visited Obuse in his later years to create his works. A festival float with a ceiling painting by Hokusai is on display. There are souvenir shops, cafes, and restaurants surrounding the museum. Now we came to the Kuri no Komichi. Kuri no Komichi is a narrow promenade leading west from the museum. It was created in the 1980s as one of the efforts to beautify the streets of Obuse. Walk along a small path, passing by restaurants. A unique feature of this path is the use of chestnut trees for pavement. This time, perhaps because it was winter when we visited, the paths was covered with a non-slip surface. So I will show you later what kind of pavement it is. Chestnut trees were planted along the path. Here is a shot of the pavement of the chestnut tree. You can see the annual rings of the wood and feel the warmth of the wood. I would like to visit again in the summer when I can see the pavement. Pass by the Takai Kohzan Memorial Museum and continue along the path. The mountains glimpsed from the town of Obuse are very beautiful. One of the efforts to beautify the town was a well-maintained parking lot. It is called a Nobori no Hiroba and is sometimes used as an event venue. In Obuse, there is a movement called Obuse Open Gardens. This is an activity that opens the gardens of individuals to the public. This path also seemed to be part of a private garden. Based on the culture of “outside is for everyone, inside is for us,” towns, individuals, and businesses began to work together. Next, we will walk along Nakamachi Komichi. The narrow paths allow visitors to wander and enjoy a stroll. This path is on the grounds of a sake brewery, Matsubaya Honten. It is open to the public and can be walked through. The town was very enjoyable to explore with many small paths to take around the town. This is the store of Matsubaya Honten, a sake brewery founded in the Edo period. It faces Kannon Street. We will walk through the paths and open gardens that we could not introduce. There are many more wonderful places in Obuse, so please visit the Obuse town. As I was walking toward the station, I noticed a stone on the town corner. It is enshrined as a guardian deity of the market. At the end of the walk, I could feel Obuse’s history as a market town. This time, we took a walk around Obuse, focusing on the small paths. Thank you for your watching.

Ofuse Town in Nagano Prefecture is a beautiful town with a long history, famous for its chestnuts and Katsushika Hokusai. This time, we took a walk around Obusedo, located in the town center of Obuse, and the small paths and squares around it. The town has a number of small paths that pass through private properties and gardens. Especially famous are the Chestnut Lane, where chestnut trees are used for pavement. These small paths took us around the town, and we enjoyed walking around.
At the Obusedo café, famous for its chestnut confections, we had the famous Mont Blanc.
