道の駅パークイン丹生ヶ丘 越前の塩!越前塩あずきソフトと塩飴【S660ドライブ】

This time, we’re going on a Michi-no-Eki (roadside station) tour in Fukui Prefecture. Just like last time, we’re heading all the way to Fukui. From Osaka, we took the expressway to Kyoto East. From there, we headed north along the bypass road on the west side of Lake Biwa. And then… We used the expressway again from Tsuruga. That was to save on toll fees. Right now, we’re driving on the Kosei Road. We’re about to pass by a Michi-no-Eki called Imoko-no-Sato. The Michi-no-Eki in Fukui Prefecture— There are six left. This time, we plan to visit all six stations. After this, our Fukui Michi-no-Eki tour will be complete. That also marks the end of our Michi-no-Eki journey in the Kinki region. Aino-Tsuchiyama in Shiga Prefecture is currently being renovated, so unfortunately, we can’t visit it now. But apart from that, we’ve visited every other Michi-no-Eki. So after finishing this trip, we’ll have completed our Michi-no-Eki tour in the Kinki region. We started visiting Michi-no-Eki two years ago in May. Our first stop was Michi-no-Eki Haga in Hyogo Prefecture. Actually, the very first was Michi-no-Eki Harima Ichinomiya. We’ve been touring Michi-no-Eki for two years now. There are still many more Michi-no-Eki in other prefectures. It’s tough to visit a lot of Michi-no-Eki in just one day off. So for now, we’ll call it a wrap on our Michi-no-Eki tour. It’s impossible to visit all six stations in Fukui in one day. So this time, we’ll be staying overnight in Fukui. We’ll visit all six stations over the trip. How will we go about visiting them? We’ll adjust the schedule as we go, depending on the time. The plan is to visit three stations on the first day, and three stations on the second day. That’s the plan for now. We booked a place to stay near Awara Onsen in Fukui. We’re going to tour the Michi-no-Eki. With only three stops a day, we can also make some detours. I’m looking forward to seeing where we can go. It’s mid-June right now. We’re right in the middle of the rainy season, but we’re lucky to have sunny weather today. It’s supposed to be clear today and tomorrow. I’m usually known to bring rain, but I think luck is on my side. My wife is coming along with me again for this trip. She’s a “sunny weather woman,” so maybe I’m benefiting from that. The two of us are spending a night together on this trip. Our car is small, so it’s tough to fit all our luggage. We’re trying to pack as light as possible, and I’ll show you later how we manage to pack everything in. If we were just doing a regular sightseeing trip with one night… For just one night with the two of us, we managed to fit all our luggage. It helps that I’m not very tall myself. If you’re taller, it might be harder to fit everything in. By the way, I’m 168 centimeters tall. I don’t need to move my seat all the way back. That means there’s a bit of space behind the seat for luggage. Thanks to that, even in this little S660 car, we can fit a small amount of luggage. Right now, we’re driving on National Route 161. Lake Biwa is visible on our right. You can see the torii gate of Shirahige Shrine up ahead. On the left side, you can see Shirahige Shrine. We’re still driving along National Route 161. We’ve now made it to Omi-Imazu. We’ll keep following Route 161 further ahead. We’ll continue all the way to Tsuruga. There’s a fair bit of traffic, but it’s nothing compared to the expressway. There are some traffic jams here and there, but there aren’t many traffic lights, so it’s still a pretty comfortable drive. Honestly, you don’t really need to take the expressway for this section. We’re already pretty far north at this point. This is the same spot as last time, actually. We’re taking a bathroom break at Michi-no-Eki Makino Ossaka Pass. We’ve finished our bathroom break at Makino Ossaka Pass. From here, we’ll go through the mountain roads. But first, we’ll stop for gas. Fueling up. It’s the same scenery as last time, but it’s a really fun route to drive. This happened about two years ago. There was so much snowfall, it piled up as high as the ski lifts. The ski resort couldn’t even open for business that time. There was so much snow that it was a real problem. That ski resort became quite a talking point. You can’t see it well from the car, but there’s a ski resort on the left side. That’s Kokkyo Kogen Snow Park. We’re entering Tsuruga City in Fukui Prefecture. From Tsuruga Interchange, we’ll get on the expressway. Let’s merge in. On the first day, we plan to visit three Michi-no-Eki. We’ll visit two stations in Echizen. And then, maybe one in Mikuni Town. So we’ll try to visit that Michi-no-Eki as well. Those are the three stations we’ll visit on day one. We’ll be staying overnight near Kitagata Lake, which is right next to the Sea of Japan. The next day, we’ll continue our Michi-no-Eki tour. We’ll adjust our schedule as we go, depending on the time. That’s the plan for our trip. From here, we’ll take the expressway all the way to Sabae IC. We’ve been driving on the Hokuriku Expressway for a while now. We’re almost at the Sabae Interchange. We’ll exit the expressway at Sabae Interchange. Alright, let’s get off at the Sabae exit. We’re leaving the Hokuriku Expressway now. There’s a sign saying “Sabae, the city of eyeglasses.” We’ve arrived in Sabae, and there’s a Michi-no-Eki nearby that we visited before. It’s a place called Nishiyama Park. I see a sign for Michi-no-Eki Nishiyama Park. Michi-no-Eki Nishiyama Park— is famous for its azalea soft-serve ice cream. Now, we’re leaving Route 8. That overpass above us is Fukui Railway. It looks like the first Michi-no-Eki we’ll visit is in the middle of the city. I can see Michi-no-Eki Nishiyama Park on the left. We’ve been to this Michi-no-Eki once before. We’ll turn right at this intersection. This is Route 417. We’re driving through the city of Sabae. And here, we’ll turn left at this traffic light. From here to the first Michi-no-Eki, it’ll take about 13 more minutes. The scenery of endless rice fields is really beautiful. There was a white heron standing in the middle of the road. I thought the Michi-no-Eki would be in the city, but now we’ve entered a residential area. I thought the Michi-no-Eki would be close to the Sabae Interchange, but it’s actually a bit farther away than I expected. Here’s the first Michi-no-Eki. We’re arriving at Michi-no-Eki Park-In Nyugao. We’ll be there soon. The balance of red bean and salt is just right! We’ve just visited Michi-no-Eki Park-In Nyugao. I tried one of their original products just now. They have a special soft-serve called Echizen Salt Azuki Soft Cream. That’s their local specialty soft-serve. I highly recommend the Echizen Salt Azuki Soft Cream. They also sell another original product at this Michi-no-Eki. I bought some Echizen Salt Candy. It’s the perfect treat for this season. It’s hot and I sweat a lot, so it’s important to replenish salt. Let me introduce Echizen Salt Candy too. I’ve been sweating a lot, so let’s try this salt candy. It has a mild, mellow salty taste. It’s a really easy-to-eat salt candy. It’s delicious! During the summer, this is a great product for replenishing salt. Alright, let’s head to the next Michi-no-Eki!
