The World’s Largest Rice Field Art 2025 行田田んぼアート
At first glance, it looks like just another rice field, but from above, it’s a masterpiece. [Music] [Music] This is rice patty art, a unique form of landscape design where farmers and volunteers plant different colored rice seedlings to create a massive image. Each line, each shade, each detail is made from real rice growing in real soil. You’re looking at Guyota City in Sidama Prefecture, home to the world’s largest rice patty art, recognized by Guinness World Records in 2015. The artwork spans over 2.8 hectares, changing themes every year. [Music] Inside the Guyota Tower, a short trailer introduces this year’s collaboration with Demon Slayer Mugan Castle. It sets the stage for the incredible rice field art that brings the anime to life. This year’s rice field art is a stunning collaboration with Demon Slayer Kametsu No Ya the movie. Muggan Castle, a beloved film with fans across all generations. To celebrate its theatrical release on July 18th, the world’s largest ricefield canvas now features the series iconic hero Tangiro Kamado. Over 10,000 rice seedlings were carefully planted by volunteers in early summer. [Music] And by July, the image comes to life in full vibrant color. Creating rice patty art takes careful planning. Designs are first sketched on a computer grid. Then using GPS markers and ropes, volunteers plant different rice varieties in precise locations. It’s not just farmers, it’s a community project. Students, local families, and visitors from outside Saitama all come together to plant. The best time to view this living artwork is from mid July to mid-occtober when the rice plants have matured and the colors are at their most vivid. [Music] From the top of the Guyota Tower standing 50 m tall, visitors can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the entire rice patty design. The tower offers the perfect vantage point to truly appreciate the scale, detail, and artistry of the field. As you look down from above, what once seemed like rows of rice transforms into a stunning illustration brought to life by thousands of carefully planted seedlings. In a world of high-tech and digital screens, this is art made from earth, water, and human hands. It’s more than just a picture. It’s a shared effort, a seasonal story, and a beautiful expression of tradition and creativity. [Music]
