Hello everyone and welcome to Walking Tour Trip! Today we’ll take you on an exciting tour of the beautiful city of Alicante. Get ready to enjoy a 4K walk through its streets on a summer afternoon as we discover this Mediterranean gem together. No matter where you are in the world, we have subtitles in every language! Thanks for joining us, and let’s enjoy Alicante! 🤗 Alicante is a vibrant city full of history on the east coast of Spain. Located in the Valencian Community, it is known for its beaches and Mediterranean climate. Alicante is a popular tourist destination for both national and international visitors. This video was recorded in July, in the middle of summer. There are a lot of tourists at this time, and we want you to feel like you’re here with us. Leave me a comment if you’ve already visited Alicante or if you would like to come. Alicante has a population of approximately 330,000, but during high season the population can increase considerably. The climate is Mediterranean, with mild winters and hot summers. The average annual temperature is around 18°C. In summer, it can exceed 30°C. In this video, at 9:00 PM, it is 31°C. The official language is Spanish, although Valencian is also spoken by locals. In Spain, there are four official languages: Spanish, Catalan, Galician, and Basque. In their regions, co-official languages have the same status as Spanish. They are used in administration, education, and the media. Alicante is also famous for its festivals, especially the Bonfires of San Juan. Held in June, they are the city’s most important festival. During these festivities, the city is filled with color and music. Huge cardboard and wood figures are burned in a spectacular ceremony. Like this video if you enjoy this virtual tour. 👍 This is the Holy Co-Cathedral Church of Saint Nicholas of Bari, one of Alicante’s main religious monuments. Saint Nicholas of Bari is the city’s patron saint, and his feast day is celebrated on December 6. The Co-Cathedral houses paintings and sculptures from the 17th and 18th centuries. Among them are works by Francisco de Goya and Vicente López. It is also a space of great cultural and artistic interest. Share this video with someone who needs a virtual vacation. 🌞 We are about to enter Alicante’s Town Hall Square, one of the city’s most emblematic places. A space that combines architecture, history, and urban life in the heart of the old town. This square is the scene of the Bonfires of San Juan celebrations. Large artistic monuments are installed here and burned in the traditional “Cremà” (fireworks). This is a perfect starting point for exploring the old town. 📍 Port of Alicante. The port serves commercial, recreational, and tourist functions. Ships depart from here for Algeria and other destinations in North Africa. In recent years, it has become an important leisure center. The port has modern marinas for boats, sailboats, and luxury yachts. Here, in the port of Alicante, we see the famous statue of the “Surfer.” Its real name is “The Return of Icarus with his Surfing Wing.” It was created in 1999 by sculptor Esperanza d’Ors. It represents Icarus emerging from the sea with a surfboard. It is a tribute to those who dream and dare to fly. The figure is made of bronze and aluminum, floating on the water. In 2012, a yacht struck it and it sank, but it was restored. Today, it is one of the symbols of the Port of Alicante. Many tourists approach for photos or even jump into the water. It is a perfect spot to enjoy the landscape and the promenade. The Hotel Alicante Gran Sol is one of the most iconic buildings in the city. With its imposing height and privileged location, it is a landmark. It offers spectacular views and an unforgettable experience to those who stay there. It was built in the 1970s, during Alicante’s urban development boom. With 28 floors and over 80 meters in height, it is one of the tallest buildings in the city. The wonderful Paseo de la Explanada de España is located here. Known as La Explanada, it is one of Alicante’s most popular spots. A mosaic floor with more than six million marble tiles, simulating ocean waves. It symbolizes the connection between Alicante and the Mediterranean. Alicante’s name comes from the Arabic word Al-Laqant, which derives from the Latin Lucentum, meaning “city of light.” The city enjoys sunshine almost year-round. The Esplanade is also a very important cultural and social space. In summer, it hosts events, markets, and craft fairs. Thank you for joining us on this unique adventure through Alicante.
