【古い町並みと八幡堀の近江八幡】近江商人の町・近江八幡。伝統が息づく街並みと、美しい水郷の自然が溶け合う癒しの街です

[music] Hello, I’m Fuyan. Today I’m in Omihachiman, Shiga Prefecture. Omihachiman is a place facing Lake Biwa and was a commercial center that flourished with Omi merchants. The old townscape and historical buildings remain, making it a popular place for history buffs and tourists. This is the town. This is the former Banke residence of the Omihachiman Town Research Institute, but it’s still early in the morning, so it’s closed.I decided to come back later. What a beautiful townscape, I’m mesmerized. This is a place where there were many merchant houses of large merchants, and there are many old but magnificent houses. There are many very fine houses here. This is a merchant house that expanded into the Edo period. The company is still there today. The latticework on the glass windows on the second floor is stylish. This is the Mentham Museum of Omi Brothers Co., Ltd., which sells Mentholum. You may be wondering what the difference is between Mentholatum and Mentholatum.Omi Brothers Co., Ltd. originally made Mentholatum after receiving the sales of Mentholatum, but due to adult circumstances, the product name was changed to Mentholtam.Omihachi Speaking of the highlight of Hata, this is Hachimanbori. It was originally a castle moat, but it was used as an important means of transportation for Omi merchants. It is no exaggeration to say that the great merchants prospered because of this moat. However, the Omihachiman Junior Chamber believed that the moment the moat was filled in, they would start to regret it, and so the members of the Omihachiman Moat moved into Hachimanbori and started their own initiative . As the number of people spread, Shiga Prefecture finally decided to stop the recovery work that was in progress and return the budget to the national government. When I heard this story, I was moved by the citizens’ desire to preserve history. In fact, they have revived Hachimanbori. Thanks to this, it has become a popular tourist spot in Omihachiman. It ‘s beautiful, and I’m glad they left it there. The next place I came to was Himure Hachimangu Shrine. When Emperor Seimu was enthroned at Takaanaho no Miya, he ordered Takeuchi Sukune to visit Oshima Okami, the landowner deity. It is said that this is a shrine with a history of nearly 1900 years. This is the worship hall , and this is the shrine. We take a ropeway to get to the ruins of Hachimanyama Castle. Here at Hachimanyama Castle was Hidetsugu Hashiba, the adopted son of Hideyoshi Toyo, who had no children yet. Why did they build a castle on such a high mountain?I thought it must have been a tough ride to get to the castle, but it turns out that the main residence at the foot of the mountain was actually the center of the castle.I came near the top of the mountain. The stone wall you can see in front of you on the right is where the main tower tower was. This is the ruins of the western circle. This is the height of the castle. Once you get to a certain point, you can see far away. And this is the Kitanomaru ruins. This is a heart-shaped monument. Why is it listed as a historical heritage site? It’s the main gate of Zuiryuji Temple. It’s a castle ruin, so it’s well-defended. In fact, Hachimanyama Castle’s first boss, Hidetsugu, was charged with seppuku on suspicion of rebellion, and it was built only 10 years ago. Zuiryuji Temple, which is now an abandoned castle, was built by Hidetsugu’s mother, Zuiryuin Nisshuuni, in Murakumo, Kyoto, as a place for Hidetsugu’s mother, who was forced to commit suicide by Hideyoshi. And in 1961, it was moved to its current location. This is the Mt. Hachiman Observatory. It ‘s a place with a lot of hearts. Is this the reason for the hearts? It feels forced. However, I took a sightseeing boat around Yawatabori, and I thought that if I spent 1,500 yen here, I would end up with a gyudon (beef bowl) at Sukiya for lunch, but I came all the way and I’m glad I took the ride. What do you think ?This view makes me feel like I’m an Omi merchant. It’s said to be often used as a filming location for historical dramas. But that’s kind of the atmosphere. What you can see in front is Hakuunkan, the ruins of an elementary school built in the Meiji era. Apparently this place is often used for filming. I usually go in, but today was a holiday. This is the old Yawata Post Office. It’s also a holiday. You can actually see inside, and apparently there’s a cafe, but it’s only open on weekdays. It’s a good thing, I’m so close to death, so I’m just taking a peek. This is the Vories Memorial Museum. This is the house where Mr. Vories lived. Mr. Vories was an architectural designer, and most of the Western-style buildings built in the Meiji period in Omihachiman were designed by him. In the morning, I came to the former Banke residence, which was closed. This place is from the Edo period. This is a merchant house built by Ban Shoemon, an early wealthy merchant. As a merchant, Ban Shoemon mainly did business in folding tables, mosquito nets, folding fans, and linen fabrics, and also exhibited in Osaka and Kyoto. He eventually opened a large store in Nihonbashi, Edo, and also did foreign exchange business and lending to feudal lords.Go up to the second floor. It’s a large room with no partitions.Further up the stairs, it’s a large room with no pillars, and it was previously used as a girls’ school.Next time, we’re going to enter the History and Ethnology Museum. This is the type of refrigerator you saw in the movie Oldies, which uses ice to cool the refrigerator. And in the sequel, electrification has progressed. The ice shop was disappointed. The big merchants were mainly doing business as peddlers, so they must have used mobile phone measurements and other portable devices. The next place we came to was the former Nishikawa House. This was also a wealthy merchant’s house. It seemed to be a set for mom and dad, so only rich people would have had it.It was a spacious house. Is this a counter? There’s also a second floor. This is a three-story warehouse, which is rare in Japan.I took a 1,500 yen houseboat, so I was supposed to go to Sukiya for lunch, but I decided to eat the specialty here. This is the famous Omi Champon.Omi Champon uses Chinese noodles. It’s Japanese style. It doesn’t have any seafood, it’s full of vegetables, and I eat it with vinegar.I didn’t add vinegar because I didn’t know much about adding vinegar because I didn’t know much about it.However, I understand that it’s a Japanese-style soup, and it had a very gentle taste. It ‘s full of vegetables, and it has absolutely zero calories.I drink all the soup as a courtesy to the chef. It’s okay, my blood pressure is 120.The next place I came to was La Collina Omihachiman. It ‘s probably the most popular tourist spot of any other in Omihachiman.I think all the tourists in Omihachiman come here.Even though it’s such a large facility, it’s full of people.I point at the camera. The concept is that you learn naturally, so I don’t know what you’re going to learn, but it seems like this is a castella shop. You can see people making Baumkuchenhe here.Even if they make this much, they’ll probably sell everything, it’s very popular. For now, ma’am. You can’t go wrong with buying this as a souvenir. That ‘s why I bought this.It ‘s Rikuo, isn’t it? The owner must have collected things he liked. This is also amazing. The back is BSA and the front is Triumph. He also made scooters. Well, it’s amazing how many facilities were built on such a large piece of land. Thank you for watching until the end today. We will continue to introduce various places, so if you would like to see more, please subscribe to the channel and wait. See you soon.
