BOLIVIA: 20 Must-See Places in 3 Days | Salt Flats & Hidden Gems Tour
Hello. Hello, guys. All right. Are you ready for Bolivia? This episode is going to be magical. We’re taking you to the world’s largest salt flat where the line between earth and skies disappears. You will see bubbling gazers, mineralrich hot springs, active volcanoes, Bolivian pink flamingos, and so much more. Grab your snacks and favorite drinks and let’s dive into this 3 days adventure together. My name is Lana and you’re watching Sweet Journey. Welcome. So, I was actually planning to post a video from Peru first, but my external hard drive, Elucia, suddenly crashed and all my footage is currently inaccessible. I’ve sent it in for warranty repair in the US. So, let’s all say a little prayer that the data will be saved. Amen. So why Bolivia? To be honest, a lot of people told us not to come here, saying the country is undeveloped, the streets are not safe, and poverty is everywhere. But we’ve always believed in forming our own opinions through personal experience. So we decided to take the leap and head to La Pass. And you know what? We actually got there pretty smoothly by bus, except for a lastm minute visa issues we discovered right at the Peru Bolivia border. Yeah, just imagine our faces when we found out. But that’s a whole other story. I will save it for the next episode all about La Pas. This video is all about our 3-day trip to UNI and how we got there from La Pas. Let’s start the trip. Are you ready? By the way, this might surprise you, but in La Paz, the main form of public transportation is actually a cable car system and it’s honestly a lifesaver in such a big densely populated city. So, by the way, about the public transport, do you remember I told you about the like a strike? So, for now, everything is work and thanks God we can go to the bus station so like fast and Don’t worry. Yeah, there is a more most scary like moment in this trip. But yeah, so now we just need to change two lines and go like 30 minutes from the last line. Um, and we will be on the bus station. It took us about 40 minutes to get from our neighborhood to downtown. And the views of the city from above were stunning. But for example, if we had taken a taxi, it would have taken even longer because la pass traffic in the evenings is next level bet. A taxi to the bus terminal from our area would have cost around 45 bolivian. That’s about 3 and a half United States dollars. Our final cable car stop was at the Prada station and from there we had to walk another 30 minutes to the terminal. You know, I’m not a big fan to go somewhere in the evening, especially in La Pas because in the center of the city, it’s like a crazy. It’s a mess. Everywhere is so loud and a lot of drunk people. But I understand it’s a Friday, of course. But like I told you, I’m not a big fan. This is what downtown LA sounds like on a Friday night. Once we arrived at the bus station, I realized how much I miss this kind of travel chaos. Not bad, right? I absolutely love bus travel. Stations like this always feel like the start of something exciting. We started checking for tickets, but guys, honestly, it was not as easy as we thought to find a good price. Still, we did not give up. The good news that we found the company will uh have like a departure in the 10:00, 10:00 p.m. So, we’re going to be in UNI at 6 a.m. So, yeah. And the price for one ticket was uh 90 Bolivians. Uh yeah, and actually it’s a good price because everywhere will be around 120. We had about two hours before our bus was sleeping. So we decided to kill some time and play at the clown machines. Spoiler alert, we spent 10 Bolivianas, won zero toys, and ended up with a disappointed kid and a slightly heartbroken who we were trying to win the toy for. But we didn’t stay upset for long because just 10 minutes later, we got a private concert from a drunk artist and beggar who actually gave Vitalik a respect shout out after he refused to give him money. Yeah, the politeness of Bolivians is really surprising. And to top it all off, we save it a little burn. Um, well, save it might be a stretch because it didn’t really ask for help, but still, we gave it some food and water. That was the end of our little adventure at the bus station and we finally got on our bus to Yuni. What I really like about the Bolivia and Peru that all like bus is so comfortable. You don’t need to worry about like um the seats because you can sleep so well. That’s why like we choose all the time uh the buses not the plane. The biggest surprise that in the bus we have Wi-Fi. Yeah, we had never had a Wi-Fi in the bus and there is a like what? So, it’s impressive. Look at I can sleep like literally lying on the this uh chair. By the way, they even gave all passengers snacks and blankets, which made us super happy, especially considering how cheap the tickets were. We got a good sleep on the bus and woke up feeling refreshed, waiting to arrive. But we were actually 2 hours later. So, my advice, guys, don’t plan anything too tightly right after arrival. When we got to the bus station, a staff member from the company we booked our 3-day tour with was already there to meet us. So, our geek met us on the bus station and now we are going to the cafe for the breakfast and I hope they will have a coffee and something hot because it’s so freezing outside. Yeah, because in Laasi it’s like uh uh warmer than here. Breakfast was tasty, but to be honest, we were already hungry again a couple of hours later. So, make sure to always bring some snacks for trips like these. After breakfast, we went to the company’s office to pay for the tour, get a quick briefing, grab some water and sleeping bags, and head out with a whole group to our first stop. But before that, protect your face, guys. By the way, here is a company I highly recommend. The price for 3-day tour per person was $100, and it included the whole list of places from this file. I was super excited that the we be traveling by jeep and that’s our group had just six people. So the ride was really comfortable for everyone. All right, our first stop were the train cemetery. Why this place interesting? At the beginning of the 20th century, these trains were Bolivia’s golden mode of transportation. They were brought from England to transport silver and tin. But when the mine is closed, the railway was abandoned due to the collapse of the mining industry in the 1940. Imagine this. Instead of taking the equipment back, the companies just left it here to rust. Why? It’s a good question. Because Su Yuni is located at 3,700 m above sea level, and getting the trains back down would have been way too expensive. Fun of fact, the oldest train here is from the same era as the Titanic built around 1900 1920s. So there’s like a touristic place in UNI and uh just want to tell that u a lot of people like a lot of people like you see everywhere uh the huge traffic to do the photos uh especially with like this word uni. Uh but at the same time it’s a good experience to look at these uh old trains which unfortunately doesn’t work and yeah you can take a lot of pictures here and uh like enjoy with a beautiful beautiful views on the like this mountains with the snow tops. I like it and I hope I will take a couple of pictures on these trains. Yeah, it’s good. Do you like this area? It was pretty normal. Normal. Okay. This place for him normal. But I really like it. And uh for one option of this like tour, I think it’s a good idea because I love that trains. So it was a trains cemetery and it was good. Yeah. But here is my tip. Come here early in the morning, for example, at sunrise or at sunset when there are no crowds. You will really get to enjoy the scenery. And at night, the starry sky here is just magical. After that, we headed to the salt museum where you can see how they make salt bricks for building and edible salt too. Our git explained it how the salt is dried using mechanical methods and I even gave it a try with a shovel. Should they pay me? Then we saw how they process the salt to make it safe to eat. The machine we call in chanka or chanka is like the break salt. Okay. So they mix 95% of salt and 5% of y and it’s ready for eat. dries out, mix with oil and is ready for it for sale. Okay, this plastic very easy. They close the plastic bag in two seconds. 2 seconds. Look at this. Only two seconds and it’s ready for sale. One, two. That’s all for the salt. Okay, very easy. Here is a cool fact. Bolivia has one of the largest salt reserves in the world, but doesn’t export or mine it on a large scale. Why? Well, mainly because of economic and geographic challenges. Developing this industry would require huge investments in infrastructure since the salt flat is located 3,700 m above sea level. So, salt harvesting here is mainly for tourism and local use, not industrial production. Oh, and I’m so sorry, almost forgot. See this plant skeleton? It’s called the Choya cactus, and it even has a motor break. But don’t give up. It’s one of the toughest plants in the harsh desert environment. If you look closely at its lettuce like stem, you will notice it’s not just for decoration. These segments act as water reservoirs. So even if it breaks from the wind for example, it can still survive and keep growing thanks to its natural water system. We wandered around the museum a bit more and then we were handed rubber boots which we were going to wear for the rest of the day. Why rubber boots? H you are about to see for yourself. And here we are walking in our rubber woods on the salt lake. So we are here solar de Yuni. Oh my goodness. It’s is crazy guys. Can you see these beautiful views? All this salt and reflection. Um in the evening we will have a different experience with a sunset and it will be more reflection. But oh my goodness, I’m so happy to be here. Honestly, I felt like a kid splashing in bubbles after the rain. I want to tell you why Solar Deuni is considered one of the most beautiful and famous places in all of Bolivia. First of all, it’s the largest salt flat in the world with an area of 10,582 square kilometers, about the size of Cyprus or Jamaica, and it holds around 10 billion tons of salt. But what makes it truly magical is the mirror effect. Just look at this. A thin layer of water creates a perfect reflection of the sky, making you feel like you are floating between heaven and earth. We can only see this mirror effect during the rain season from November to March. Even though we visited it midappril, we got lucky. In 2025, there was heavy rainfall. So, the mirror was still here. Right now, this place serves as a touristic attraction. And in the 2000, the famous movie Star Wars: The Last Jedi was actually filmed here. Look at these shots. Even 90 boy la this atmospheric location for their music videos for the volcano. That is the Tunupa volcano. Okay. The last eruption of the volcano 1.4 million years ago. Okay. This is the rest of the salt from the sea 40,000 years ago. All these are one lake Minching Lake. About 40,000 years ago, there is a huge freshwater lake here called it Lake Mchi, which later became Lake Tauuka and then Len Kaopas. But due to the climate change, warming and drought combined with the tectonic shifts in the Andes which blocked water from flowing out, the lake dried up. What reminded is this hyper salty flat. So this desert every year getting bigger and uh wow and you will ask why because of the rain because of this process or like something like that. And yeah so we just need to enjoy After listening to the git, we went to visit a salt hotel where you could grab a snack, knew the bathroom, four or five bolivians and walk around a building. Everything here was builded by salt salt salted bricks. And not just the walls. Even the beds and nightstands are made of salt bricks. It’s a perfect place to really feel the spirit of the salt flats. Watch the sunset and enjoy the stars at night. When we step it outside, I noticed a bunch of flexs from different countries. I really wish I had brought a Ukrainian flag to place here. It would been have such a special moment. But unfortunately, maybe next time. A few minutes later, our geek told us it was lunchtime. Woohoo! So, we slowly walked back to the jeeps where the crew had set up a lovely outdoor meal. I can confidently say we choose the right company for this trip. Just look at the outdoor lunch we had. Everything was freshly made, hot, and super tasty. Honestly, I will not lie. This was my favorite meal of the entire 3-day adventure. Oh, and by the way, we even got served apple pie at the end. I totally forgot to film it before I took a bite. So, here it is. Half eaten and surrounded by kinoa. Sorry, guys. After lunch, we had one of the most memorable shots ever. It was hilarious. Just look at how it turned out. Yeah, this company clearly knows how to make their guests happy. And no, this is not a paid advertising. I’m just sharing my honest opinion from the heart. I also want to make a little emotional pause here and say it’s so important to do what you truly love in life because when you work you are not just doing a job you are giving your precious time and there is the most valuable thing we have. Oh my god all these feelings like inside me I can’t even explain with the words because I didn’t see something like that in my life. Never. Never. And I I I know that’s like not a lot of chances in my life was to catch this moment, but I’m so grateful to be here, so grateful to feel all these emotions and amazing. and my husband tried to measure the deep of water. After filming, we went searching for the perfect spot to watch the sunset. And just look, flamingos. We will get a closer look at them on second day. But for now, let’s enjoy this magical salt flat sunset. It’s the best of the best day in my life. Yeah. Heat. Heat. Our g surprised us with wine and snacks so we could warm up and enjoy the view because after sunset it got pretty chilly. Can you imagine? It was + 20° during the day but it drops to -5 at night so it was pretty cold. That moment really took us by surprise. The sun was setting on one side and on the other a full moon was rising from behind the mountains. We honestly felt like the luckiest people on earth. To be honest, this place made me reflect. You really don’t need that much to be happy. Society keeps telling us we should do this or should have that. that in reality the only thing we should do is be happy and free and that’s exactly what I felt that in me. Salardo Uni turned out to be one of the most unique places I have ever been to. When it got dark, we headed to our hotel where we were going to have dinner and spend the night. Here is a look at our room. Yes, there was a shower. But let’s be honest, calling it a shower is a bit generous. But hey, at least there was one. But look at this. There is a salt everywhere. And this material looks so strange. Oh boy. A funny thing happened later. I actually got stuck in the bathroom when the door handle came off in my hand. Luckily, my husband was nearby to save me. Oh, yeah. And this is one of our German friends. He’s traveling across South America with his family in a camper van. Sounds like a dream, right guys? You will sleep here, right? I will sleep there. So, now we are going for the dinner. It’s the wrong way for the dinner. Actually, I was so surprised because I thought that we already had it on the uh salt lake, but no. M so smells so good. Like to eat. Dinner was actually really filling. First they served us soup. I also found my hand is amazing anytime. And then we got potatoes, sausages, and vegetables. Honestly, we were happy and full. Uh so we stay in this hotel and I really like uh this place because we have a private room, we have a private bathroom and especially these bricks with a salt and wow, it’s amazing. And you know this place like I went outside and I hear nothing like literally nothing. It just one car but it’s so quiet. You know when you live mostly in the town you all the time hear some sound of the road uh some sirens or something like that but here it’s nothing. Nothing. Wow. It’s so good for my mental health. So I gonna sleep because tomorrow we will have one more uh day in the in this trip. So let’s see. Good morning. Here I’m trying to say something but honestly my brain can’t form thoughts. Not just in English, but even in my native language. Yeah. Oh, and here’s the name of the hotel we stayed at, just in case. It comes in handy later. It’s nice. We slept really well and we are ready for the new trip. Did you see this moon? Wow. Let’s go inside cuz it’s so cold. Filming my husband beating me a table football in 10 seconds. Complete. filming breakfast. Totally forgot. Yeah, breakfast was decent. I just wish I had filmed it. So, we had a breakfast, but I forgot to feed it. But we had an eggs, a coffee, cacao with tea, uh some uh bread, butter, which actually margarine, and papaya. It was good for breakfast. I think it’s enough. So now our driver already waiting for us. So I just need to grab my husband and let’s go. After packing up, our git and driver were already waiting outside. So we loaded our stuff into the chips and hit the road to our next stop, San Christobel. So guys, we uh made our first stop in San Christoal city. Uh so and our gi told us there is a most rich city in Bolivia because of the minerals. I hope that uh we will go somewhere uh with a beautiful view because everywhere like amazing mountains. Uh but let’s see. This is not just any town. It’s actually the richest town in Bolivia. Home to one of the largest mining sites in the world with huge reserves of zinc, silver, and lead. Fun fact, this town would not even exist if it were not for the miners. When we arrived, we were hit by icy air. The harsh climate and high altitude make it far from a tourist hot spot. But for us, it was a quick stop on the way to a magic spot where the rocks feels like they are alive and the mountains surround you like a painting. So guys, the shape uh of these rocks because of the wind and sun and uh if you see these forms uh it’s I can’t even compare with something because it’s like uncomparative. I don’t know how to explain more correctly but it’s insane. It’s so beautiful. And do you know I remember the pictures and painting uh by Delhi and it’s remind me something from this uh uh place. Maybe I’m not wrong. Let’s see. Interestingly Deli never visit the le and the paintings have no real connection but locals were inspired by his surreal style and name the place the lead desert. Scientifically though, these rock formation are the result of volcanic rock erosion. No surprise since Bolivia has over 50 volcanoes, both active and dormant. Of course, I had to climb one. And here is the proof. I will not lie, it was freezing, so we run back to the jeep to warm up. But take a moment to enjoy the beauty of this surreal, peaceful place. Back in the jeep, we headed to lunch and the location was so atmospheric. But first, so we made our second stop for the dinner. Yeah, I’m so exciting and everything looks so so delicious. Yeah, I’m so hungry. Just look at this food. Everything was freshly met, hot, and super tasty. Honestly, major props to the tour company. We were well fit every single day. While everyone finished their meals, we went out to explore the surroundings a bit. By the way, we were only a few dozen kilometers away from the Chilean and Argentinian borders. That’s why some people boo this tour as oneway trip ending in either uh Chile or Argentina. And honestly, I think that’s a really cool option. After a little mountain stroll, some bird watching and nearly soaking my shoes in the stream, we headed to one of the highlights of the day, Laguna Hedion, home to beautiful wild fa and flamingos. For me, nothing compares to see wild animals in their natural habitat. It’s always so special. Here, our gate explains how believing flamingos differ from all others in the world. the the Chile the flamingos from Chile we call Chilean flamingos very easy but it’s more pink the body and the legs is the color orange ch and from Bolivia and flamingos yeah is the more big one yeah and the flamingo from Bolivia this area it’s very pink the tail is mixed between pink and black but the legs is the color yellow okay that is the difference between flamingos never they mix never. Their mating season runs from November to February with a peeking around December to January. During that time, you can see up to 30,000 flamingos in one place. Unfortunately, we came in April, so we missed the peak. But even so, seeing these amazing birds was absolutely magical. The best time to observe them is at sunrise when they are most active. And the best spot to see their famous mating dances are Lagona, Colorado, Laguna Verde, and Laguna Blanca, Laguna Canapa, Lagona Hedion, where we are now. About 20 minutes later, we drove to yet another Lagona and saw even more flamingos. It was mesmerizing to watch them walk so gracefully and fly like poetry in motion. Here I’m trying to explain something, but the meat didn’t survive the crazy wind. So here is the story. Did you know if a flamingo doesn’t find the mate during the season, it might not survive the winter? Sometimes in smaller populations, they even form same sex pairs. Nature finds its way. This totally blew my mind. This place really made me reflect on life. Honestly, I used to think happiness meant a house, a car, a fancy job, and a big paycheck. But today, I have that version of life behind. Now, it’s just me, a suitcase in travel, and I’ve never been happier. This was the best decision I ever made. That and marrying my husband of course because in moments like this surrounded by nature you feel free, fulfilled and truly alive. The emotions you get while traveling they are priceless. You will never forgot them. Okay. Okay. Enough philosophy. Right back to the trip. Funny story. I thought I was feeling my husband admiring the view. Turned out it was a random man peeing behind the rock. I’m sure he was just as surprised as I was. Apologize, sir. Anyway, here comes my actual husband running to the car. Everyone was waiting for us again. Time to head off to the next spot, Desert De Sil. Look how the jeeps kick up that fiery trail in the dust. Stunning. Also, these four days were a total internet detox. And you know what? It was not even hard. Who wants to scroll a phone when this is your view? The Sali Desert is famous for its wind carveted rock formations. And the most iconic one is the arble de pedra or stone tree. Some rocks look like trees. Some like faces or even masks. Tell me, do you see it too? It’s not a wonder people often compare this place to Del paintings. Truly surreal. We still had two more spots left on the day road. One of them, the legendary Lagona, Colorado or Red Lagoon. So why is it red? It’s thanks to Duna Salelina algae and mineral cocktail of orange, gypsum, and sodium, plus flamingo poop. Yeah, their droppings act like fertilizer and boost algae growth. This lake is like something from Mars. A rare combo of biology and geology. You will only find similar lakes in Tanzania or Azerbaijan, but Bolivia’s version is the highest, sitting at 4,278 m. Despite the altitude, we were feeling great. So, we decided to grab a coffee. Now, we are going for the coffee. And over here, thanks God we have some coffee shop. And I hope that we will uh get some great coffee or just coffee, you know. This little makeshift cafe had an incredible view and surprisingly amazing coffee. Only 15 Bolivianas. While driving to our final stop of the day, we played a game of chess in the back seat. Do I need to say who won? Hint, not me. Yeah. Next stop, Solo de Manana gazers. And wo, my first time seeing real gazers. It felt like we were on Mars. Totally out of this world. Here is why this place is special. It’s one of the highest gazer fields on Earth. Because of the low pressure at 4,900 m, water boils here at just 85° C, not 100. But some of the sulfur fummeralss reach 200° or even more, releasing that iconic rotten egg smell. It’s also super dangerous. In 2017, a tourist tragically fell into a hidden thermal pit. So, watch your step. Yeah, it’s so so cold. My hands like wow. Oh, I just tried to like hold so so strong my phone because it’s so so cold here. At sunset, the place turned absolutely magical, but the temp dropped from + 10 to – 10 in minutes. My hands were frozen and I was definitely not ready for that. My hand is so shaking. I can’t literally do nothing. And in case you are wondering why is it so cold near boiling gazers, it’s simple. At 4,900 m, the air is thin and can’t hold heat. The steam warms only a tiny area and the dry air and wind steel it way fast. Even in summer, you need a puffer jacket here. Eventually, I could not feel my fingertips anymore and run to the jeep to avoid frostbite. See that structure? Not a factor. It’s an experimental geothermal station built in the 2010s by Japanese and Bolivian teams. But it’s been nonoperational since 2019. Too extreme for most equipment to handle, especially with that aggressive hydrogen sulfide. Some locals do harvest a little sulfur from fummeralss by hand. It’s used in agriculture and medicine. As the night fell, a bright yellow moon rose over the silent desert. It lit up our path like a lantern. When we arrived at our hotel, I was so excited. We were literally sleeping in the desert. The sky was full of stars. The silence was unreal. And the full moon made it all feel so romantic. Our room was a shared dorm and we were staying with the three other travelers. But we knew that ahead of time, so no complaints. Honestly, all I could think about was dinner. Dinner was hot, delicious, and exactly what we needed after the long freezing day. One thing I can say for sure, we were always wellfed. This was also our first trip with a group of strangers and it was such a cool experience. So many new friendships and great conversations. Then we heard there is a natural hotring pool nearby. At first we hesitated. It was below freezing outside honestly. But hey, you only live once. So guys, you know what we did? We rented towels 10 bivanas and got two tickets. 20 bananas total. And oh my god, it was the best decision ever. The water was the perfect 2930° and at times even felt too hot. We stayed there for three whole hours, stargazing, moon watching, and chatting with travelers from Canada and France. No video could capture what we felt, but I will remember it forever. The end of an absolutely perfect day. Guys, we love it. It’s so much yesterday that we decided to wake up at 5:00 a.m. today and come for another swim. Our ticket was valid for full 24 hours and the hot spring pool is open 24/7. Just take a look at this sunrise. You can even see flamingos flying in the distance. An unforgettable experience. Honestly, I would totally come back here again. Aguest Termales de Pulquus is a natural hotring located in the southwest of Bolivia in the Possi department at an altitude of around 4,394 m above sea level. You’re my sea lion. By the way, this is how I warmed up my coffee. I just put to the water and it’s like old time warm, but you need to hold your cup because of the like this stream. Huge stream. Stream. Yeah, huge stream. It was below freezing in the morning. And just look at my husband’s hair. It completely froze. It’s funny because locals recommend staying in the pool no more than 20 minutes due to the high altitude, pressure, and risk of degradation. Meanwhile, we soak it for nearly 3 hours. Thank goodness we are okay. After our magical morning swim, more tourists started arriving. A terminal deos is a popular spot on the Solard Yuni tour road. So, how do you like it? It’s one of the most incredible experiences of Yeah. Yeah. Agree. It was a great decision uh to wake up in the 5:00 a.m. and go to the water and enjoy it until the sunrise. It’s so cold. It’s so cold. Uh I I think it’s definitely like a minus, but it’s amazing. Yeah. So, now we are going for the breakfast. So, we dried off and went to grab the breakfast that was already waiting for us. I especially love the pancake. So fluffy and tasty. Although, I usually prefer a more proteinrich breakfast. Yeah. When we first got here, it was pitch dark. We could not see a thing. But as soon as the sun rose and lit up the area, I was amazed by the towering mountains, seagulls, and flamingos flying around and the mist rising off the lake. It gave the whole place such a magical wipe. After gathering our things and strolling through the hotel grounds in the dilite, we packed up and headed to the first stop of our final day. Our gift gave us a choice. Easy relax at the hotel or drive to the Laguna Verde and Laguna Blanco. But there is a nuance. You can only see the lake in this iconic acid green color after 11:00 a.m. when strong winds stir the water. We were scheduled to arrive around 9:00 a.m., so we knew we will not see that green. But still, we didn’t want to just sit around, so we went anyway. Though, in hindsight, knowing what’s happened next, we might have preferred chilling in the hot springs. When we arrived at Laguna Vera and Blanca, our gave us a bit of background. 5 minutes more you can to arrive to migration, Bolivia migration, and is very near to Chile. So you can to arrive in 10 minutes walking maybe 1 hour no from here and Chile behind the mountains but over there approximately 100 km more you can travel to Argentina. So this area we call tripartita in this pangis tripartita is like three small places together. Yeah between Argentina, Chile and Bolivia. Okay. Now I’m speaking about to the area over there. You can see the volcano. Leankabur volcano. Yeah. If we speak in Pukara the exactly name is Likah. Likah. But in Ketwa is Likabur. Yeah. The Lankabur the mean is like the green volcano or green lava. Okay. That is why green because there is arcenic and cover in the volcano. That is the big reason why the lake in front is green lake because the wind moved the mineral arcan cover and paint of the color green only for the windy no windy no green now like you feel it’s soft windy no by that it’s a little bit green and together here we have the white lake the white lake is white because inside to the lake you can find borax and you saw the borax is the color white also when the wind move the lake paint the color white. So here we can see white and green lake, the lick and cahour volcano and also here the small brother of the volcano jurikes. This is the jurikus volcano lancur volcano and the cousin of the volcanoes in front that is the sire kabur kabur volcano. So three total no behind you if you see over there there is three volcanoes together one two three that’s because there is congress three volcanoes in one in one mountain okay that is about to this area and also if you see on the floor the rocks is volcanic stone from 1.4 for millions years ago. Okay. See that messy volcano? Its crater holds one of the world’s highest altitude lakes. Archaeological remains have been found there. Probably used by the Incas for religious rituals, though it’s considered potentially active. No resid eruptions have been recorded. Right next to it is the Jurig volcano. Known for its impressive 1.5 km wide karata. It’s a favorite among climbers. Even though we did not get to see the lake in its signature green, I will still show you what it should have looked like. Leitic expectation. That’s reality. It’s so cold. I I can’t even count how many times I already uh told it. But yeah, it’s so cold. It’s so good. Still, I love this place. Just standing in the desert surrounded by so many volcanoes. It was surreal. We hopped back in the car and headed toward the Delhi desert. But something went wrong with the first vehicle and our whole group had to stop and help out. We ended up stuck in the desert for a couple of hours. During that time, we napped. walk around, admire the volcano views, and even made new friends a group of Australians. One of them did not seem to mind the freezing temps at all. He was in flip flops while I was sharing in my hoodie and sneakers. For 2 hours, everyone tried helping out. People from totally different tour companies stopped to lend a hand. Unfortunately, the driver stayed behind with a vehicle to wait for assistance and the rest of us were squeezed into the other jeeps and taken back to the hotel. We only got to see that the lead desert from afar since we had no time left to explore it. There was one unexpected bonus though. We saw a wild fox. She came up to us looking for food. But guys, please never feed wild animals. It messes with the food chain and makes them depend on people, which eventually leads to them losing their hunting instincts and dying. The first thing you can do is admire them without interfering. When we got to the hotel, we picked up the rest of our group and little bit watched the cute yamas wandering around. And now we went to the our hotel to pick up the guys who didn’t want to go like in the Verde Laguna. And next up will be for the lunch um in 2 hours. Yeah. So what I want to say, what I want to tell you, it was good. It was fun. And you know what? You can’t plan everything. And you just need to be in the positive mood with a positive energy because like there is the most important thing. So yeah, next up for the lunch and then set off on a sixhour journey to the city of UNI. I totally forgot about lunch and when I finally got to eat, I was so happy. Anyone else obsessed with food like me? Let me know in the comments, guys. We stopped in the middle of the desert where a whole herd of llamas was gazing. But when I saw the remains of llamas, my heart almost broke. How can people eat these adorable animals? Yeah, I know. I know. They are raced for food just like cows or chicken, but it’s still hard so much to see that. You know, for me it’s a little bit confusing when you’re in the desert, but it’s so cold. But here is so cold because of the uh altitude and we almost in 4,000 m uh like level under sea. So that’s why but like a lot of sun but it will be not so hot. Yeah. So if you’re going to go to like this type of an attraction, you just need to be sure that you took enough warm clothes. After a short walk post lunch, we continued our descent from the mountains toward UNI. We were so relieved to finally hit proper roads again, even though the cliffs along the way gave our trip an extra adrenaline boost. And get this, in the middle of the desert, we stumbled upon a small town with a brand new super modern soccer field. One thing’s for sure, South Americans really love football. Also, do you see this value of bright orange rocks? That’s volcanic rock, basically solidified lava. It looked absolutely unreal. I didn’t manage to capture it properly since we were driving over huge boulders on a rough off-road trail. And this is how we spend the rest of the day on the road. We arrived in uni around 700 p.m. and immediately run off to buy our return tickets to La Pass. I just want to say choosing this 3-day adventure was one of the best decision ever. Huge thanks to the company and our geek who made this trip unforgettable. You will find all their contact info in the description below this video.
