Soshigaya Park, Tokyo – Shrine Shadows and Riverside Reflections | Japan Walking Tour 【4K UHD】

Walking in Soshigaya Park Current location: Setagaya, Tokyo I got off at Seijo Gakuenmae Station and walked up the Sengawa River to Soshigaya Park. There are parks on both sides of the river. Now I realize that parks are not very photographable when the flowers are not in bloom. Since this area is along the river, it must have been rural in the past. What kind of tree is this? It seems that this area was developed and planned as an air defense green space during the war. If there are no burning buildings the fire will stop spreading. The cherry blossoms you can see on the opposite bank are apparently seedlings that were brought back to Japan from Washington, USA. Hmm. The road along the river is closed. A herb garden? I know a bit about it. I wonder if this means the mint has gone into a state of violent weediness. These are herbs. Unfortunately I don’t know the species. A rose garden maybe. I wonder if this is something locals do as a hobby. It seems the best time to see the flowers has passed. There’s some kind of event going on. It’s not a food stall these days, it’s a food truck. Kami-Soshigaya Shinmeisha Shrine. It was built around 1688. I found a photo on the internet. This area was completely rural until just after the war. Don’t feed the cats and pigeons. Hmm. It looks like a lot of residents are having a meeting inside, so I’ll stop taking photos here. It’s a cat. It’s big. It’s a long-haired breed. I wonder if it wants some food. That’s all for today. Anywhere is fine. Get off at a station that comes to mind and walk around the area. The moment you get off the train, you start a little journey to walk through an unfamiliar town. This time, I got off at Seijo Gakuenmae Station in Setagaya Ward, Tokyo, and followed the path that stretches along the river to Soshigaya Park. The river flowed quietly beside the paved road where the sunlight was shining, and a slight breeze blew through the green space on both sides. In this season when there are no conspicuous flowers, the scenery of the park looks plain at first glance, but if you look closely, you will see that the herb garden is lush with mint and rose petals remain. These plantings must be cared for by someone in the community. When you pass through the torii gate of Kami-Soshigaya Shinmeisha, the memory of the land becomes stronger. This area was a rural area until just after the war, and quiet times were layered on top of each other, such as the history as an air defense green space and the cherry trees that returned across the sea. A cat was looking at me. It seemed wary of people, but also somewhat expectant. They didn’t say anything, just stood there in silence, which matched the silence of the town.
