Futae, Itsuwa Town, Amakusa City Description of Tsuuji Island. I would like to introduce Tsuuji Island, an isolated island at the northern end of the Amakusa Shimo Island. This is the third time I’ve photographed this island, and it’s a truly fascinating island that shows different faces each time I shoot. The island became connected to the mainland in 1975 (Showa 50) with the opening of the Tsuuji Bridge. Approximately 200 wild southern bottlenose dolphins live offshore, and you can enjoy dolphin watching. It has now become famous as “the island where you can meet dolphins.” The surrounding sea is so clear that there are solar salt-making factories that use seawater. Across the Amakusa Sea, it is a viewing spot where you can see Mount Unzen in Nagasaki Prefecture and more. The pier at the eastern end is a spot with such a high concentration of fish that it is always bustling with anglers. Additionally, there are white windmills on both ends of the island, which serve as the island’s landmark. Today I am on Tsuuji Island, a remote island in Itsuwa Town, Amakusa City. Although it is called a remote island, it is now connected to Kami Islnd by a bridge and has a land connection. It is a beautiful small island full of charm. Please enjoy. Let’s take off! First, take a look at the breakwater at the eastern end, which is popular with anglers. There are white windmills, one on each end of the island.
